2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (4 Viewers)

I was not aware he was protected, so I appreciate the check here. With that said, my overall take remains the same: Jerry doesn't invest much/at all in the backup QB position and I do not expect them to win many games with Cooper Rush as their starter. Nice win against the Bengals though for sure, the defense definitely isn't quitting yet.
Eh, the Bengals are struggling for sure.
But I think they will beat the Giants and Wash then lose to the Rams.
Then smoke Philly then Dak might be back

😉

Cowboys demise a bit premature.
Have you heard about Micah Parsons though? That is ALL we are going to hear from them all year. They like to switch up their periodic mottos from "Anyone can run behind this line" to "Dak is better than Wentz" to "Yeah but cutting Amari saved us $20M we needed" now its "The team might suck, but Micah Parsons is THE BEST defensive player in the NFL"

Just bc Bengals suck this year (Super Bowl loss hangover story seems to have not been spoken of for Mr. Burrow at all, strange, but OK) doesn't mean the Cowboys do not haha. We are in a QB-driven league where teams are ALWAYS mining for talent at that position b/c its so important. And also, the Cowboys actually cut this guy, without fear on the final 53 roster, of him being scooped up by a single team, so they could sign him off the practice squad for cheap. This ain't Cooper Foles at QB...
You know that NFL teams can protect players on the practice squad, right?

He still had to be cut and subject to waivers to get to the PS to begin with, where 31 other teams didn't think he was worth grabbing.
Yeah, I thought of that after I posted

:lmao: So great.

Look, Wentz has proven that he's not nearly as good as his people thought he would be back in the 2016/2017 years. Aside from him not living up to his potential on the field, it's already been shown with two different teams that he's horrible as a leader and bringing a team together. Go read all the positive comments about Matt Ryan from current Indy players who were there with Wentz. They say it's a night and day difference.

I wouldn't look into that too much. His religion rubs people the wrong way and guys use that as not liking guys etc. A lot of that is from anonymous teammates/sources. I knew one of the coaches who was there from day 1 with him and called a lot of it over saturated complete ******** on some of the stuff written by the guy. I also know Jason Kelce's Father in law who called out the reports to me. So I think I'll take the opinion on that one over guys who have been in the locker room over guys reporting stuff not there every day using anonymous source.

One beat writer who I'm friends with even told me the reports weren't even as bad as it was made to be.

Good lord I think Hurts's floor is a top 10 QB (and I'm not talking fantasy). I know it's early in the season but with these weapons, he's undoubtedly going to take the next step forward.

Assuming Gannon's gonna Gannon, I don't know how anyone thinks they have much of a chance unless they win in a shootout. Cousins is just good enough to pick apart this weak, gutless scheme. I have more faith in Hurts keeping pace at this point than I do in the defense slowing any semi-competent QB down. Hope he can prove me wrong, but we haven't seen it yet.
Never been happier to be wrong. Hope he learns from this and stays as aggressive the rest of the season.

Yeah not many saw this coming. I was afraid the script would be flipped. Vikings are a good team and this was a big test for the Eagles. Now I just hope they don't come out flat against Washington on a short week.

Wentz is probably wetting himself already after watching these blitzes light up Cousins.

I’m in a survivor pool with only 4 teams left and I think I should take the Eagles. Wentz against this D could get ugly.

DJax.....no more hatin on Hurts. Kid was fantastic tonight. Seasons still young but he's shown massive improvement from last year.

Team got a hair too conservative in the second half on offense I thought, but defense was superb. Slay an easy call for NFC DPOW.

So impressed by the play on both sides of the ball tonight!

He's been in the game thread literally hating him. DJax hates Hurts because he blames Hurts for Wentz leaving.

That's a shame. I was slow to warm on Jalen, but was certainly willing to give him a chance this year (he earned that much), and he has NOT disappointed. Still has some fine things to work on, but his accuracy is MUCH better, and decision making as a whole is better too. Absolute stud tonight

84% completion percentage, 333 yards passing and TD. Not including his rushing stats. As they said on the post game show, who are you going to draft to come in and do better next year?

Assuming the Minny D was supposed to be decent - they did shut down the Packers last week - Hurts did a tremendous job reading their D and exploiting it almost at will. Early on in the season but gaining confidence in what could be!

It was a great game. But for sure, we're going to want to see his performance the whole year. We're not deciding on his future now.
For sure. But he played well last week against an improved Lions team and built on it again this week against a better(?) Vikings team. But yeah, we need to see this all year (and stay healthy).

The best part of the game had to be the Reagor booing. What did he expect though saying he wanted a revenge game.

He can't be too happy walking out of our stadium tonight.

I think that was an annonmly last week. GB got rid of their #1 WR. GB didn't look in sync. Do I think Minny is a terrible team? No I think they are a .5OO type team at best in a cross roads. Paying a QB who's literal record is .5OO QB in his career paying him an absurd amount of money. Minny was the cinderella of '17 but no one should've expected them being that good again. Clock Struck Midnight against them in Philly in the NFCCG.

My issue is we aren't having a game like that every week. My biggest worry was Minny played a soft non aggressive defense most of the night. If I was the GM I'd want answers from my DC for not playing with Balls tonight. It was like watching a big 12 defense or lack there of. We didn't face any pressure all night, receivers had like 1O yards of cushion pre snap and were wide open all night. I wasn't a fan of the 1 throw to Brown by Hurts late in the first half. Both DB's looked lazy on the lay and felt Hurts could've thrown it with some more mustard and I'm not talking 1OOOMPH either just a little more zip. Thats a pass with a more aggressive defense gets picked off and headed the other way on a house call with a more aggressive defense. He missed another 2nd play of the game even Aikman was wondering why he didn't throw to Smith. I didn't see a whole lot of bad with Hurts tonight but the offense not scoring in the 2nd half is worrying.

Now some of tonight was on Sirianni's offensive play calling which schemes guys open. And Jalen took advantage of what the defense gave him which is what you want from a QB and not force things.. It was a good performance but lets cool the breaks a little here. Minny looked disinterested all game besides Harrison Smith being out there. Eagles didn't face much in pressure.. The offensive line pretty much bullied every guy they touched with a purple hat on out there. Minny also didn't do anything to make the Philly offense Job tougher either. Gannon was running disguised blitzes, schemes, odd man fronts etc all game on Cousins.

We took advantage but I want to see more aggression in a game like this in the 2nd half. I want a Bills the score statement win style. They play a much more aggressive D next week. My next biggest concern is can Hurts put performances like that up consistently? I'd like to see more passing TDs then running TDs from my QB though. I'm really not asking a whole lot here just consistency. Sorry if I'm not the guy who's going to blow roses and sunshine up people's asses after a win. I'm not a homer. I'm going to be critical where it should be and praise where it should go.

Our players who are suppose to be top players stood out. Sirianni and Gannon both called great game plans. I'd also like to thank Kirk Cousins for his participation in this Eagles win. He's gonna be seeing Slay in his nightmares who easily could've had 4 picks tonight. Overall it was a solid win but we're only week 2 in the season. I want to see how Hurts does for the rest of the season if he can consistently do this especially against some of the to teams we'll be facing. I think ARZ is a bigger test then some think. He was awful the first time he played ARZ and they play a zone scheme that has given Hurts fits since College.

Overall in the NFL this was just a weird week.

Eagles took the Vikings lunch money again
It will never be as great as the playoff pounding on the way to the Super Bowl but it’s always fun.

Especially considering how a lot of their fans acted prior to the game. All anyone talked about was how we treated them entering the stadium for that game. They were bad the entire week or so they were here. Obnoxious, rude, causing fights in numerious local bars that never had issues, the Rocky statue thing. Then inside the stadium most of the fights were Vikings fans from what I heard. I remember one story they were reporting about Eagles fans spitting on a Vikings fan. Had friends in that section who said female vikings fan was talking a lot of trash and spit on people got way out of hand got escorted out. Someone asked boyfriend she was with if he was going to bail her out etc. Dude calmly says "No I apologize for her behavior I waited too long to watch the Vikings in this she can sit whatever cell they have till the game is over." Most of the night he was very apologetic apparently.

Vikings fans also attacked NO fans in the concourse at their home playoff game and even beat up on a little girl. She wasn't the target but the adults she was with were and she got steamrolled. The security the Vikings had didn't do a dam thing about it. It was other fans who broke it up. I never had any ill will towards Viking fans till that week. Rooted for them when Randall was there and they got to the NFCC Title game Gary Anderson missed the game winner vs the Falcons. Now I hope they rot in football purgatory with Dal.

Nope I don't like Hurts because I think numerious Hurts fans overrate the guy routinely. Also I think people just pile on to root for Hurts in spite of Wentz not realizing everything that went on. Its like the people who just pile on to hate certain bands because the popular kids don't like them. And the sports media here is no better fueling that. Every day I see some Philly site bringing up Carson again? Why he's gone? Lets worry about our guys now. Fortunately for me I've been able to talk to at least 2 people one who was on the coaching staff and Kelce's FIL who have shared numerious stories or called out stories from the media. I also know one of the media beat writers who lives in my area who didn't partake in the click baiting headlines numerious others did. I used all that info plus my other contacts and formed an opinion. I feel he's getting the Ben Simmons hatred when really he shouldn't be. Carson didn't fake mental illness nor refused to play. Fans and media take their hatred for guys too personal.

I think Carson just gets a lot of unnecessary hate. It's too the point people won't even credit him for being a part of the SB team and forget how he put a trash can receiving corps on his back threw for over 4K and 35TDS and got to the playoffs in '19.

I like Hurts as a Person. I've just seen a lot of QBs like Hurts before. All the same. One read QBs decent athletic mobility, give you a game like tonight every few games creating false hope. Playoffs come and they can't produce. Do I hope he proves me wrong? Sure but I don't think he's a guy who can be relied on to win comeback games. He does have all the pieces to succeed around him though this year so if he fails its on him and no one else. In fact Wentz at least had some legit excuses from Doug's play calling to lack of weapons. Hurts has non of those excuses. The org learned from their mistakes from the Carson stuff and put pieces around Hurts to succeed. like I said if he fails at this point its on him.

Hurts has played well for sure but I want to see how he plays when trailing by double digit points and when playing against a good defense. Right now he is definitely improved from last year but it's very early and he hasn't been tested much.

Loved how they got devonta involved. We have a really hard offense to stop. Defense was better this game as well. Sky is the limit.

he was converting like every 3rd down. only thing that stopped us was stupid penalties. the refs seemed like they were half baked last night though

What a fun, great game to watch and end the week on. Hurts is the man. Slay is the man. Gannon did what we wanted him to do. The Eagles are a good football team. In a not-so-great conference. Dancing all week.

lol, you are not remotely consistent with your Hurt hate and Wentz love. Maybe you don't admit it, but it's pretty obvious to everyone else.

Through 2 games, the Eagles are 17/30 converting 3rd downs - 56.7%.

I'd love to hear Sirianni address the ineligible player downfield calls. I couldn't tell if it was bad play design, mistakes by the linemen or the refs calling something stricter than normal.

Yea for sure. Defenses will adjust, and its just week two.
Of course most QB's if trailing by double digits and facing a good defense are going to struggle.

At the end of the day, Carson signed a contract extension, received MILLIONS of dollars, then threw a baby hissy fit and refused to eve serve a single year of that extension. He deserves the hate because he lacks integrity and character.

Impressive win. I actually like Hurts the player and respect his

To be fair somebody having a different opinion on a player isn’t necessarily hate. People use that word way too liberally.

The concerns that DJax has expressed don’t mean he hates him or he can’t see that hurts had a good game last night. However, it was one game against some pretty soft zones. He threw ONE touchdown.

I think where most people underestimate Hurts, myself included, is his resiliency and willingness to get better. He proved it in college and so far through two games he has proved that he put in the work in the off-season.
