2021 PGA Tour - (2 Viewers)

There have been 4 major winners since 2000 that birdied 17 and 18 in the final round.

Tiger Woods, 2000 PGA Championship

Charl Schwartzel, 2011 Masters

Phil Mickelson, 2013 Open Championship

Jon Rahm today.

I won't lie, to see JR hit those putts in a 10 minute span, and including the covid crap he went through and how he dealt with it, and on Father's Day, and his wife's amazing physique....it meant something to me.  Maybe I was impacted by the NBC narrative, but his enthusiasm worked for this viewer.

I can’t remember a player being so great tee to green and missing so many 6-10 Ft puts …… only to finally come alive the final two holes.  If Rham had even slightly better results when putting for bird he would have won by 4 strokes.

i won’t call the ending “disappointing” because the Oost/Rham battle was entertaining but I will say we all may have lost a potential all time finish.  Rory, X, Bryson and even some of the early players like Bryson and Mori…. When most of the field hit the turn all of these players were within 2 strokes.  Could have been an all timer.

I expected some to melt down like Henley and Wolff, but not the mistakes I saw from DeChambeau, Morikawa, Rory and even Koepka.  Could have been an all timer as some have mentioned but Rahm would have won anyway.  Clutch. Happy for him.  Class act and it looks like he's harnessing the hot head side a bit with maturity.  If he does there is no stopping him.  He was #3 in the world being a hot head and iffy putter.  He'll be #1 soon and could stay there awhile.

Eh. We’ve seen this story a few times. Guy gets to #1 and looks unstoppable. Ready to dominate the way that other guy did. And, it doesn’t really happen. Rahm has the new baby, wife, 1st major. It’s more likely he’s just really good and content to win occasionally when he’s got his best stuff.

It’s on the table.  DJ went into God mode for a few months last year.  It could be Rhams turn, even if it’s just for 3-6 months.

I don't mean Tiger dominance.  I just mean get to #1 and be there for awhile.  If not him - who else? Koepka doesn't show up outside of Majors.  Maybe Bryson.  Maybe Morikawa if he putts better.  JT - I don't see him getting much better.

Happy for Rahm, great finish.  Would have been happy with Oost as well. Wish he'd hit the fairway on 17 and 18.

They’re all fairly interchangeable. Which, is good for golf. Bryson’s meltdown surprised me yesterday. I guess that’s kind of what I mean though. None of these guys really stands out as head and shoulders better. Last year it was DJ. Spieth a couple years before him. Rory before him. Rahm could be #1 for a bit.

oost didn’t need to hit the fairway on 17.  he just couldn’t hit the ball left and out of bounds, yet, the only shot he couldn’t possibly have, he had.  he pars 17 and his 18th birdie gets him into a playoff.  he had 1 job and he failed on 17.  no idea what dechambeau did after his near ace.  ive not see. those shots by pros in a long time.

I heard him talk about that driver selection on 17...he was going for the win with a birdie-birdie finish, just missed the shot.  But i can't fault him for the club anyway.  He looked quick, the pressure got him.

Anyone just see that fortuitous "kick" or bounce from the gallery on Bubba's tee shot? From the rough 90 degrees to the fairway.
