*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (2 Viewers)

Yeah, that hit wasn’t good, but it’s Boston, it should be expected.

In other news, Tampa beats Calgary 4-1 in Nikita Kucherov’s return. The former Hart winner logged a pair of assists on the night.

Who the hell is this Frederic guy for Boston? May have just ended Kaprizov's season after earlier ripping off Zuccarello's helmet while both players being held by the ref.

Someone should break his legs. And I'm sure the league will do nothing, because they never do.
7 minutes of ice time, 16 minutes in penalties. Why would anyone (Mark Messier) give this goon the benefit of the doubt?

that hit didn't seem that bad to me? sucks that someone got hurt by it, but I don't see anything to go crazy over.

A millisecond? I don't think so. And neither does seemingly every neutral party I've seen comment - except ESPN and now you.

The guy had already taken a few runs at Kaprizov earlier in the game. He finally achieved what appeared to be his intent from the start.
Brasky is not a neutral party.   And it was a millisecond. He was already preparing to hit him before he lost da puck.

@CapFriendly: SJ #Sharks have placed Evander Kane on Unconditional Waivers for the purpose of contract termination.

As a result of the termination, Kane will forfeit $22,885,000.

Kane's cap hit for the remainder of this season, as well as for the following three, will come off SJ's books. https://twitter.com/CF_Transactions/status/1479894122588692485
So is this where Evander Kane and Antonio Brown are going to become roommates now?

@KKurzNHL: The Sharks’ Evander Kane contract termination stems primarily from him traveling to Vancouver while COVID positive, according to multiple sources.

I don't understand the Rem Pitlick waiver move.  guy is a player.  must be cap/roster space related.  still seems weird they would choose him, pretty obvious he wouldn't sneak through.

Russo said the spot was needed for a bottom 6 type player and they felt Dewar was better suited for that than Pitlick

Habs say thank you. First up, make sure he gets covid, then when he returns play him on the 4th line with Pezetta and Paquette

I'm very glad to see Chris Kreider get an all-star nod this year.  I'm admittedly biased, and each time he has scores I call him all-star Chris Kreider, it's a nice achievement for him.  That said, it probably came at the expense of a more willing player as Shesterkin is probably one of the top 2-3 goalies in the world right now.  Rangers are at a tipping point here, imho as they have a very good window of opportunity to make deep playoff runs, but they are a player or two away and need to trade away some young talent to go for it now.  They're 5v5 stats are atrocious but they are definitely getting it done.  Not saying this could be the year, but this could be the year 🙏

I watch a lot of other teams broadcasts because I love me some betting, and I used to be convinced that Florida's team was the worst, but I think the Avs team may have them beat.  They anointed Kadri as the most valuable player in the league the other night and said that Saros had to be considered the best or second best goalie in the league.  Now don't get me wrong, Kadri's been a bit of a blinder there racking up tons of assists, but I'm not sure he's even the best player on his team as Makar is just incredible.  And Saros is a nice goalie, but come on.

I really liked what I saw from Schneider last night, not even counting the goal. At this point, I would trade Kandre Miller and Zac Jones. Those are the guys who will have the most interest and value. The issue will be getting a young center or right winger who will replace them as young, entry level contract guys. You can not trade either of those guys for a rental.
Trade Kravstov and a first for rental players. Trade both for a guy who has 1 year left on a team friendly contract.

i agree on jones and miller.  i think miller has value to get a young top 6 guy.  miller is charmin soft and i don’t think his game translates well in the playoffs.  i’d be ok with nemeth moving into his spot with trouba and using schneider with someone else on the 3pair.  they need a rw badly, maybe kraptsov brings them back something, cause he will never play a game for the rangers.  also, this othmann guy seems like an awesome prospect.

Dumbest part of hockey.

You checked me hard so now we’re sending someone to fight you.

I love a good fight when it’s warranted, but sometimes it’s just nonsense.

If you are on the ice.....you don't get the same view we do.  You see a guy down, you respond.  Not saying its right but giving perspective.

Nice to have Wild back mostly full strength.

Colorado was biggest favorite I’ve ever seen in the NHL tonight (-660) but tied 2-2 right now

Another day, another Bolts win, as they beat Dallas 3-1. My apologies for no recap on Thursday, a friend of mine lost his fight with Covid after contracting it shortly before Christmas. He was an older guy, but he was a good friend, and while I’ll miss him, I’ll see him again.

Are the Oilers even fixable? A goalie would go a long way but who is available... Korpisaalo? Georgiev?

Hyman contract is what it took to get him but will limit their flexibility in the coming years.

My Leafs-centric perspective is spreading that $$$ over Kase, Bunting, Kampf and Ritchie was exactly right for Toronto (even with Ritchie doing nothing) but also probably what Edmonton needed to do, to have real depth on the 3rd/4th lines.

Sorry for your loss.

I was at the game Saturday. After nearly two years it was great to get out to a game again.  Channelside has changed so much I had trouble finding my way around the area,

Sorry to hear that man.

The NHL has revealed an extensive update to the 2021-22 regular-season schedule.

The changes will allow all 32 teams to complete 82-game schedules by the regular season’s original closing date of Friday, April 29. New dates have been announced for 98 contests that had been postponed. Additionally, 23 other matches got dates changed to accommodate the updates. The NHL has 95 games scheduled during the 16-day stretch from Feb. 7-22 when the league was going to pause for the Olympic break.
