2022 NBA Roster Draft - This draft goes to 12! (1 Viewer)

Was hoping that Jaylen Brown was going to get to me. That extra pop of athleticism over what Middleton brings would have been nice. But Middleton is a nice consolation prize. Great tough shot maker with really good size for his position and good team defender. Think he pairs really well with Curry and will benefit from the extra space that Curry's shooting provides to everyone else on three court.

Sorry for the delay. Looking at my board and what's left, think I have to look at getting a big wing to pair with Curry that can shoot, play defense and still create his own shot when needed. And getting another guy with championship experience is a nice plus too.

2.15 Khris Middleton SF MIL

Damn it. Pairing him with KD was gonna make me unstoppable.

Who is this guy an alias for?  Joined in 2003, but has 30 posts?
I'm a long time lurker, going back to the ol yeller days. Never posted much and then had a job for over 10 years that didn't leave me much time to peruse the board. Changed careers and have quite a bit more free time than I used too. Started reading the boards again and saw a chance to jump in the draft, so figured I'd give it a shot.

If you're an NBA fan make sure you check out the NBA discussion thread too. It's the worst thread on the board.

Welcome to the nuthouse.  Donuts and coffee are on the table in the corner.

Have a few different directions I could go here, but I'm going to take the local youngster Lamelo Ball. He's a true triple-double threat every night and has significantly improved his 3pt shot. He makes everyone around him better on offense and thought of him feeding Embiid is too good to pass up.

Oh thank god made this so much easier. I couldn't decide between him and my pick now at 2.17 Jarrett Allen, C who should have been playing alongside KD but isn't for dumb reasons.

At least I now I can't think i made the wrong choice. @JMon348 is on the clock, as it were.

Well their luxury tax bill would be like 700 million dollars if they tried to keep him.
though I guess they wouldn’t have harden, so maybe it would have worked out.

Dangit.  Legit All-star this year and difference maker on BOTH ends of the floor (super high efficient offense and screener with elite defensive ability).

That is literally who I would have predicted
Was easier to make it with Middleton off the board. May as well have fun with the homer pick and thought it was important to pair Embiid with another offensive threat that can get him the ball.

Love the fit with LeBron, can play off or on ball, think it’s a nice match.  He’s fun to watch and even better to follow knowing the Thunder fleeced the Clips for him.

@wikkidpissah

Can I give a 3-man list to someone to send my pick in for me?  Someone who won't pick for a while would be best.  I have to go ref some HS basketball and won't be available for 3 hours.

This is the primary person that I was debating drafting versus Bradley Beal.   I love the value here

I'll be around for the next few hours

2.19 Evan Mobley, Big, Cle

THIS is the reason the Cavs passed their Vegas over/under for wins already. Told y'all he was closer to AD than Wiseman, but people kept pimping the chukkers in this rookie class. Mobes is why they can win with one guard and nine bigs - he's the one who sees what aint being done and does it. Jams, layups, deuces, or treys, you get open you win games, so gimme guys who make sure we're open and they arent. Joker wont ever have to look up from his work if i can get a guy to sink shots to go w this kid.

Big, big fan. I feel like he's hit the absolute ceiling on what you could've expected in his rookie year, can't wait to see how his career unfolds.

2.20 Darius Garland, Lead Guard, Cavs

Speaking of Cleveland's one guard...and a Cavs run.  I'm sure some will see this as a reach, and I'm kind of afraid it is cause I know nothing.  But a lot of the nerds have him up there with Jrue and Dejounte.  I just see a very good scorer and passer who I think will do nothing but become more and more dynamic as we approach the playoffs.

I think it would be hard to totally trust garland for this this year, but he has totally elevated his game to a new level and what he can do is immensely valuable

he shonuff knew what to do once Sexton stopped gumming up the works

There goes all my Cavs. Was desperately hoping that everyone was sleeping on Mobley and I could pair him with Steph in the third. He's already an elite defender with excellent bball IQ. Just always in the right position and never fouls, which is unheard of for a young big man. Still working on putting together the whole package on offense, but once he does, watch out.

And Garland has made a massive leap in his third year. Complete control of the offense. Excellent shooting paired with fantastic passing ability. A little undersized, so always going to need some help defensively. But the pairing with Mobley will maximize his potential and hide his weaknesses.

;)

GArland and Mobley are definitely an intriguing pair.  If Mobley can get stronger and really play the 5, they could be so dangerous.  I know they have Allen there, but the ideal closing lineup would probably have Mobley at the 5
