Since I never saw it posted… Patrick Beverley defended Luka Doncic on 28 possessions this season. Luka did not make a single shot, was blocked once, and turned the ball over twice.

What Trae Young is doing with an Atlanta team with no Collins, Bogdanovic missing some time, no Reddish—is pretty remarkable.  I’m personally looking for all of the playoffs to start.  I think there will be some solid matchups in both conferences.

I guess my homerific take of the day is that I think a Mavs-Bucks series would be pretty competitive. Both play similar styles of team defense with great rotations and a fun brand of basketball. 

Plus, I'm sure there are some games Giannis comes out on top, but I did love Luka's 32-8-15 today.

Also any time someone falls for the Dwight Powell pump fake I lose my mind.

Looked like he tweaked the foot bad and was out for back half of Q1. Did tweak it, but not bad enough to keep him out. Still fighting thru it for now.

Crazy to me. I know it's bad optics to just give up on a season, but clearly both AD and Bron are going to be fighting injuries and risking re-injury the rest of however long their season lasts. Is it worth it that much to try and get back in for an 8 seed and likely get smoked by Phoenix? I don't think they'd fare much better if they got the 7 seed against Memphis with both those guys less than 100%.

Nothing quite as good for a struggling perimeter player as playing the Lakers' perimeter defenders. A close second is playing the Nuggets' guard defenders. Barton and Westbrook are both looking really good today.

 
Stupid Lakers. It was a long shot anyway, but this pretty much locks the Wolves in at #7 where they have a great chance to ruin their most exciting season in a long time.

The Jazz are a dumpster fire right now. If they had 4 competitive teams left (they don't they play the Thunder and Blazers plus the Suns in the second to last game of the season), I would put money on them losing out. I still think it's possible they lose 3 of 4 to give our Wolves a chance.

yeah I'd feel good about catching the Jazz if they didn't have the tiebreaker. 

 
Wolves need 40 threes in their last 3 games to reach the 3rd most all-time in a season. Crazy.

He's a shoe in for 1st team All-D, but this would surprise me.  I guess the struggles of the Jazz bringing down Gobert's bid and Draymond's injury kind of opened the door for someone else.

here's the thing - the sport of basketball has been advanced thru the decades by guys who could say "stop this!" and back it up. there have been better defensive players than Maaaacus Smaaaat, but he's the only one i've ever seen who says "ima make thisguy/theseguys feel a fool" and do it. Bill Russell could get anyone off their game, but this'n's the only one can pants a guy for drill on D like a guy with a great handle can with the ball. it's a joyous thing

 
So this is interesting. The Lakers season is basically over, Lebron is sitting out again tonight, and they have 3 games left. Naturally you'd expect Lebron to just sit out the rest of the year. However, he can salvage a little something for his legacy if he can win the scoring title and he's currently the leader. However you're required to play 58 games to qualify for the title and he's at 56, or have enough of a lead where if you stretch your total points scored out over that 58 games you'd still be the leader. Lebron doesn't have that with a super narrow lead over Embiid and Giannis. So the smart thing would be for him to just shut it down, but he's going to have to play in 2 of the last 3 and hold off those two guys if he wants the scoring title. And I would bet, understandably, that he does (although I'm sure he'll be ripped for it despite the fact that any other player would do the same thing).

They have to make hay while the sun shines - because the Lakers won't have anything relevant to talk about for the next 6 months. Or until the next goofy exploit of LeBron Pelinka.

The irony is that the people ripping him the most for all of this scoring and going after the scoring title are usually the people who rip him for passing too much.  First, it's he is not shooting enough, and now he is shooting too much. :lol:   Plenty to criticize James for over the years, but this is just silly.

To take it to an even more pathetic level, Lindy Waters (who has been on a 3 point shooting tear lately with 21 made 3s in his last five games) checked in during the first quarter, made 2 threes and scored 8 points, had a plus 5 rating in four minutes, was subbed out, and hasn't seen the floor again. None of that quality play for the Thunder.

And yet they still won! :lmao:  24 & 21 for good ol' Jaylen Hoard. Nobody can out-tank the Blazers.

Crazy if the Raptors have to play the Bucks Round 1. They seemingly can't free themselves of that matchup. Bucks are the only team I wouldn't take the Raptors over in a Round 1 matchup if they're fully healthy.

Siakam's playing the best ball of his career. Barnes is a stud in waiting and they've got solid complimentary pieces.

Bulls continue look abysmal. The stat's been posted a few times how they literally can't beat anyone worth a damn and Ball's not returning this year. Gonna be a quick appearance IMO for them in the playoffs no matter who they face.

Of all these guys, I've only heard of Kalaitzakis, and that's only because the Bucks were the team who drafted him and brought him over from Greece.

 
Jordan's 2002 Wizards won 37games, never lost 7 in a row and would have made the play-in tournament.  But he had a lot of help, like Jerry Stackhouse, Larry Hughes, Christian Laettner, Kwame Brown, and Ty Lue.

As a Celtics fan, I want no part of the Raptors in the first round.

3 seed is the sweet spot for the Bucks/Celtics/Sixers. Get to face the reeling Bulls instead of the Raptors or Nets.  Miami keeping the 1 seed was important for them as well to avoid that same issue. Of course there is a chance that the Nets lose the first play-in game and end up as the 8. Cavs can be dangerous in a single game situation. I think ultimately each of the 1-4 teams move on, but 2 of the first round series will be compelling in the East.

I keep going back and forth between wanting the #3 for this exact reason and wanting the #2 to avoid the potential for having to play two road series.

I was gonna point out Jordan didn't have the handicap of a high-volume scorer chucking up a ton of inefficient shots no matter how hard anyone tried to convince him otherwise, like LeBron did with Westbrook this season. Then I saw the bolded name.
