i'm not debating his faith. i'm saying that his faith interferes with his ability to play(win at all costs) and lead a group of violent men, that don't share his beliefs(for the most part). his faith is what tells me, he and ruggs weren't best buddies, like you seem to think they were. i don't think carr is tight(off the field) with anyone that isn't a fellow bible thumper.
it's just my opinion. and as all ways, what the #### do i know?
warner was an anomaly. reggie white is a bad man. i see zero of either in carr.
I just threw those guys out as the most readily available, most well know examples.
Seriously... pro sports, as well as the NFL, is full of "Bible Thumpers" and it is a ridiculous position to say anyone of faith is somehow less of an athlete or competitor.
Some are more out spoken than others. I know a retired MLB player who is just as much as a "Bible thumper" as Carr who was a 12 year big league player who had all-star and silver slugger award recognition. He was very involved with numerous other players that shared his faith.
When you see those guys kneeling after games or when someone is hurt... they are not inspecting the field.
It is absolutely ridiculous to take this position.
As for best buddies comment with Ruggs. I don’t know how exactly close they were but being he was texting Carr late at night for golfing tips tells me that they considered each other friends or at least that is better evidence to point to a conclusion than your religious bigotry. Other evidence would be how close this team is general and how they team visibly reacted to Carr being hurt in previous games. Further, being religious certainly does not mean you aren't friends with those thay are not.
These comments expose a prejudice you have much more than it actually informs anyone else of any insight into Carr. It may explain some vitriol you and maybe others have towards Carr as he is more vocal about his faith than others.
In the end, when he is in the pocket and defenders are bearing down on him as he goes through his progression... I promise you he is not thinking "what would Jesus do?" But maybe something closer to "time is running out, I need to get this ball out of here".
