Fun bit of trivia:

Super Bowl winners and their bye week that season:

2016: Patriots (Week 9)

2017: Eagles (Week 10)

2018: Patriots (Week 11)

2019: Chiefs (Week 12)

2020: Bucs (Week 13)

2021 teams with a bye this week (Week 14): Eagles, Patriots, Dolphins, Colts :oldunsure:
Well crap, the Pats are winning another SB.

I'm still of the opinion if the Eagles are out of it the last 2 weeks start Minshew. You got to see what you have in both guys at least.
The only way I’m good with them pulling Hurts is if he starts to decline like he did at the end of last season. Other than that you have to let him play. We have 3 first round picks at stake and if he’s poor you will have to go in a different direction. If he’s improving than we can take 3 defensive guys, BPA or even deal them to get more picks in 2023 to address that position. Him playing as much as possible is paramount, IMO.

The Dallas/Washington game is going to have a "good" outcome for Eagles fans this week:

  • If Dallas wins, it knocks Washington down a game in the standings for the last Wild Card spot we are chasing
  • If Washington wins, it means Dallas lost which always warms our hearts
But, in the spirit of self-interest, if you want the Eagles to make the playoffs you have to "root" for Dallas (even indirectly, if you are just "rooting" for Washington to lose.) However, if you would rather we have a better draft pick closer to the lower teens than the higher teens, it's "Go Washington!"

I'm hoping for a double forfeit due to a plethora of COIVD violations by both teams.

Y’all come hop on board our chuckwagon! 😂  I’ll pass out blindfolds so you don’t have to watch, ala Sandra Bullock in The Bird Box.

Personally, I don't find it that hard to root for the Skins against any team other then the Eagles. If the Eagles can't win, I MUCH prefer the Skins to either the Boys or the Giants.

I don't understand this "rooting for Dallas" thing people have in mind. We play the skins twice. We control the outcome on the field with how things will go there. Even if they win this week, we beat them next week and we're tied. If we're going to make the playoffs, we have to win games. Losing one to the skins pretty much ruins that for us either way.

correct, but we have a bye so if we happen to be watching that game, we may as well root for someone.  Dallas winning gives us a BETTER shot than dallas losing.

I don't see it as better either way. If we beat the Skins twice we take care of that. Cheering for the Cowboys is basically expecting us to lose to them at least once. In which case we aren't making the playoffs then.

We can still lose a game to the skins and very much still be in the playoffs. Even if there's a 1 percent chance we make playoffs by losing a game to the skins (which there is), then why would we not at least want it?

Im not saying sitting at your tv screaming for dallas to win, but there's still a chance it's relevant so yes I'd rather Washington lose to Dallas if I could choose the winner.

And I'm saying, I don't care either way. So long as the Skins cover the +4.5.

Sounds good, that makes a bit more sense why you don't want dallas to win then.

For me, I'll cheer for any and every thing that benefits us, or even COULD benefit us.

So My ASD stopped me at work today and asked me my last name (he's newer to the store since AUg). Says I won a raffle. So I ask him what BS job did I get volunteered for I have to save you guys on. He says you'll love this one (which he usually says) Turns out I won a raffle for FREE EAGLES TIX TO THE WASHINGTON GAME NEXT SUNDAY!!!!! Not sure details if it's just me or a whole bunch of other employees involved or where the Tix are. I had already taken off do to plans already (Was going to watch 1st half at home) but now those plans are obviously canceled. I didn't believe him so he showed me the text my Store Director sent him. Never win things like this and super pumped. Don't care where the seats are but bonus if they are Club or some sort of amenities.

I hope they're in the endzone and Hurts hands you a ball after a TD.

Thanks Deamon, The Boys couldn’t have done it without your support. 😊

Honestly I'm not sweating the playoffs. We make it?  Terrific!  If we go 2-2 these next 4 games, and miss the playoffs at 8-9 tho - I will still consider it a successful season, considering we are coming of a 4 win disaster with almost no hope.

We have some hope, we some bright spots to look at. Even with Hurts being still a big ??.

Seems like both Hurts and Heinicke could be limited in practice this week to help get them both ready to play Sunday. Just need some snow or rain to really ugly this game up!

FYI, with SF winning yesterday we still don't "control our destiny" yet. 6th seed is pretty much out of reach because we lost to SF and we could go 4-0 and still not make it over MIN for the 7th spot, if they also go 4-0 (and they still have CHI to play twice.)

Yea, my gut says we go 2-2 these next games - split with Wash, beat Giants, lose to Dallas (assuming they are trying, maybe even if they aren't). That won't cut it.

I'm cool with a snow game actually snowing while the game is going on. Never been to one of those but honestly my buddy who's driving (and trying to get him down there early to tailgate with my cousin probably wouldn't help my case.

Yea, not sure.  Their defense has been really good since their bye a few weeks back. We're probably going to score ~20-25.  So we'll see which defense show up...

WAS is missing their whole 1st unit and 2nd unit on D-line now going through Covid issues

Which makes them still slightly better then the Giants defense that held us to 7..

Dunno, I have a feeling we're going to struggle a lot more then we should.  I hope I'm wrong.

It has hit their secondary now, too. So far we only have 2 positives, but with the way the rest of the NFL is testing positive this week, we're far from out of the woods.

They need to adjust their Covid rules or the remainder of the season is going to be a mess. Omicron being highly infectious but less severe is going to cause a lot of positive test results in both Vax and Unvaxxed players.

Has it been verified this is the Omicron variant?  But I do agree, from all reports you're not going to be able to handle it the same as the older variants.

I don't even know how they can tell the difference without putting it in a lab but it seems like a lot of people are testing positive lately but not as many going to the hospital or getting very sick. Just anecdotal from what I've seen IRL.

A team employee for Washington is the only confirmed Omicron case, no players yet or that we know of.

Who else tested positive for us? I know Quiz did. yeah 65 confirmed cases now NFL sent a memo that all Tier 1 through 3 employees need to be boosted of Vaxxed now no questions. If they aren't eligible for the booster yet they have to get it with in 10 days of when they first can get it now. NFL is not messing around with this and were quick to send out the memo. Unlike the NBA's handling of things up to this point.

I've seen a lot of positives and confirmed non symptomatic. The Union had an outbreak prior to the MLS East Finals they lost do to half the squad out. Manager Jim Curtin confirmed after the match most of those players positives were showing no signs of the virus effecting them either or very minimal symptoms. Two of their players had comeback from an Omicron hotspot from international break playing in South Africa. However a member of the Union staff a family member may have gotten it too. A lot of things went into that outbreak and no one could confirm it being just one thing.

Saw a blurb that Minshew is sharing first team reps.  I can see both sides of the argument of starting Jalen or starting Minshew.  Just fearful that if Minshew plays and plays well (albeit against WTF practice squad) it’ll be a full blown QB controversy.
