Celts pull out a wild one as LeBron and AD just ran out of gas in OT.

Celts end 4th on a 17-4 run to send game to OT.

:lmao: :lmao:

I was so furious at how they were playing that I turned it off!! Slept in and didn't even realize they won until I read these posts.
How it went down for anyone else who foolishly turned it off.

To be fair, according to that article, the Lakers had a 99.2% win probability when I turned it off. I was starting to get really upset right before bed and my wife was giving me dirty looks, so I thought it would be best if I just quit watching.

Sure, the C's won, but my takeaway from the game is Boston still has meltdown issues. They didn't just look bad, they looked inept for essentially 15 minutes of play (you know what I mean, you were watching it). Turnover after turnover followed by 25-foot heaves as the shot clock expired. And they offered up very little resistance on defense either. The Lakers just took the ball to the rim whenever they wanted, and if they missed, they got almost every rebound for a foul or a put back. Boston was just giving the ball away and giving away easy buckets.

But then they got back to rebounding, pushing the ball, had better spacing, and got open looks. I can't explain why the offense just fell apart for so long, then suddenly like magic they got their normal open shots, got to the rim, and ended up getting their mojo back. One thing I will say about the Lakers, teams should let guys like Westbrook and AD shoot threes all game long. Their outside shooting is suspect. Not having Al or Timelord didn't help in defending the basket and having those two guys back would help some. But that's three games in a row they looked closer to early 2021 than most of 2022.

bangaroo bucks beat the warriors take that to the bank brochachos

I was at the game. Wondered if the national broadcast mentioned that Kevon Looney, Patrick Baldwin Jr. and Jordan Poole were all born and played high school basketball in Milwaukee? It seems like a really bizarre coincidence as we're not really a basketball hotbed here but somehow ended up with three local boys all on the same NBA team. Strange game otherwise - Warriors had the end of their bench in the game basically from the start of the 4th quarter onward and coach Bud eventually followed suit with over 5 minutes to go. Fan ejected after an interaction with Draymond; about 6 technical fouls that seemed like they came out of nowhere in a game that was essentially uncontested.

After a terrible loss to NY and getting handled by the Sixers, I was starting to fear the Kings were about to turn back into pumpkins. But they got a big win in Toronto tonight (3rd game in 4 nights). Fox and Sabonis are playing like all stars. I’m back in.

Was under this impression that Dallas had a good basketball team? Misplaced or?
They usually have 59 before half, not with 3 to go in the 3rd, so this strikes me as one of those outliers that happen sometimes in winter. Far from over though.

Cleveland is a really good team.

Dallas is one player.
Luka has to be on that unique list of great players who are miserable to play with, along with Harden and maybe Kobe during some of his mid 2000s seasons.

I've noticed him yelling at teammates in games from time to time, but that isn't too uncommon.

I'm hoping he's not a bad teammate, but if he is that will need to improve. He hasn't had enough team success yet to be able to ride his teammates and needs some guys to help get him there.

I'm not saying he's a bad guy or bad in the locker room. It's a style-of-play thing.

I think prime Jordan would have been on that list as well, but the winning probably made it easier. Trae Young may be close to tops on that list - he seems miserable to play with offensively but he's also a complete and total sieve defensively.

I’d agree as to 1980s Jordan. I think once you start winning titles it’s a different dynamic. Agreed on Trae - he sounds like he’s also a bit of a locker room problem too.

Tyler Herro is from Wisconsin, as well.

Kobe had Kwame Brown and Smush Parker. I'd be pissed too if my prime years were wasted like that.

I don't think it is a style of play thing with Luka. I think it is a total lack of anyone else to initiate offense. He didn't play like this in Spain, doesn't with Slovenia, and wasn't as bad when he was on court with Brunson. Rumors of Dallas looking at Quickley, which makes sense, and they need to get over themselves and start getting Hardy (who looks fantastic in G League and in his one bout of playing time in garbage time) some real minutes and accept some things.

They need to sacrifice some games they're losing anyways to revamp the offense so Luka isn't at close to 40% usage and constantly on ball. Accept some stupid mistakes in exchange for being able to push pace and move the ball and develop Green and Hardy as initiators. Let Wood do some more creative offensive stuff, and Dinwiddie can be a more catch and shoot threat instead of the only guy allowed to dribble when Luka sits.

Rumblings have started in Atlanta about whether Trae is the guy to build a team around. He's unbelievably fun to watch but it's a valid question.

Gawd - just bought 4 tickets in okay not amazing seats to watch Portland vs Detroit. $400. That's almost half the cost of my season tickets to Ducks football which is a way better form of entertainment IMO. Every game in college football matters. I doubt Lillard even suits up for this one. NBA: it's FANNNNNNNTASTIC!!!!!

Herro with 10-15 3s in a win over the Rockets. After making 9 3s in a win the night before over OK. Only Curry and Harden have had 9+ 3s in consecutive games. Tyler is hot, on offense.

Caught the end of Pels v Jazz last night that went to OT.

Interesting that the Jazz were actively hunting Zion with their guards down the stretch, trying to get him to switch onto Clarkson or Conley and attacking him 1 on 1 (and it worked).

The Pels were without Ingram or Alvarado. If they have either, they probably win that game, but the Jazz are tough with multiple scorers and a lot of size.

Yeah, blech. We couldn't do anything right in OT. We've been alright with B.I. for this stretch, and would much rather him get back to 100% for the end of the season. Not having Alvarado hurts a lot. He's the spark off of the bench. None of our bench guys performed up to their usual, which I attribute to being @ Utah. Tough place to play, for us anyway, it seems. 2 more tough ones coming up which very well could be losses. @PHX and Bucks at our place. Even if we drop both of those, not too worried.

Doncic needs to cut about 20 pounds and commit to defense.

The common argument is that he's carrying the offense, so his defense will naturally lapse. Part of that problem is he gets a lot of hard contact that doesn't get called, much like Steph Curry. The league is patently racist against Euros and guys like Curry. It's not even a secret. Some people get battered on a regular basis. Trae Young is one of them, because he committed the sin of doing well in the playoffs and bouncing some of the "favored sons" of the NBA.

Dallas is not a free agent destination. They don't have any good trade assets. They need to win in the mid round of the draft on a consistent basis. Rumors were that they were going to pick Saddiq Bey ( the obvious choice for them ) and then the card counter that Cuban hired decided to draft Josh Green instead.

Having Doncic on the roster means they'll always pick in the middle of the first round. So they have to just really mine that part of the draft and do excellent there.

Until then, they've got to commit to being a defensive oriented team, although they don't have that kind of personnel.

The other problem is the Mavericks need a traditional "enforcer" type to protect Doncic, but the league has all but informally outlawed those kind of players. When Doncic gets hit, they need to send Bertans out to kneecap someone for it.

Jonas Valanciunas, as bizarre as it sounds, would be a good fit with Doncic.

The Warriors figured it out quickly, but they had the advantage of getting ring chasers cheap. The total damage to Curry took a dive when Zaza Pachulia and David West showed up. Add them to Igoudala and Draymond Green and there was just way more physicality in place to protect Curry.

In effect, the Mavericks need to start a huge street brawl on the court. Let people know if they want to keep hitting Doncic, that someone is going to get hurt. I would literally sign Enes Kanter to a contract, just to start a fight. I'm almost sure that's part of why they got Christian Wood ( he's not tough, but he's insane)

That's where the modern NBA game, part of it, has failed. They removed the element of basic fighting. Sometimes these guys just need to punch each other and get it all out of their system.

Saddiq Bey is not that good of a basketball player and is nearly 2 years older than Josh Green. If that draft was held again today i am not sure who would go first between those two.

Great game between Pellies and Suns tonight. Booker goes for 58

Apparently Kemba Walker is still in the league & went for 32 tonight for Dallas
:wall: Booker was un-friggin-believable! We had that game and turnovered away a 24 point lead. :censored: I know Zion won't get calls because of his size, but Booker got a lot of help from the refs on many of his drives, whereas Zion seemingly wasn't given the same consideration. That was my only complaint. Take nothing away from Book, that dude was in god-mode. And I still want to punch Bridges in his smug face. Ah well, back to the Blender. Bring on the Bucks!

AD out at least a month...

And lord help the rest of the league if Wembanyama winds up in a Pellies uniform.

Anthony Davis is expected to miss at least one month with a right foot injury, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The odds of Victor Wembanyama ending up in a Pelicans jersey just went up dramatically. AD's surge helped the Lakers out of their slow start, but they still sit in 12th place in the Western Conference. Without their best player for at least a month (and given his injury history, it could be longer), the Lakers are going to have a tough time trying to make the postseason. Thomas Bryant should start in his place, and he had a big game after AD wasn't available for the second half of Friday's win over the Nuggets. Bryant needs to be rostered everywhere, but he won't be able to provide anywhere near the value that AD has to this point.

Celtics looking like the Monstars sapped all their talent. Shooting 20% from three and 24% overall against the Magic again. Only 41 points and down 9. Tatum scheduled day off.
