I think I found an error that will get me back in the contest. For some reason Carr was scored at .005 pts per yard instead of .05.
As much as I wish you were correct about Carr, It doesn't appear that you are.
Derek Carr had....
101 yards passing x .05 = 5.05
1 interception = (-1.00)
-1 yard rushing = ( - 0.10)
It adds up to 3.95 total points, and was reported a such.

Obviously an error. 3.95 pts for any QB being paid by an NFL team isn't remotely possible.

My bad... I didn't realize you were joking when you posted that.🤣

Edit: Plus, looking back, you would need Carr plus about 20 additional points to make the cut...

I thought the joke was having Carr as his QB

I'm hoping the side benefits of the trades had a net plus for my team:
1. Hockenson to Minn probably doesn't hurt his value and might improve it if he becomes a viable RZ target. The side benefit should be a bump in targets for Amon-Ra. Since I have both, I see it as a potential win-win.
2. With Claypool gone, the side benefit should mean a few more targets for Pickens, which I could really use to make up for Sutton's total flop.

Sutton was my biggest miss.

I don't have a lot of optimism for a turnaround either.

When the roosters locked, I thought I was in great shape with Goedert, Hockenson and Schultz at TE. While they certainly haven't produced like I hoped, I'm cautiously optimistic that TJ and Schultz might now come alive for the stretch drive.

The good news on the traded players moving back to bye week 14 (for owners who do not have those players) is a tendency for the week 14 cut line to be slightly lower due to more potentially good players being on bye in a week that already has 6 NFL teams idle.

Personally, I'm hoping for a bump from Amon-Ra, and possibly Pickens due to the potential for more targets after the trades. With Ja'Marr Chase injured, I'm also hoping for a little more from Hayden Hurst. But like others who have commented, I'm disapponted with Sutton the last 3 weeks after a respectable start the first 5 weeks.

Week 8 was a bloodbath! Of the 29 that were still eligible for one (or two) of Joe's $100 offers, we lost 14. Please bid a fond farewell to: @BassNBrew @BEGG Squad @cstruk @Grid71 @Hot Sauce Guy @IHEARTFF @IndyCasey @QuizGuy66 @rockaction @rustycolts @Saint @themeanmachine @TheWinz @TwinTurbo

Alright, that's enough crying. Time to congratulate the remaining 15 teams: @Ackme @ajm27501 @apalmer @bamabuddha @Dacomish @dbc925 @dzambo @menobrown @Monty Burns @Puppies @Ruffrodys05 @rzrback77 @scoobus @scottybo @ZWK

Special shout out to @apalmer and @Dacomish as the only 2 still in the running for both of Joe's $100 offers
And finally, I have to bring attention to @Ruffrodys05 because he/she posted his/her roster way back on 24 August. Honestly, I don't know if he/she even knows if they are in this little side contest of Joe's.

Good luck folks!
Continuing to lurk to not arouse the Turk's suspicion. Condolences to all the great contributors to fell victim this past week.

There is an error where Zamir White was not given the secret 50 point bonus for being best warmer of benches....

At some point I will post-mortem my rooster.

I think I found an error that will get me back in the contest. For some reason Carr was scored at .005 pts per yard instead of .05.

Obviously an error. 3.95 pts for any QB being paid by an NFL team isn't remotely possible.
My bad... I didn't realize you were joking when you posted that.🤣
I thought the joke was having Carr as his QB
Youch.....(he says as one of the disgruntled Carr qb owners)

Average Weekly Scores Heading into week 9

We were sad to lose some regulars this past week, and I have added a few "lurkers" to the tracking list.
While average scores are a nice conversation piece, they have no bearing on the contest unless your team continues to score past week 14.
Teams shown in bold still qualify for Joe Bryant's $100 derby.

Also the yellow......OMG my eyes are bleeding trying to read this on regular white mode.....lol! You can't win I think here, maybe just bold instead of color.

Continuing the Kicker Carousel:

Chargers coach Brandon Staley said Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) is week to week.

Hopkins battled through the hamstring injury to kick four field goals in the Chargers' Week 6, overtime win. After the game, Staley said he would miss 2-4 weeks. Coming out of the bye week, it looks like the Chargers will be without their primary kicker for Week 9. Taylor Bertolet, currently on their practice squad, will likely be called up for Sunday.

Maybe they need to pick up Blankenship, now that he's a FA again.

Squeaked by last week but I feel my luck will run out soon. I'm just very grateful to still be alive at this point:

This weeK: Bolded represents at least a chance to count this week.

QB: Cousins and Carr -

RB: Pierce, Mostert, J. WIlson, Zamir, Javonte, Dobbins

WR: St. Brown, Doubs, Lazard, Marvin Jones, Pickens, E. Moore, D. Parker, Chark, Cobb.

TE: Andrews, Goedert, Engram -

K: Zeurline, Hot Rod -

Def: Vikings, Panthers, Titans

Looking grim with only 9 RB/WR/TEs with a reasonable chance to matter. 7 of those 9 must score well and it's possible that Lazard and Andrews don't play so I could be looking at needing to count every healthy non horrible (looking at you E. Moore) player to count. No room for error at kicker either with only 1 on a roster.

Despite only having 1 player on bye (Pickens) and a 25 player roster, I'm still barely scraping bye. Next year I'm going to focus on picking players that won't get hurt and aren't horrible

Good luck everyone this week! I think the cut line will be in the 130's again due to the number of byes and number of injuries to significant players.

I also narrowly escaped the Turk last week (<5 points!!!) but that was arguably my scariest week for byes with my KC guys out, so here's hoping things are looking up!

Expected starters bolded, with an average putting me right at 140 this week. Hoping that Mattison vultures a TD or something so I don't have to rely on one of Davis, Renfrow, or Watkins showing up if my other two WRs fall flat. Maybe we can get another ridiculous game out of Mo Alie-Cox??

QB: Cousins, Goff

RB: Etienne, Hall, Sanders, Pierce, Mattison

WR: Sutton, Mooney, Renfrow, Smith-Schuster, Corey Davis, Watkins

TE: Kelce, Ertz, Alie-Cox

K: Zuerlein, Blankenship, Gano

DEF: WAS, CHI, SEA

I actually like this team a lot. With Alvin Kamara and DJ Moore on the upswing, you could be in pretty good shape.

Dallas Goedert is giving my contest team some love on Thursday night.... 28.00 so far!

Now if Dameon Pierce could just crack the end zone to go along with all those rushing yards, there will be some happy Puppies going into the Sunday games....

Good score from Goedert, and a nice flex score (hopefully) from Pierce. 5 from my only active kicker isn't optimal, but I suspect a lot of teams are going to have less than that this week. On the whole, I'll take it.

I don't know how I made it this far. I think there was one week where I made the cut by less than a point. I've got no TE this week, so this'll probably be it for me.

Entry 109580

These results are: extremely unofficial

This entry is still alive (as of the beginning of week 9)

Week 9

QB Kirk Cousins - $140.00
QB Derek Carr - $130.00
RB Nick Chubb - $240.00
RB A.J. Dillon - $200.00

CUT LINE13.90

My RBs have been slacking, so enjoyed the fast Thursday start. Pierce and Gainwell posted a nice >25 points. And Goedert was awesome!

Is Pierce and all the Eagles going to mean a cut line tonight?
Looks like Pierce IS the cut line. Nearly 700 entries have exactly the same number of points that he scored. He's on 75% of the teams still alive, so not having him immediately puts you in a hole in a week when 30% get cut.

There was a lot of discussion here earlier about the risk/reward of not having the "everyone has him" guy and this is where it shows. The 25% who don't have him can only be thankful Houston couldn't find a way to get him into the endzone.

I like the "most likely scorers" style of posts. Bold will be the likely position starters, italics my most likely FLEX pool. Strikethrough are out on bye/expected to sit/injured since before Week 1. :bag:

I must always rely on my QB platoon instead of an individual breakout. I really thought there to be a chance for a Baker Revival, alas. Davis Mills and Trevor Lawrence have been good for at least 13 every week, usually 20ish. Eat your heart out Derek Carr!
{Lawrence/Mills/Mayfield}

This will be the scariest week for me with my rock in the backfield on Bye. Nick Chubb will be missed this week, not a great time for CEH to be facing demotion. Hope he still grabs a few receiving points. Pierce made a good start to try and fill in the gaps last night, but that's looking like a RB score that I'd rather be using as a FLEX. Would be a wonderful week for the Brian Robinson circus to finally come to town.
Rhamondre Stevenson
Dameon Pierce

Clyde Edwards-Helaire
Brian Robinson
Nick Chubb

Time for my WRs and TEs to shine I hope in order to shore the rough edges of my lineup caused by Chubb's missing score. I brought a couple of big guns and a LOT of other hired hands to do the trick. This group is big play central, and I have benefitted from a rotating cast of producers. Keep it up!

Total scores by Week
Week 1: 154.90
Week 2: 156.45
Week 3: 150.70
Week 4: 216.60
Week 5: 175.65
Week 6: 147.95
Week 7: 175.60
Week 8: 151.30

When I built my team, I expected a lot of variance. Oddly enough, this particular spread of boom/bust players have kept a pretty steady floor, and it's looking rather consistent. Thankfully, the floor and ceiling are higher in practice than what I imagined. Hoping for more weeks like 4/5/7!

I was hoping to get a bit more out of Sanders and Pierce last night, though I guess Pierce doesn't matter that much since everyone has him, lol. Goedert had a really big game, I don't know how many people have him, But I expect he is pretty widely owned, so I hope my TEs can keep up with that.

516 Teams enjoyed Goedert's performance. 400 of those also had Pierce. Only 38 teams have the Sanders/Pierce combo.

My prospects (with FBG projections):

J. Allen (33), Trubisky/Pickett

Henry (16.3), Stevenson (15), Pierce (12.6), Benjamin (9), Chubb

ARSB (14), JuJu (13.3), Z. Jones (10.6), B. Edwards (0.6), Sutton, Pickens

Goedert (13.7), Hockenson (12.1), Schultz

Fairbairn (5.7), Gano, Blankenship

Minn (7.6), AZ (7.2)

FBG projection = 143.3; currently 14.9 ahead of projections. Cutting it thin with only Zay Jones and Eno available to cover anyone who falters. At least Fairbairn kept me from a 0.

I'm going to track my ghost entry for a while because I still like my team / roster construction this year... at least until I'm double-eliminated. Everyone's healthy, most of my big $$ guys are meeting/exceeding expecatations, etc.

Looking back on week 8 the two main pain points that led to narrowly getting the boot were (1) low flex score of 6.5 from Zay Jones... (2) low kicker score of the season with 5.0 points (both Bullock and Zuerlein, with the obligatory goose egg from Blankenship).

I could have dropped the dart throws at Moss or Watkins for a 4th kicker and probably been better off and survived. Neither of those guys panned out at all.

My biggest busts though were really the WR picks of A Robinson and H Renfrow, both of whom counted for my score 3 of 8 weeks, but not the kind of return you want for $20 and $15 respectively. WR is often a weak point for me in this contest... though I've gotten better at it over the years. Sun God was a good mid-range $$ pick (performance only hampered by unpredictable injury), and Palmer, Pickens, Zay all good value picks. I thought I had enough depth here to get by without a "stud" at the position... which would have been true if it not for Robinson and Renfrow's double-fizzle. I did consider gambling on Hopkins instead of Renfrow at one point near the end of roster construction... but of course hindsight is 20/20.

I really thought the presence of Adams would open things up for Renfrow and give him a reasonably high floor mirroring something close to last year's performance. Obviously thought similar things with Kupp (and Stafford) opening up big opportunities for Robinson's talent. Oh well.

All good points.
I was expecting Adams and Renfro to lift Carr. I didn’t roster either WR, but did roster Carr, thinking those guys would boost him.
