2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (3 Viewers)

It's nice not having any losses but this team needs to go through some adversity in terms of in game stuff. Overall we haven't really been challenged at all. We have a talented roster but my worry is are we just talented enough that we are beating the teams we should do to a softer schedule or are we really for real? I got a feeling special teams come back and bite us at some point. We've been super fortunate on the injury front where so many of the big teams haven't and lost key players or just have an aging roster AKA TB.

We have a few things on our side that usually help. Cohesiveness and no one seems to think they are above the team. I think having Sirianni as a young Coach helps and he can relate to these guys better then anyone. Chauncey Gardner Johnson talked about this aspect on his post interview on CBS on Sunday. They got a very talented defense who has 2 of the best playmakers at either side, one of the top 5 IMHO slot Corners in Avanto Maddox and a starting playmaking Top S in CJGJ. The Defensive front is staked and losing Jordan Davis for the time is gonna suck. I don't think we've played anyone great QB wise this year but the potential for this defense is there to be elite. Special teams has been less then stellar and I don't think this teams really values the return specialist that much.

Offensively we got a top 5 TE and maybe 2 of the best WR combos of X/Y I'd put up against anyone else in the league. AJ Brown is a man amongst boys out there. They have an elite Offensive Line with a ton of depth with at least 3 back ups who could start on any other team in this league and a coach coaching em up everyone else is jealous we have. Our run game has been. Good. Our QB. He's done some good things but I want better. There was quite a few throws he was late on early in the game and the decision on the deep Middle of the field TD to Brown was a good decision but it was a lame duck the defenders should've batted down or deflected. Hurts has shown improvement in a few areas but I still think he lacks in other areas he needs to be good at. Sirianni has done well playing to the strengths of everyone in the offense. He isn't forcing square pegs in round holes here but putting guys in position to succeed. This not only is great for the players on the team but anyone recruited offensively in FA or comes here via draft, trade etc. When you see theres coaches putting guys in position to succeed players love that. Sirianni is also incredible personable with all his guys which bodes well for the coach player dynamic.

My fear is offensively we haven't been challenged and we still at times stutter on offense. I've said before come playoff time defenses scheme to stop the best aspect of a team on offense. Baltimore Lamar Jackson and the team is DOA to the game. We saw last year what happened when TB schemed to stop the run. I'm curious when we get to the post season if we've improved into a better overall team where if our strength isn't there can we still win other ways.

I don't think this is SB or bust either. I want at least a playoff win however like they say no one gives a dam about a record like ours if we don't win the SB either. Taking this from what we Union supporters have said all season even though I think our expectations were much different from the Eagles. No one is gonna remember us for putting up a TD on a bunch of teams on the pitch this year or the fact we broke the Goal differential for a regular season in MLS or the fact we were the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference and got to MLS Cup if we don't win it. Point is we really weren't expected to be title contenders in the NFL this year but no one is gonna give a rats *** about "what we did this year" if we are 1 and done in the playoffs. Fans and critics will say what they've done all year, took advantage of weak schedule, didn't play anyone great, Hurts is a fraud. Hurts is another Lamar Jackson, Eagles won't do good next year, Eagles peaked too early, etc. Then you'll have the hoagie breathers on the sports talk calling for Howie and Nicks heads. Ok maybe I lied there because they'd probably blame Jonathan Gannon before anyone else since he's the flavor of the day for blame since most of these clowns love Old Dinosaur Seth Joyner.

Point is this season won't mean a dam if we get dumped in the playoffs first game we play. Lets at least get to the playoffs though and go from there but not winning at least 1 playoff game will be unacceptable this year still I believe. Our success overall hasn't changed my expectations for this team yet in the slightest. Years ago younger Djax would've said "oh we're the team to beat SB or bust" in a Jimmy Rollins type way but I set myself up for disappointment and didn't understand the game like I do now.

Teams scheme to take away your best weapons every week. Hurts passed for 285 & 4 TDs in 3.5 quarters with only 10 yds rushing this week. The Eagles have beaten teams both through the air and on the ground this year.

Hurts has passing games with 333/1, 340/3, and 285/4 and rushing games with 90/1, 57/2, 61/2, 38/2. He's won both ways.

Wait we watched the same game right? Hurts ran twice for 10 yards. We didn't have a RB with even double digit carries. Not sure where the Lamar Jackson/"omg what if they stop the run" comes from after the Pitt game....

Man, you'll never be happy. Who do you think are the top teams in the NFC. Did Philly beat any of those teams?

Not the same in the playoffs. They do scheme but they go against the grain a lot more in the playoffs and take away a teams best weapon. Its why Lamar has so much trouble in the post season. Granted I would say Hurts is a more of an advanced passer but thats not saying much with Lamar Jackson. We saw last year in the playoffs how one dimensional our offense was when they took away the run. We really haven't had a game where either of our Pass or run was really not working yet.

I really don't think anyone is great in NFC. I think whoever gets to the SB from this conference is getting smoked by Buff/KC in a SB. I think we're a good team but I think we're just a good team in a very weak conference still. I think SEA or SF defensively could give a us a fight and wouldn't be surprised if we played either we lose. We don't have a great history of matching up with SEA no matter the case. And despite Jimmy G at QB SF has some really great weapons Offensively and added CMC. I think SF gets healthier on Defense and could be a huge problem come playoffs. Unlike us SF has had key injuries to some great players.

Going to the game on Thursday. Should be more Eagles fans than Texans fans based on the teams records and the WS being on. If the Eagles blow out the Texans and the Phillies win game 5 of the World Series to win the Championship, it will be a nightmare scenario for Texans fans at the game.

Way to peak early boys!

:stirspot:
Peak or just not tested?
Well if anyone knows about peaking early and crapping the bed in the playoffs, it would be Cowboys fans.

True but COWBOYS.

Agree with everything but if you can stop Josh Allen from running they’re toast. Unfortunately he’s 6-5, 230 and runs like the wind.

Hard to read past here, because it's not really true. Detroit gave them hell, and Didn't Jags go up 14-0? Eagles have had a couple blowouts, but not every team has laid down early.

And for some reason no one seems to give the Eagles credit for beating the Vikings, who still only have 1 loss.

Still haven't beaten any good teams. 😉

That’s pretty sad
I totally expect the City of Houston to be burnt the ground by Eagles fans if the Phillies close out the World Series tomorrow. And a whole lot of booing of any early Santa decorations out.

I'd be disappointed in anything less.

Huh. I assumed it would be Philly fans burning Philly down if they win.

Quinn was an excellent acquisition as an Edge rusher, think about when they have a lead, he's the frosting on top of the cake
Great move, you all are undefeated, don't want to hear about anything forfeited getting him.
It's about the NFCC/Super Bowl, racking sack totals is hard and playing with a lead is going to enhance Quinn

-Under the radar, excellent move Philly

Isn't Minnesota 6-1 and the team to beat in the Playoffs?
If we could see what Philly could do against a real Playoff team, right?
Who did the Vikings lose to because they only have 1 loss and people are talking them up, whoever beat them big feather in their cap.
You are the Philly equivalent to MoP in the Miami threads, I find everything wrong with the team and print it, use historical stories from yesteryear teams in the 70s, 80s, 90s, it's fun.
We're good at it, takes one to know one.
But I still find myself getting caught up in Super Bowl talk and we haven't even won a single Playoff game with Tua under Center
Let's give both Philly and Miami some credit for making 2022 a year where we are even discussing all of this, it's OK to allow ourselves a chance to just enjoy this feeling.
I want to say I understand where you are coming from but you got a Lombardi in 2016 and 6 years later after a slide back to the pack, here you all are 7-0, undefeated.

Cheers!

2017 but yes.

So what do you take away, the Eagles running game or their passing game?

take away the run game blitz Hurts Constantly bringing extra guys make him a pocket passer and take away the first read. Hurts struggles when he doesn't get his first read. It's been the book on him since day 1 of college and worked well in college. You also Zone blitz him which is what he's had issues with and what happened in his first game in ARZ rookie year and last year 2 games vs TB.. Hope your guys are discipline enough to keep contain. Rather have a QB more known for his running ability try and beat me with his arm then his legs. Essentially it's what teams have done with Lamar in the playoffs. Take away his run game and force him into being pocket passes. A few games in one season for Hurts doesn't change the narrative yet. Need consecutive seasons from him passing well consistently in the pocket progressing through all his reads. Play the Eagles Wideouts up at the line bump and run and leave the safety back. Cover the sidelines and force Hurts to throw in the middle of the field which he doesn't do much of.

Offensively you play ball control unless your team has a QB who can win through the air. Try and force the Eagles into a shootout because I don't think Hurts is a consistent enough passer yet to even keep up in one if they had to abandon the run.

It's nice not having any losses but this team needs to go through some adversity in terms of in game stuff. Overall we haven't really been challenged at all.
Hard to read past here, because it's not really true. Detroit gave them hell, and Didn't Jags go up 14-0? Eagles have had a couple blowouts, but not every team has laid down early.

Not saying they've laid down Early. It's more or less those teams just didn't have a lot of fire power to get the job done. DET is still rebuilding. Jaksonville's numbers are inflated a bit defensively since they've played some bad teams offensively

Because a lot of people think Minny is a fraudulent 1 loss team.

Don't think you have to worry about that now. I'm actually glad we can't clinch tomorrow for personal reasons. I got a big shot coming to my work and they can't be a normal human being coming at a decent time. She'd decided to come in at 7AM on Friday. Also I think it'd be great anyway clinching in HOU and watching the HOUSTAN fans cry. SHould've seen some of the conspiracy comments after the postponement on Monday.

Also pretty cool but Justin Verlander's brother Ben who does Flippin' Bats pod is giving the Philly fans a ton of Credit. Also Justin defended Philly fans to an Astros blog clown too. Wish we had gotten Justin because he'd have become a legend in Philly. Another player who truly gets it. Plus who doesn't want to see Kate Upton at Phillies games?

Hurts has passing games with 333/1, 340/3, and 285/4 and rushing games with 90/1, 57/2, 61/2, 38/2. He's won both ways.

Wait, is it a ball control offense that beats them? Or a shootout? Those are very different things.

Way to peak early boys!

:stirspot:
Peak or just not tested?
Well if anyone knows about peaking early and crapping the bed in the playoffs, it would be Cowboys fans.

True but COWBOYS.

Man, you'll never be happy. Who do you think are the top teams in the NFC. Did Philly beat any of those teams?

Agree with everything but if you can stop Josh Allen from running they’re toast. Unfortunately he’s 6-5, 230 and runs like the wind.

Trying to stop Allen is like trying to stop Big Ben in his glory days and prime. Good luck trying to do that. He's like a Mike Alstott who can throw the ball really good. Also we aren't a good tackling defense which I think most here would agree with

Happy we didn't do anything crazy. We got a good enough squad to make noise

Not sure why anyone thought we'd do anything more then we did. Only 6 Picks now in the draft this coming draft. Got a feeling we trade back with one of the first rounders. Would like to keep the NO pick depending where it is and I wouldn't trade it unless someone is giving me a Kings ransom and 1st in 24" is included. If not trade our own pick since it will probably be at the end of the 1st round anyway. Get an extra 2 if you can and a 3 as well as some later picks which Howie has been doing damage with.

Really sucks we never got Ridley and I'm glad AtL was honest with us. Risk for Miami but Id rather risk Ridley then on Watson. Don't get me wrong I love having AJ Brown but Ridley was one of my guys since College and always envisioned a scenario of him as an Eagle one day similar to how I did with Pedro Martinez and Jim Thome as Phillies.

Like I said last week though Eagles don't do crazy mid season. They upgrade where they can Wish we could've found a power back. Would've seen what Buff wanted for Zack Moss. Robinson for a 6th would've been a no brainer too. I think they believe Tyree Jackson is coming back and should insert as the #2 TE when he is activated though. Safety depth behind CJGJ and Epps would've been nice too. Berger's can't be choosers though I guess.

Shocked by some of the moves in more so how many happened that were big. Felt like old school MLB NBA trade deadline years ago.

Cheers!

Not saying I haven't enjoyed it I'm just not getting suckered into the Jalen Hurts we're great hype. Been there before with QBs. I've watched Hurts since his Freshman year and he's done this before. Looked great for a big chunk of time then when you thought he had it he throws a bunch of clunkers up or chokes in the big moment.

Eagles are the only team to beat MINN but Minn has had a very soft schedule facing a bad NFC North, A GB team not close to what they've been for yrs under Favre or even Rodgers and beat Your Dolphins and beat a very inconsistent Cardinals team who P2 just mocked their Qb for playing too many Video games after Picking him off.

I haven't watched enough Minny games but do know if we play Minny Again they probably get smoked. Vikings are known for choking in the big moments and this Vikings team remind me a bit of the team we faced in the NFCC in route to the SB.

Also I'm still in the just give me one playoff win and I'm fine this year nothing has changed. Eagles got into the trap of winning a SB and everyone thought we were fine but had so many holes still to fix we didn't and led us to where we were. after the fact.

Also I'd trade Hurts for Tua straight up right now if you were to offer it too me. I love that guys arm talent. Hurts is a great person and teammate so is Tua who's been slightly more snakebitten by the injury bug. However I'm taking that arm talent anyway. Was so impressive in college.

Tomorrow's Eagles game for those who don't have and Prime and at this rate I don't know why the hell you wouldn't unless you are tech illiterate or old is on WPHL17.

My friend, with all due respect
There is no "trap of winning a Super Bowl"
There is only Winning a Super Bowl and everything else that happens after is moot

Sincerely
-Miami Dolphins Fans

PS-Glad you like Tua, so many folks do. If you and I were the GMs then I guess we would be trading QBs

We get mentioned in this Philly write up

I mean besides the Bills and Chiefs...who exactly do the Eagles need to play to call them good? Besides the obvious fact they can only play their schedule... You called the Vikings frauds because Green Bay is bad, so us beating the Vikings doesn't count. I guess since Dak was out beating 6-2 Dallas doesn't count. This schtick is beyond ridiculous at this point. They've dominated teams to the point I don't think they have trailed in the 2nd half yet this season, as people use that as a negative? We think it would be 'better' if they had given up leads?

Also, have had at least a 14 point lead in every single game and have also *won* the turnover battle every single game. Not a single game where it was 1-1 or 0-0, the Eagles are a minimum of +1 turnover in every single game this season. But thats only b/c they have played the weakest schedule imaginable littered with fraud teams LOL

Chiefs lost to the Colts but no one says anything

I’ve never seen a fan base in my life that needs stroked by everyone on a daily basis telling them “OMG YOUR TEAM IS SOOOO GOOD”!

I very rarely agree with anything @DJackson10 posts, But I feel bad for the guy, most everything he’s posted about this years Eagles team makes sense from the outside looking in. And he gets railed for it by other Eagles fans.

 Gotta love it

You hate seasons where your team has the best record in football after 6 games? Tough crowd.
lol haven't you learned by now that he'd rather us lose than win with Jalen?

The worst team in our division would be at the top of the NFC South. Crazy times.
Brah, don't post in here that Carson would be better than the Colts. Djax Novel response would be next level.

We're getting steamrolled whoever we face plus I don't think it's really a guarantee we make the SB. I've seen this song and dance with QB's similar to Hurts from Lamar Jackson and others. Look great in regular season unstoppable but then playoffs come around and teams scheme to stop that one threat.
I honestly mainly want to win the SB just to hear if you're actually happy or not but I'm sure there will be "we'll see if he can win two"'

Prime on the big screen and WS on the laptop streaming on the fox sports site.
Will you be cheering for Houston in both sports or just football?

PS-Glad you like Tua,
Take that compliment with a grain of salt. He would legitimately prefer Gardner Minshew as our startng QB over Hurts.
And this guy calls other posters a troll
