2023-2024 NBA Salary Cap Draft - SECOND Annual Battle for the Wikkid Cup - Preseason Rankings are In! (3 Viewers)

@Yo Mama There's an error in the spreadsheet. Stanley Umude of the Pistons is listed at $1,801,769. His exhibit 10 contract was converted to a two-way on Oct 24th so he's ineligible.
He scored 15 against GSW tonight.
Good catch. He should not be on the list. Not sure why he was in my original download. I’ll mark him as ineligible.

13.14 Jordan Hawkins, SG, NOP $4,310,196
Lol. I was considering it about halfway through the Nuggets game. He looked soooo good in th second quarter.
With McCollum out, he is going to get starter minutes for a while and he was already playing over 25 mpg. He has gone 11/22 from 3 the last two games. He's really only a scorer right now but getting a guy that is playing that much and shooting that well this late in the draft is robbery.

13.16 Dwight Powell C
$4,000,000

His upside is lower than Jalen Smith or Zeke Nnaji who were my #1 and 2 picks for this spot, but he's is and has been a solid rotation center for the Mavs for nearly a decade and has started a majority of games that Doncic has played in the NBA so they have a solid relationship. While he can't play a big role and his counting stats are always a little unimpressive, his advanced stats have always been great (career .662 TS%, .186 WS/48, 17.7 PER, a positive BPM, and a consistent positive On-Off). He was drafted in 2014 and has more career win shares than everybody in his draft other than Jokic, Embiid, and Capela - that's more than many guys drafted HERE above him like Julius Randle, Aaron Gordon, Marcus Smart, Andrew Wiggins, and Jerami Grant. With Wendell Carter Jr out for a month or so, Powell is going to get a lot of playing time.

I think so.

That's a wrap, everybody!

Good morning nerds.

Mike Muscala - Big - Washington

$3.5M

I was planning to go with Powell here so I'm pivoting to Muscala as bigs are getting pretty scarce. Muscala brings more shooting and less of everything else. The risk is that his minutes go away as the Wizards embrace the tank.

@Yo Mama san

Spreading of Wizards tanking, Son of Yo Mama selects:

13.18 - Ryan Rollins, SG, Was
$1,719,864

Can score in bunches if/when he plays.

Having Mike Muscala play many minutes is a very good way to embrace a tank though

Fair point but they'll probably try to play their younger guys more to see what they have <checks roster> umm...maybe not.

The idea of Mike Muscala is better than Mike Muscala in reality.

I drafted the idea then.
I’m still just jaded from when the Lakers gave up assets for him thinking “hey, he’s a shooting big - just what we need”. And then he couldnt shoot and didn’t do things a big guy would.

Isn't it over anyway?

13.20 - Malaki Branham ($3,071,880). Was surprised to see that he was still available. One of the youngest players in last year's draft, so it might be too early to count on him as a positive player - but he should have ample opportunity to overperform this draft slot. Normally a 20 mpg guy for the Spurs but is currently starting due to Vassell's injury.

14.01 - Isaiah Jackson ($2,696,280). Bouncy athlete and super aggressive, often to a fault (5 fouls in 22 minutes yesterday). Also stuck as Indiana's 3rd center because Jalen Smith is a much better offensive fit. But check this out:

Blocks per 36 minutes, 22-23 season (min 15 mpg):
1. Jaren Jackson Jr (3.8)
2. Walker Kessler (3.7)
3. Isaiah Jackson (3.2) :bowtie:
4. Nic Claxton (3.0)
5. Brook Lopez (2.9)

Son of @PIK95 is back up!

I almost took Jackson for my son this last round, but it would have left him in the same salary position you’re in - praying that one of the ten super cheap players left makes it back through the juggernaut.

Also, I had Jackson on my team last year. He’d play a game and get 4 blocks and a bunch of rebounds, then get a few DNP-CDs in a row right afterwards.

Son of Yo Mama selects:

14.03 - Orlando Robinson - PF/C, Mia
$1,801,769

Good news: he had a nice game this year. Bad news: it was the only game he played in so far.

@Eephus

14.04 - Ochai Agbaji - Wing - Jazz

$4,114,200

I had Agbaji and Branham ranked together but Christian Braun put in a good word for his college buddy. The price difference doesn't matter to me at this point and I don't want to be that guy who left too much money on the table.

I was considering him next, but I have a LONG way to go I think.

I've been looking at Branham.

14.07 Christian Koloko, C, TOR $1,719,864

He's tall, and cheap, and currently hurt
Considered him instead of Jackson for my 3rd big role. But apparently his injury is a “respiratory issue” that’s kept him out since July, and the team refuses to provide details about it. Hope he gets better soon, very odd situation.
