2021-22 NBA Thread: Bill Simmons furiously recording 2.5 hour long pod about how Boston is still better than Golden State (2 Viewers)

Just another 43-12-5 line for Giannis last night after 39-7-7 (in 27 minutes) on Tuesday.

Over the last 5 seasons, he's got 41 25-point games in less than 30 minutes.  The next closest are Steph with 21 and Embiid with 18.

Oh, and Bud said last night that Brook Lopez has responded well to 5-on-5 practices with the Bucks' G-league team in Oshkosh.  Getting him back is gonna be HUGE for these guys.

Oh, wow.  Didn't know Lopez coming back was still a possibility, but I hadn't checked on it in over a month.

That changes things....the East is heating up.

Joker....38-18-7...steal and two blocks....

In HS/College that's immediately a travel because he established his right foot as his pivot foot when picking the ball up (although kids get away with that a lot at every level because it is very hard to see at actual speed).

However, in the NBA they are allowed an extra "gather" step and so his pivot foot isn't established until his left foot gets planted.

After that, it is just an incredibly nimble move as his left foot stays down as a pivot throughout the spin moves.  It looks a little suspect because he is going heel/toe on that foot, but that's allowed in all levels of basketball.

Long story short, in the NBA that is not a travel by rule.

Because apparently Klutch and the lawyers are going to use the reaction from Philly fans to go to a judge to claim he was in a hostile work environment and try and get the $$$$ back Simmons paid in fines for missing time with the 76ers. It's pathetic and embarrassing and if I was a Klutch Client I'd want to terminate my deal with them effective immediately for all of the shenanigans.

I know your thoughts on this are well established, but if you're a Klutch Client and saw this you'd be thrilled. This is your agent/agency doing everything possible to get their client the most money they possibly can - the reason you hire an agent.

He is sitting on the bench.  Think he stays out there the whole game?

I think he stays there long enough Klutch says it's a good enough example to take to court for hostile environment. He then heads to the locker room and goes back to the team bus in the 4th QTR well before anyone leaves for security reasons.

Saw a photo on the security tonight and it's a bit ridiculous though. They acting like it's game 7 of the Finals out there. Half the crowd wasn't even in the building by 6:15 tonight. I know it's a half hour later start then Mondays game but when I went Monday literally 75% of the crowd was already in the building. Buddy of mine runs security down on game days in the parking lots and there sure are a lot of people down there more then usually. Says a lot of them don't seem like they are really sixers fans as much as they are just there for an excuse to get hammered. Haven't heard about any bad behavior yet or seen any reports.

Reporter on TNT just said these were the most anticipated tickets in the last decade.

$4k for floor seats, $200 for nosebleeds.

Yeah if you don't have Morales and a spoiled entitled brat sure. Me myself I'd have left them the minute they tried to bring the mental illness into the picture. I'm more of the guy if I was on the 76ers and a team vet and saw Ben acting like this I'd be telling Joel and everyone else F that guy he quit on us we don't need that on the team or guys who aren't willing to sacrifice. I'd be more like MJ or Kobe who you know dam sure would've called Simmons out earlier then what Embiid did. Would've told him suck it up butter cup mommy and daddy aren't here this is the big leagues. If you can't adult then go home because I don't want that type of energy. And as for the 76ers acting like they wanted him back. I'd have been marching upstairs to the FO and Tell Doc and Morey they are crazy and if there's any chance you want such a baby and quitter on our roster still then I'm going to have to ask you to please trade me to a team with a backbone.

I think Simmons is overrated but he does have talent and it sickens me seeing guys like him and others throw it away being entitled little babies. I'm the type of person who likes to compete and anything that gets in my way of that I'll take action on. I'm usually all for Players against organizations on most stuff but the NBA out of every sport is filled with entitled drama filled babies who throw temper tantrums if they don't get their way. Given KD's comments about Simmons already I already see that not lasting long there.

And honestly to be frank here James Harden didn't do anything different then Ben Simmons did besides not throw a mental illness card in there.

Yeah Stubhub was ridiculous. I got tickets for my Bulls for Mondays game paid $62 right after the Harden trade but within 5 hours the same section and 2 seats next to what I got went from $62 to over 3OO. The Nets game was more ridiculous and I'm laughing at most people because a lot of people bought tickets in anticipation Simmons would play when he never was. I just don't get people spending that kind of money to boo someone.

I guess a lot of people are really hurt that couldn't handle the truth back before he was drafted what a fraud he was and defending him to death. So now they are like the hateful ex who wishes death on them. Not saying fans don't have a right to be upset with the guy but I think the team is getting a pass on how it handled Simmons day 1 from people. They enabled the behavior from him rather then giving him some pull but then telling him no on certain things. Its like the parents who yes their kids their whole life and they become spoiled to when they get to adulthood whenever they hear no or don't get their way they don't take accountability. Usually people on get mad at that person but no one comes in and says better parenting would've stopped this most likely

If Brooklyn gonna be playing like this, plus Ben on his way, they'll be in the ECF. Way too much firepower.
Really love the team they've put together with Curry/Mills/Harris/Thomas/Dragic when all healthy. Atop Durant/Irving. Bombs away around Ben. I'd be surprised if Ben isn't playing quite a bit of 5 come playoffs and sprinkle Aldridge/Drummond in.

I don't think you can play Simmons/Drummond together for significant minutes (if at all)

Yep.  Harden never really made much sense for that team other than the 3 superstar narrative.  I feel for Philly fans.  This type of production is about what you can expect from him come playoff time.

Embiid bowling over KD in the post lol. This game is straight playoff environment. I love this.

Including Harden being in full playoff form.

Games where Embiid didn't managed to shoot at least 30% from the floor this season:

  • Tonight vs Brooklyn - 29.4%
  • 10/26/21 vs NYK - 28.6%
  • 3/5/22 vs Miami - 26.7%
  • 11/29/21 vs Orlando - 25.0%
  • 12/1/21 vs Boston - 17.6%
A list of games over the last two seasons where Jokic shot less than 30%:

A Philadelphia fan who has been yelling toward Nets’ Ben Simmons has been removed from his seat to exit the arena.

😂 Down 50 I'm sure that trash talk had a big impact   Won't even beat traffic given the games been long over. Great move Einstein.

About as brilliant as receivers signaling 1st down down 5 touchdowns in the 4th quarter

Wow, that's really impressive.  Consistency should be more of a consideration in MVP voting.

I think if I saw that, I’d be upset and demand Klutch hire better lawyers because there’s no way that’s going to work.

Bad ball movement. Dribbling into bad spot and getting stuck. Too much iso and bad shots. Lackadaisical D. Shot like 30% or something. Ugh.

The Nets team is very well constructed outside of Center. When Ben gets back, if they play him at point-center, they may not lose a game.

Philly looked really bad last night on offense.  Harden tried to force a lot of one on one stuff and wasn't getting bailed out with calls.  He looked like complete crap and even Embiid's ridiculous number of FT's wasn't enough to even make the game competitive.

No one can really keep Kyrie/Durant down on offense, but if you are going to beat them you MUST control the glass and dominate them on offense because they are at least a little bit vulnerable there.

The Celtics put up a pretty good blueprint, but once Simmons is playing things will be different.  Of course the wild card is whether Kyrie will be allowed to play at home in the playoffs.  But with them likely being in the play-in tournament, they will be playing more road games in the playoffs.  I feel bad for whichever 1 or 2 seed that draws them in the first round...that's just not fair to be matched up with a title contender right out of the gate.

I posted this right after the big trade - but as a long time Nets fan I like this team so much better post trade.  It felt dirty cheering for Harden after what he pulled to get there.  This team is better set up for the playoffs and long term.  They dug a pretty big hole though - and they need NYC to lift the ban on Kyrie - if that happens and Simmons comes back to give them anything positive it should be interesting.

can Doc get em ready for a big one or what?!
Starting to think the 2/3 seed is better than the 1 seed.  Depends I guess how fast Brooklyn can climb up the rankings, but if they can't catch chicago/boston, they'll likely play the 1 seed in the semis.

The East is so good right now though.

kinda helps that the nets made every shot they took as well.

I don't a few on here sure but most I really don't. Trust me if you had to live around them from tanking till now you wouldn't. The only reason the Sixers didn't lose by 5O last night was because the refs called all the flops by Joel Embiid in his favor as fouls.

The irony of this trade is that Harden is no different being a baby as Ben is. Only difference is one older and shoots really good while the other isn't as good as he was advertised and scared ####less to shoot. Harden how he left Brooklyn was pretty bad but the 76ers didn't care because their cry baby was gone and Harden can shoot.

BTW Harden was seen at a Philly nigh club after the loss with Travis Scott and some other clown I'm not sure of. Great optics look for him after a national TV loss. Scott btw is now dating Ben Simmons Ex Kylie Jenner to make this story even juicier.

We know who the real MVP is Joker plus if we don't give it to him who wants to deal with Joker's brothers because I don't.

Bingo that too. I want my agent to be smart and all. I want a Boras/Rosenhaus who the public eye think are scum of the earth but honestly they are hard negotiators who actually respect and make things personable with their clients. Drew every week is  at least at one Sunday day game, the Night match up and MNF game seeing his clients making sure things are ok if he can get to them. Scott Boras is a shrewd negotiater but when Bryce Harper gave Boras his parameters of the team he wanted and contract Boras obliged. Give me those guys not Klutch and whats his face who are only in it for themselves. Klutch doesn't respect their clients other then Lebron who will be the owner of them when he retires. They just use the clients as stepping stones to more $$$$$.

No, they will be in the first play in game and if they win, they'll play the 2-seed.  The 8 is perfect for them if they can't have Kyrie at home, because they get the first play-in game on the road and then start the 2/7 series with 2 games on the road.  They could possibly be coming home up 2 games against Philly, Miami or Milwaukee and get to avoid Boston until the ECF.

I'm not even into the social/gossip stuff but Travis Scott and Jenner have a kid together and been at it for a while now.

Yeah I knew that I just thought it was ironic that Harden who was traded for Simmons is hanging out with a guy who's Girlfriend is Simmons Ex.

I only knew Scott and Jenner were together because of the idiot move Scott made at his concert and seeing reports that Kylie was really concerned for the Victims and was pretty upset with Scott over it.

Came across this top 25 players list and have almost no qualms with it.  Liked where they put everyone and the write ups. It's almost like someone that knows basketball was involved.  They even talked about defense.

Hard to argue with the top 3, regardless of the order, although Luka will be crashing it sooner rather than later.

Durant isn't durable enough to be number 1 or even 2 or 3, and while James at his best is still as great as anybody, his durability is taking a hit as he gets older.  Part of being the best is staying healthy and being available, and neither Durant nor James check that box in 2022.

My understanding is that Devin Booker, Karl Anthony-Towns and Zach LaVine would be eligible for super-max contracts/extensions after the season if they are on any of the top three All-NBA teams. Which of them make it?

I continue to be baffled by the lack of love for Gobert. The narrative that he's not good in the playoffs (some truth, way over blown) is keeping people from accepting his greatness. Having KAT and Mitchell above him is nonsense.

17th best player in the league for someone with his offensive limitations seems about right and a testament to how valuable he is on defense.
