2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (1 Viewer)

Eagles need to just keep playing at the level they are. Worrying about other teams will lead to playing down to their level. Next 2 teams are feisty opponents we should beat handily but I could see them being close games.
Agree here to a degree, but Gannon should be able to dismantle Kenny Picket and Davis Mills the next 2 weeks.
But why not just enjoy that your team is basically just a shoe in for the super bowl (barring major injuries)? Who
But why not just enjoy that your team is basically just a shoe in for the super bowl (barring major injuries)?
Oh wow
Who are the 3 teams that would be the toughest for Philly?
Niners who got dismantled yesterday?
Heard the Bucs and Tom Brady were good b/c they beat the Cowboys week 1
Packers LOL
Wiped up Vikings and Cowboys ourselves (trust that offense I saw yesterday did not scare anyone)

Not a crazy statement. LOL at "shoe-in" I guess, but 6-0 be 6-0, and when all the "good" teams are showing to not be, this is how we get here.
It’s a long season
Good point. But it's been a while since I've seen a conference this week. Usually there are a couple dominant teams at the top. Not the case in the NFC this year. But yes injuries and other **** happens.
The Old QB Guard is simply showing its age. Rodgers can't just make anyone good. Tom Brady, lot of things going on in his life. Prob should have stayed retired. Russ gone and suckin. Stafford and the Rams paid and bought their one SB, they don't scare anyone. Sure its a long season, but I mean, does anyone see this Bucs, Packers or Rams team all of a sudden "turning it one?" Each team seems to have some major flaws holding them back right now.

Last year the Rams were 7-4 through 11 games and the Bengals were 7-6 through 13.

Two years ago the Bucs were 7-5. In ‘19 KC was 6-4

All I’m saying is week 7 is a little early to be crowning asses
Fair point. I guess we will see who gets hot late. But we are in the opposite. We are already hot, not looking to turn it on, but *keep* it on. We shall see!

Eh, a month ago we weren't sure if the Phillies would make the playoffs as the last seed and the Mets & Yankees (and MLB) were dreaming of a subway series. Now the Phillies are 4 wins from the championship(!).

Things can change fast.

Way too much season left to be buying tickets to Arizona, but I am enjoying the ride.

And really looking forward to seeing this team play a complete game. When that starts happening, then I'll put them on the same tier as BUF and KCC.

Insane for anyone to look so far ahead. As of today, Eagles are the best team in the conference and odds on favorite to represent the NFC in the SB. In three weeks they could be a dumpster fire or look even better. Live for the day and enjoy the ride! Also, go Phillies!

We're going to lose to several teams. It's ok. But for sure Brady and Rodgers teams completely sucking is great news. Cowboys with Prescott are going to be tough to beat though.

While it's not 'eagles' news - Colts almost have to fire Reich after this season, right?
I think he knows it too. That's why he's making the QB switch. The last act of a desperate NFL coach is to go to the young QB and hope he gets hot. Then you can say it was you coaching them up despite the other QB sucking for the other games.

I hate seasons like this.I don't know if this Eagles team is really good legit wise or just really good because of a very down year from a lot of teams that should be really good. It makes it harder for people to evaluate and this is usually when people end up making very bad decisions that can cost teams for yrs. Hopefully Howie and Company keep their minds focused and don't fall into that category. This is where you find out if your football guys are good evaluators or not this type of year.

Same with NYG thought I don't think they are that great. Still numerious holes and they have a beaten a few teams they should have zero business even beating.

Just a very weird year.

You hate seasons where your team has the best record in football after 6 games? Tough crowd.

Nah I hate it from an evaluation stand point. Some people fans and media get caught up in certain players success or teams success when it was mostly because of down years by others. The Eagles fell into the trap of when they won the SB they didn't have to upgrade despite the fact we had major holes still.

lol haven't you learned by now that he'd rather us lose than win with Jalen?

The NFC is ridiculously weak this year. He’s right about that. But why not just enjoy that your team is basically just a shoe in for the super bowl (barring major injuries)? Who cares about the future?

We're getting steamrolled whoever we face plus I don't think it's really a guarantee we make the SB. I've seen this song and dance with QB's similar to Hurts from Lamar Jackson and others. Look great in regular season unstoppable but then playoffs come around and teams scheme to stop that one threat. I don't think it's a guarantee we even make the SB. Playoffs is a different beast then the regular season

IDGAF if this is the wrong forum, WE'RE GOING TO THE ****ING WORLD SERIES!!!!!!
Special thanks to the sports gods for scheduling the two World Series off days for the two days the Eagles (and Union) are playing next week:
Friday, Oct. 28: Game 1 @ HOU
Saturday, Oct. 29: Game 2 @ HOU
Sunday, Oct. 30 @ 1:00: Steelers @ Eagles
(Sunday, Oct. 30 @ 8:00: Union ECF vs NYCFC)
Monday, Oct. 31: Game 3 @ PHI
Tuesday, Nov. 1: Game 4 @ PHI
Wednesday, Nov. 2: Game 5 @ PHI (if necessary)
Thursday, Nov. 3: Eagles @ Texans
Friday, Nov. 4: Game 6 @ HOU (if necessary)
Saturday, Nov. 5: Game 7 @ HOU (if necessary)

Trip to Houston for Texans game and then WS game 6 probably a pipe dream but still in the back of my mind.

We better hope theres no Game 7 because if the Union win Sunday Nov 5 is the MLS Cup final at 4. If LAFC lose in the West Final we host the match

I think a few of these teams get going though. SF still has a good defense. If the Bucs get going that Defense has been kryptonite to Hurts btw. It just really depends on everyone else in the division and if anyone can get going

We've been incredible fortunate to not have any major injuries either. A lot of these other teams who are suppose to be good have lost some key people.

While it's not 'eagles' news - Colts almost have to fire Reich after this season, right?
He was getting fired anyway. He should've been fired after the team choked away the playoffs last year. That whole team just quit. Everyone from Isray to the media in Indy tried to blame it all on Wentz. Writing was on the wall. First desperation move is get rid of the QB. Next move is benching said replacement when things don't go good. Reich and Ballard will be fired by the end of the year. Nothing will Change until they have new ownership. When you have one of the best QBs in the last 2O years and win only 1 SB thats inexcusable as a franchise

I honestly mainly want to win the SB just to hear if you're actually happy or not but I'm sure there will be "we'll see if he can win two"'

He's already on record saying Hurts won't be worth the second-round pick unless he wins multiple Super Bowls and multiple MVPs. That says everything you need to know.

Saints only won one Super Bowl with Brees. Aaron Rodgers only won one. Winning it all is hard. Brady winning a bunch is the exception, not the rule.
And yea, Wentz choked last season, he couldnt even throw for 200 yards in the last game to make the playoffs. Commanders are probably gonna ditch him this offseason too. Reich bears a lot of blame as well...but so does Wentz. He didn't lead them to a TD that game till it was 26-3 with 4 minutes left in the game. You love to kill Hurts for garbage TD's...Wentz was BAD that game.

My only pushback would be to ask the question, who brought in these QB's? Did Reich ask for those guys or did the owner push them onto Reich?

Does it matter in the end? If the owner pushes them on you, is the owner not going to fire you because it's the owner's fault?

Certainly, but it’s something to consider when you’re judging the HC’s ability.

To your point, when I heard of the announcement to bench Matt Ryan my immediate thought was “this looks like he’s passing the blame onto the 3rd QB in a row”

If it’s always everyone else, it’s YOU!

The interesting thing though is it's not 'always'. He won 11 games with Philip Rivers (And a top 10 offense) .... they just were trying to catch that same formula with Matt Ryan/Wentz, and it hasnt panned out. They've legit never given him a good young QB.

Then again...that top 10 offense with Rivers...they lost their Offensive Coordinator after that year, so maybe Reich is just struggling without him.

Ballard and Reich wanted Wentz but Isray wanted nothing to do with Wentz which is why the trade was held up. Wentz from reliable people I know never stood a chance and Reich was undermined by Isray just so he could prove he was right for instance not signing off on Offensive line help and other depth. Wentz was a dead man walking into that building before he took a snap. He became an easy target after not being vaccinated and then easiest to blame when the whole team collapsed which was do to guys quitting and injuries with lack of depth. The one Colts beat guy who works for The Athletic seems to be in Isray's pocket as well from what I've heard from people and by comments by Indy fans about the guy. I can't remember his name but I think it's Zach Keefer. Ballard and Reich will be let go at the end of the season and watch this guy for the Athletic run a smear campaign and make Isray.a victim.

Based on what I've heard Isray thinks he's Jerry jones and trying to get too involved with making decisions the football people should. This is gonna be a very long road for Indy fans. Obviously Wentz had his issues but the Colts had a ton of pressing needs before you even got to Wentz. Riech also wasn't as aggressive with Wentz in play calling as he was when they were in philly. I think it was the SNF or MNF game against the Ravens they were up big and Lamar looked like he had zero Business on the field. Reich took the foot off the gas and once Indy lost two more DBs and literally had all back ups in there thats when Lamar looked somewhat like an NFL QB. But at the sometime Reich wasn't agressive in the 2nd half. I remember a couple of us in here talking about the game and saying Lamar didn't win the game like the media was portraying but Reich lost it for the colts.

There's just numerous factors here. I like Reich but I also think a lot of people in Philly Overrated how good he was because they didn't want to give Doug Pederson his deserved credit just to prove they and Mike Lombardia were right about Doug and the SB was just all luck.

Not quite as excited as some others here. Quinn a bit long in the tooth, and expensive.

As part of a rotation where he doesn’t have to play 70-80% of the snaps, I’m not as concerned about the age. I think the 4th is a fair price for a “won now” mode and not being on the hook for any guaranteed money beyond this season.

The ceiling is that he winds being a rich man’s Chris Long for this team.

And if it’s a 2024 4th rounder, when it’s likely we’ll be getting a comp pick or two after FA next year, would be the cherry on top.

Quinn hasn't been great, but I didn't realize no guaranteed after this year and Bears eating a ton of that salary. Maybe he needs a fresh start to rejuvenate him and being on a contender could do that for sure. Exciting stuff.

I've only seen that reported by Garafolo. Not sure how reliable that info is. Hope its true!

Bears fan checking in. Quinn has mostly sucked this year, he's basically useless against then run, and wasn't the pass rusher his sack totals say he was last year. I was hoping he'd fetch a 3 off name, but totally happy with a 4. I got a big bang of Allen Robinson off of him so far this year. I doubt he'll be missed, but he wouldn't be the first guy to be revitalized moving to a contender.

Worth a flier for Philly in my eyes, but I doubt its some amazing steal. I would bet he's the #4 DE on the team.
