2022 NBA Roster Draft - This draft goes to 12! (1 Viewer)

Man, where did all the good players go!?

I'll go with

Patrick Beverley - PG

Lavine can initiate most of the offense so I just need Bev to knock down open threes and be a ####### pest on defense.

I was pretty surprised this 3pt % has fallen so much below his career average this year. Not sure what is going on with his shot.

4.13 - Robert Covington (#33)

Veteran role player who will stay out of the way on offense and keep opponents honest by hitting his 3PT at a slightly above average clip. On defense, he gives me another switchable big who can guard 1-5, provide elite off-ball defense and surprisingly good rim protection for a guy who stands 6'7".

He'll probably get most of his minutes at the 4 but Covington is a Swiss Army knife who also has experience playing on the wing and as a small ball 5.

4.14 - Derrick White

Need a cromulent defensive guard next to Dame and White gives us that with some more size, speed and a little bit of creation ability to run some backup units as the PG.

@scoobus

4.15 Clint Capela

Need an elite lob-catching, rebounding, defensive center to anchor the middle. Able to guard the rim and switch onto guys, and led the league in rebounding last year.

We've already got a more-than-solid shooting and scoring base. Now it's time for a long, active dirty-work guy. He doesn't explicitly need the ball, frequently making his own chances through anticipation, hustle, and hops. He'll help Jonas V limit opponent's possessions to one shot while upping our squad's second- and third-chance attempts.

And he can credibly guard all five positions.

4.16: Jarred Vanderbilt, forward, Minnesota

I was planning on running a four out with my great shooters.  JRan can play the five, but is such a good shooter facing up I hate to pigeon hole him. I can now swing him between the four and five with this move.

This pick gives me more passing and an inside scorer, who also has the size to guard almost any big in the league.  This pick will give us hella space to operate, and move the ball quickly.  This guy has been on fire in January, going like 20-10-5ish, AND he has been rejuvenated all year while loading up on touches.

Gotta be (Center 4.17) Jusuf Nurkic here.

Well, I was going to follow the trend and grab a good defensive role player for my 2nd wing, but I can't just leave this guy out there:

4.18 SG Tyler Herro, MIA

We are going to score more points than you are.

PG - Luka Doncic

SG - Tyler Herro

SF - Anthony Edwards

PF

C - Myles Turner

That was why I took so long.  Was going back and forth between the two.  Kinda hoping he fell to my next.  I would have liked to have the shooting overkill, but there was nobody like Jusuf Nurkic left for me.  Great pick.

You are gonna have trouble if you get pressed looking at your team.  Luckily, NBA doesn't press much until the playoffs, right?

Bummer. Not many high usage players with at least decent efficiency left.

I love the optimism you have in Demar, Dejounte, and DeJulius as great shooters.

All three are great at scoring, as is Nurk.  Solid D, I can go a few ways next pick.

DD has two thirty point games in a row, and JRan is tuning up the clippers as we speak.  I think both are very happy to move to my winning organization.

So I'm honestly more excited about these two picks than I was my first 3 because they make this a very good team.  Stats are nice and all, but if it doesn't lead to wins you are missing the point.  My analysis had both of these guys as the last two ranked in my top 50. Here are the two guys to round out my starting 5 with Mitchell, PG13 & Siakam:

4.20 - PG Jalen Brunson, DAL - for those of you not paying attention, he has forced his way into a starting job in Dallas and is playing tremendous basketball as a complement to Doncic and getting Dallas up to the 5 seed in the West.  Their recent success coincides with his full time insertion into the starting role and he is a good player on both ends and will complement what Mitchell and George do on the outside very well.

5.01 - C Nikola Vucevic, CHI - another guy who is a key cog in his team's success, the Bulls are NOT a top team in the East without Vuc.  He is less heralded than his teammates who have already been drafted but does the things they need to win on the inside on a nightly basis with quality defense and rebounding.

Team Jayrod's starting five is set....now I sit back and watch for 38 picks to see what I can get to complement.

LOVE these picks.  Was hoping for Brunson, but doubted he would keep falling.  He is better than his dad also.
