2022 NBA Roster Draft - This draft goes to 12! (2 Viewers)

Love these last two picks. Both versatile defenders, great shooters and still have a lot of upside to develop into more. So much good, young talent in the NBA right now.

i winced when JMon - who i never imagined to take a PG after SGA - sniped me AGAIN w Tyrese. i traded this kid (thinking Sac ruins everybody and was doing it again w a logjam of guards) for Harden last fall and am already regretting it. that is one whammajamma new-age backcourt you got there, mon - too good for The King

but then i realized it left me the kid i never imagined to make it out of the Top 50. i hadda triple-check. can do it all, just needs a reason and i cant think of a better one than completing a frontcourt with Joker & Mobley

3.19 Brandon Ingram, SF, Nawlins

This was the guy I was talking about when I took JR.  Great pick, he's a stud.

Would you trade Tatum for Ingram?
If I get a lil something back.  Same with Haliburton.  I probably mentioned thar a few pages back when I said "Sac guy".  Tatum for Haliburton and their first would be great for Boston.

Well this is where the disaster starts I think.

3.20 D'Angelo Russell, Swing Guard, Twolves.  Can play off the ball and spot up for 3's off the Garland/Giannis pick and rolls, or run the point and let Garland roam.  Long and hopefully takes defensive inspiration from GIannis.

4.1 Cam Johnson, Swing Forward, Suns. Long, 3 and D forward.

@wikkidpissah

####. I had Cam slotted in.

Also I strongly considered Haliburton but whomever above said he and Bane are both good defenders, you're nuts.

Name is slightly above average (wonderful hooray) and Haliburton is mediocre at best. But a fantastic orchestrator. Like still a good pick and one I almost made but in no way is he a good defender.

Kings are beatong Bucks on the free NBA package right now actually.  2nd quarter, just tuned in.

I was wondering when players who aren’t even starters for their team would start going off the board, Cam in particular

I am sure I'm way outside where he should be taken, but the combo of length, defense, shooting ability, youth...he COULD be a perfect Giannis complement.  In my fantasy world he would be.

I like the pick. One of a couple I was contemplating for my next slot.

4.02 Malcolm Brogdon G Ind

Here's where having a player like Anteaternintendo or Jokic is great when draft-building a team. Brogdon is as skilled as at least half the players taken in the 3rd round and was a total gamer until the Pacers' position bingo wore him out. He's a guy who can do all the guard things but doesn't like one of them - bringing it up every time and starting the play. Now, he can dump down to Joker to start things off, set or run off screens and, if he gets the ball back, he'll already be clear enough of defenders to shoot, scan the floor & try a move, drive & dish with an advantage. Id normally have to take a pointier guard (and will take a lesser ballhog later) but now Joker frees Brog to always do the best thing, which is what he does best.

@JMon348

I haven't paid much attention to Cam Johnson.   I did not think he was a particularly good defensive player, but has he made some improvements recently?

Looking at how the picks have gone since I took Valunciunas at 3.05 ... now I'm wondering if he'd have made it back to me at 4.16?

Last two or three years Brogdon would have been gone by end of round 2. He looks like crap this year. Any insights?
i think it's mostly injury stuff.  he's been out for a while with an achilles thing.  this is usually his deal, but in this format without having to worry about that, he is a good pick.

He's lost his mojo. Some of that is that he's dinged up (which Frosty has indemnified all participants from), but most is because he's been playing two years on team where NObody is happy with their fit on the team. Sabonis dont want Turner in the way, Myles wants to be a supercenter, TJ wants to start, Malcolm dont wanna be ball-dominant and their acquisitions have either been hurt or are being utilized less than optimally as well. that leaves Brog bringing the ball up with a hangdog look on his face, only looking fwd to the next injury vaca.

4.3 Robert Williams

Elite off ball defense and playing his best on ball defense of his career (according to the numbers, articles, coaches, and teammates). Thinking back to that OT loss vs the Knicks a couple of weeks ago, he was unreal, completely negated everything inside, 7 blocks and probably changed another 7 shots.

On offense, he’s got three ball handlers with great vision to utilize his elite finishing at the rim.

F<uuuggge.

He's also got a very good mid range shot.  The few games he used it, he was like 7/7 and 8/10.  Dang.

this kid is special. i've never seen anyone command more cubic footage over the rim. alleyoops, blocks, tipping rebounds to life. i hope i wont offend by calling him an autistic savant of the game - beautiful court vision, hops upon hops, willing as can be. but he wouldnt last a season with LeBron - cant play more than 10 minutes at a stretch no matter how important, wont body anyone up and hasnt ever listened to anybody (blissfully, not angrily so, unlike most hoops oblivioids). he'd go on IR with a sprained eyelash every time The King "assumed" Rob should do what he wants. but just a pure pure talent unlike any ive seen in 60 yrs as a fan.

Great pick.  He was definitely a finalist for me....I ended up valuing a three point shooter (for my situation) more.

Goodness.  I love your writing so much, sincerely.

#### I really want to take a guy here but there's another guy who really needs to be picked and then another guy who would also be great.

Anyone desperately want to trade up. Yo mama??

I have read about that issue in past years.

Before drafting I read an article that came out a week or so ago with tons of quotes and stats backing up his recent play on defense has gone up a couple of notches in all areas.  That swayed me to take him over a couple of other options.

He definitely passes the eye test, I don’t watch a ton of Celtics games but that Knicks game, and also a recent Pacers game were jaw dropping.

Dont know how to quote a pm here so from instinctive:

”I'm in. I'm at a bar so like quote this and post it?
