2022-2023 NBA Salary Cap Draft - First Annual Battle for the Wikkid Cup (3 Viewers)

Thank God I didn't enter this. I would have DEFINITELY drafted redacted and redacted by now and still had PLENTY of money left over. You guys would have been so angry.

2.13 Desmond Bane MEM $2,130,240

An efficiency monster at a rock bottom salary. Thought Haliburton may drop to this pick, but the value players went earlier than anticipated. I'll lock mine up here.

Bane's a deadly, volume shooter from 3 and he's one tough SOB. Love his game and he'll be able to fit with an array of the bigger name players that will be added in later rounds.

This is who I debated with Haliburton. I had a sliver of hope he'd come back in round 3 but doubted it.

If I hadn't gone cheap in the first round, I probably would have taken him with my pick

He wasn't making it past me :kicksrock:

2.15 Cade Cunningham G $10,552,800

A bit of an upside pick, hoping he makes some strides from last year. He has the makings of a do-everything helio-centric lead guard with the chops to also be a plus defender. I think in the ecosystem I will create, he'll be in a MUCH better situation to maximize his skills and hopefully provide him a little more spacing to operate with, and his size will create some defensive flexibility with the rest of the lineup.

@Desert_Power

3.1 Keldon Johnson

We'll add third scoring option next to Lebron and Curry who is good from beyond the arc at 39.8% last year (on fire from deep to start this year too at 16-40 through 5 games). Most importantly, he is actually below my average cost per spot remaining. See you guys in two rounds to pick through the scraps.

Can't open google sheets at work, can someone @ the next for me?

I love this team so far and really appreciated the zig while everyone else was zagging with the two high salary picks. There is a very good chance that the bench will be a total dumpster fire, but it is/was a worthy gamble.

Wow. Another one going super early. Not a bad pick by any means but I'm shocked at how we're valuing price.

That said...on the uber awesome LeBron/Steph start it makes a lot more sense.

3.2 - Mikal Bridges - $20,100,000, SF PHX

Wanted a guy I would love and can rely on on both ends that wouldn't break the bank. Couple of guys I would have wanted over him are just too expensive with what I already have in place.

He was All-D last year and a very efficient scorer. I believe he is the best "glue-guy" in the league right now.

3.3 SF Paul George, LAC - $42M

Expensive for sure, but a legit 2-way super star. With 2 relatively cheap all-stars already on board in Murray and Sabonis that gives me a really nice core for under $80M.

@Chemical X
This was the guy I really wanted but that salary would have killed the rest of my roster.

Yeah. I could pretend that I think Keldon has a lot of upside as the focal point of a pretty bad team, but it is mostly gaming out what the board could look like 28 picks from that.

Man. I don't wanna jinx it but I think I may have the choice of 3 guys I like...knowing that NONE of them will come back to me. I hate this.

DP has no choice but to value cheap starter level players and I think Johnson was one of two really legitimate plus starters left for under $5M. There are another handful of decent starters left at that price, but none who I think are at Johnson's level.

3.5 Jordan Poole $3,901,399

Surprised he lasted this long. Am I missing something?

As compared to Tyler Herro, maybe, but he was the other plus-starter level player that was under $5M left that I was referring to. I feel like this was about the right spot for him given his salary, but he isn't a top 50 NBA player, probably closer to top 100.

at a $10mm average salary IMO it’s gonna be hard finding functional humans under that threshold. i fear a lot of teams with around 8 solid players and then 7 hyper slugs.

Yeah. Him and Keldon where the two under $5mm left in my top 75

3.7 - Karl-Anthony Towns - Big - Timberwolves
Oh thank God I thought I was going to have to pair him with Embiid and figure out a roster around it. Would have been fun to do but not my first choice. Can't believe people took the likes of Allen and Sabonis ahead of him.
I was trying to figure out how to make his salary work, in case he fell to me. Way too talented to fall this far.

Wow, my short list from last round was wiped out pretty quickly (as I expected).

All except for this guy, much to my pleasant surprise.

Yo Mama selects:

3.08 - Scottie Barnes, TOR PF - $7,644,600

Most of the remaining guys from my TREMENDOUS VALUE tier (which have recently been drafted) were all at similar positions as my current team. Getting Barnes here is a steal and a great fit, and you should all be ashamed.
