And really, maybe they don't know. They didn't draft this guy.Chadstroma said:I think it is fair to question it when McDaniels refused to put him in a position to this point. Maybe privately that have looked at the tape and decided. Publicly, they have not told us so we can't presume to know for sure.
That's one thing I am keeping in mind, that we see again and again. A new staff comes in, and all the players that the previous regime was trying to develop gets a fresh set of eyes on them. Guys like Ferrell, Abrams, Leatherwood, this coach and GM might not be as invested in their success as Gruden and Mayock.
It's waaaay early on Leatherwood, and if turns into a good RG, it was worth the pick. Kolton Miller was getting this same kind of treatment after his rookie year. They both committed the same sin, they went to the Raiders before mock drafts said they should. Kolton Miller: Better draft pick than Derwin James, and it's not close. Kind of crazy to think that, when you remember their rookie years.
That's not to absolve Gruyock of their terrible drafting. Moreso, I am thinking about Robert Gallery, a bad OT, who became a good OG. I could see that happening with Leatherwood, that would make him worth the pick. I just wonder if McDaniels is interested in taking on the project.
