That will be his last NFL moment.
I am impressed.A good win against a very good Colt team. This feels good.
Finish up against the Dolts next week. We win, we are in.
I wasn’t the one poopoo-ing Renfrow but was one wondering why Renfrow couldn’t put up similar numbers to Beasley last year if he was only made a focus in the passing game. I guess my wish came true in a very round about way, but Renfrow is freakin' nails. Love the guy.Renfrow, there was a discussion earlier this year or maybe off season about him and how good he was. I forgot who was arguing that he was nothing special. Whoever was... please see your way out. Thanks in advance. He is clearly one of the best Y receivers in the NFL right now. Beyond somehow both looking like a kid and a 40 year old at the same time and perhaps the least likely player in the entire NFL that you would spot on the street and think "that guy plays in the NFL", he is one of the better route runners in the league, one of the better set of hands in the league and better athleticism than you would think.
Agreed. And that was a bad take by @DocHolliday . This isn't a team of destiny that will somehow gel and run the table but to come away with 9 wins and be in charge of their own playoff destiny in week 17 is something that no one could reasonably expect after the turmoil they suffered is nothing short of amazing. They probably don't have any business being in the playoffs, but there is not a single team in the NFL that would purposely tank with 4 games left and being right in the middle of the playoff hunt. I don't even know how they could have gone about losing the last two games if they were "properly run".
I get it. It was a huge win today and I am truly impressed. Before all the chests puff out too much, the Raiders are still not a SB caliber team. They are lacking in talent. Having a winning record is nice. Winning Super Bowls is all that matters.Agreed. And that was a bad take by @DocHolliday . It also demonstrates that all the talk of a depleted roster, devoid of talent is a gross exaggeration propagated by Chicken Littles.
Sincerely, I am not trying to throw shade but win, lose or draw next week the sky is not falling in Las Vegas.
The Raiders have no business being in the playoffs. If they were run properly, they would have lost the last 2 games in order to draft earlier. This team needs to look to the future and put together a 2 - 3 year plan to build a talented and well coached team. The Raiders need more at HC and OC.
And I very clearly pointed out this is not a SB team. But calls to blow up the roster or tank for better draft position were pure hyperbolic nonsense. Moving the goalposts from that position to one where being in control of their own destiny in week 18 is a bad outcome because they won't win the SB doesn't change the fact that the original position was way off base (and so is the new one).I get it. You gotta let me poke some fun at this, right? But calls to blow up the roster or tank for better draft position were pure hyperbolic nonsense.
[snip]
Losing their HC, losing their #1 WR and best deep threat in the game
Would you prefer I add "arguably"?You gotta let me poke some fun at this, right?![]()
Losing Gruden was a positive move for the Raiders. Davis and all of us should still be celebrating that Gruden is no longer steering the ship past the correct draft picks. Losing Ruggs was a big loss but Lamb was the correct draft pick anyway. Tough to feel sorry for the team when they made the dumb decision that came back to bite them. And I very clearly pointed out this is not a SB team. Again, I sincerely am not trying to diminish or get over on you. But you have been Chicken Littleing in here all season and maybe it's time acknowledge that things are not nearly as bad as you have been making it out to be.
Losing their HC, losing their #1 WR and best deep threat in the game to horrific tragedy and still being in control in week 18 shows their arrow is pointing up, not a team on need of a complete reboot.
Just saying![]()
Excellent post, might I add they need to draft more DBs. Corners, safeties, slot corners, you name it. They need DB depth to stay competitive in the AFC West. If they can find their Patrick Surtain II and put him next to Mullen, it would make all the difference in the world. Hayward has played great but he's on the back 9 of his career. So what's the game plan for the off-season?
My take. Retool.
Keep Carr....unless you're getting Rodgers, Wilson, or Brady. You could do worse than Carr.
New coaching staff. Go after Daboll and get new DC. Bradley has done well with the defense, but he shows no creativity or being able to adapt. Good QBs like Mahomes can always beat the scheme.
Keep Mayock. There's been enough draft gems, smart contracts, and calculated moves that have turned out to see if Gruden was messing things up
We have tons of cap space and draft picks. Need help everywhere but WR needs to be priority. I feel if we still had Diggs our offense was about you explode since Carr was finally taking deep shots.
We're not a Super Bowl team yet, but we have a QB who's good enough, a solid O-line, and pass rush. Those 3 things are the foundation you need and the hardest to find.
Kind of funny about this... the DC who has pretty much had the most success against Mahomes and was copied to cause the offensive suckiness of KC early in the year was Bradley.Charlie Harper said:Bradley has done well with the defense, but he shows no creativity or being able to adapt. I could not agree with you more! Are these kids really this stupid?!How the hell do you even get close to smelling a drink and touching car keys in the same day after you saw a teammate throw his career away and looking at a long prison sentence after killing a woman?! Absolutely mind blowing.
It'd be cheaper than having Chesnoff and Schonfeld on retainer 24/7.Can the team just pay ahead for all Uber sessions or would that violate CBA?
I don't get that referenceIt'd be cheaper than having Chesnoff and Schonfeld on retainer 24/7.
Sorry it's the local law firm that keeps representing the Raider players.I don't get that reference
Nope. Dude was developing. Far from the best deep threat in the game.Chaka said:Would you prefer I add "arguably"?

Far??? Not by a long shot.Nope. Dude was developing. Far from the best deep threat in the game.
His 19.5 yards per reception is the best in the NFL this year.Far??? Not by a long shot.
Deebo, JaMarr...who else? Lockett? Sure, he's in the conversation I guess. No. Ruggs was legit (arguably) the best deep threat in the game.
The sample size is too small. Using chads logic, dj chark is a better deep threat, 22.5 avg, than all of those mentioned. But again, the sample size is too small to really judge. Lockett is a true deep threat, and he’s damn good at it.Far??? Not by a long shot.

All true, but nobody has mentioned he was making some tough catches too. He was no James Jett clone, he was rounding into a very good WR. Such a shame we will never get to see it.The sample size is too small. Using chads logic, dj chark is a better deep threat, 22.5 avg, than all of those mentioned. ruggs was definitely developing into a good deep threat. But for ME, I just don’t think he was one the best in the game. Yet.
Is rashad penny one of the best in the game? He really helped me win my magic football league.
I know I started this with my joke about hyperbole, but I just wanted to say that Ruggs looked SUPER promising and was actually delivering before the accident. and I totally agree he proved that he had hands as well. Pour one out for what might have been…All true, but nobody has mentioned he was making some tough catches too. He was no James Jett clone, he was rounding into a very good WR. You are hilarious. Dallas and Minny were not sorry that they ended up with Lamb and Jefferson instead of Ruggs on draft day and were thrilled even more as last season unfolded. They have to be really happy with their decision this season too, even before Ruggs was busy killing people. Now the decision looks so bad for the Raiders that we really should try to forget him rather than defend the draft pick every day. Sadly, Ruggs was not even close to being the worst draft pick in the last 3 years. His 19.5 yards per reception is the best in the NFL this year.
In only playing 7 games for the year he has half many (4) 40+ as the current leaders (8) multiple tied. Projected over the season he would have the most 40+ receptions on the league. If you project the 20+ plays he would be tied for third most.
His presence clearly made a difference to the offense as a whole and he was obviously becoming an individual threat.
His speed was unquestioned. Before the accident he was showing the ability to be male plays like a #1.
Some who hated his pick and were always vocal about it refuse to acknowledge anything more than him being a decoy because his selection was their favorite proof of negative commentary on Gruden.
Though I think the early stages of the careers of Lamb and Jefferson show them to be superior receivers to Ruggs (which is somewhat funny as Jefferson was never in the discussion, it was always Jeudy or Lamb as 1A and 1B then Ruggs and the the second tier lead by Jefferson etc) I would argue that Ruggs brought more to the entire offense than Lamb or Jefferson bring to theirs.
We will never know rhe projectory of what his career could have been but to say that Ruggs did not earn the right to be talked about as one of the best deep threats in the league early this season is utmost silliness. The stats show otherwise and anyone really watching the games without an agenda would agree with the stats.
While I agree with you about the playoff expectations, you have to look at it from the players' points of view. The fact that through all the BS, chaos, tragedy and all the other obstacles they had to overcome, they are at the doorstep of the playoffs. I for one am completely shocked they are here. Says a lot about the chemistry in the locker room. Without a HC, the players are at least taking ownership. For that I give them credit. You are hilarious. Dallas and Minny were not sorry that they ended up with Lamb and Jefferson instead of Ruggs on draft day and were thrilled even more as last season unfolded. They have to be really happy with their decision this season too, even before Ruggs was busy killing people. Next we are going to hear that Cincy would rather have Ruggs over Chase because Ruggs would really open up the O for Boyd and Higgins.
Here is a different perspective which shows just how little we expect from the Raiders. If the Raiders sneak into the playoffs, many fans are going to be ecstatic. Steeler fans are used to winning and consider the season a failure even if they sneak into the playoffs. Some fans are even calling for the removal of Tomlin.
