2023 Cleveland Browns - 7-5, Jaguars Limping into Cleveland (7 Viewers)

That's my QB.

And the defense.... superb.
he was better today.

still lots to clean up.

Still plenty to clean up, yes. But was more than just "better" today, imo
yes, that ten yard backwards pass was magical.

his sole bad play of the day. next play ended up a 30-40yd penalty downfield, so it didnt cost us at all.

basically you just hate him no matter what - what MORE could you want out of yesterday? numbers were great. escaped countless insane pressures. was accurate. and we won.

not sure where you're getting that i "hate" Watson?

he had some really nice throws, but he still doesn't seem completely in sync with his receivers.

he's not going to get bailed out by constant dpi's all the time moving forwards.

and imo, he needs to make quicker decisions, and at times, he needs to just throw the ball away.

so yeah, he was better yesterday. still lots to clean up.

Best defense in the NFL
And it's not even close

But that's kinda his MO is it not? I think what you saw yesterday was pretty classic Watson. Don't disagree with you but I'm also thinking that's what you have to work with so make it work rather than trying to remake the player.

you're probably right, it just seems like he's constantly reacting instead of seeing it before it happens if that makes sense?

maybe i just need to get used to watching him play.

i do think his timing with his receivers will improve and he can start putting the ball on them in stride.

Clowney says no bad blood
----------------------------------------
Yeah, right.
Last year he quit on the team and said the Browns were more concerned about getting Myles Garrett into the Hall of Fame rather than winning.
Its revenge for him but it's also a game that Myles must have circled on his calendar, and I have to think the O-Line is motivated as well.
Doesn't really matter, the story of this game is that the D is finally facing a top-QB who is healthy and who can do damage with his legs and who has owned us.
Week 1, Joe Burrow was injured and played in poor weather.
Week 2, Pickett isn't a top QB and was rattled.
Week 3, Tannehill? Nah.
The big question is how the defense will perform this week going up against Lamar Jackson?
Don't expect the defense to dominate.

i'm sure Jackson will torch the Browns for a few big plays on some runs. he's like a cheat code out there at times.

overall, i'm sure we'll see another strong defensive performance, and i'd be surprised if the Ravens can score a lot of points.

let's say... Browns 24-13.

Our defense is good but credit Lamar, he played well.
Losing Chubb was a gut punch, not having Deshaun on-top of losing Chubb killed the offense.
DTR looked good in the first two preseason games. It was fun but then...
First reg flag to me came with DTR was in the 3rd preseason game. He wasn't impressive and it should be obvious to all that he's nowhere near ready to start an NFL game.
Once our D knew the offense couldn't generate any points you could see them get fatigued and essentially give up because we had no chance with a rookie 5th round pick with zero NFL experience.
I mean, come on. Take away the top-two playmakers on any NFL offense and make them start a rookie 5th round pick with no NFL experience and what is the expectation?

not to mention the Ravens seemed to solve the defense.

they better come up with a counter, because every team we play moving forward will watch what the Ravens did on offense yesterday and try to copy it.

Pretty confident they will overcome this, we have a good defense and Lamar pretty regularly wears us out no matter what.

I'm much more concerned with O-line play and the building controversy regarding our $230m man. The HC threw him under the bus in a big way yesterday.

yeah, wtf was that about? i just heard about it this morning on the radio.

why in the world would he say that?

only thing i could think of was that it was going to get out one way or the other and he wanted to get ahead of it?

also, my guess is that at some point during the week they gave him a cortisone shot in the shoulder and they were hoping it would kick in but it never did.

I don't see it that way, he basically just described what happened. If you think making public statements is "throwing under the bus" then so be it. The organization has 230 million reasons to hold him accountable.

From a Ravens fan's perspective, this is what shocked me the most in that game. Baltimore had more free runs at the QB or RB than I can count. Were most of the Browns starting OL hurt on Sunday?

Sure if you want to put the onus on your QB. He absolutely could have said something more diplomatic. My take, Stefanski thought up to Sunday morning, Watson was starting. Watson had said all week he was going to start and the gameplan was based around that and then he didn't. Coach got frustrated, got his *** kicked because he either didn't have time to change the game plan (BS IMO) or he thought DTR could handle it. Either way he was way wrong on all accounts and I think he wanted to deflect some to Watson.

Check out the second play on this short vid. Think they were having trouble with that switch most of the day. Won't pick on Jed because it's too easy but his effort doesn't help.

Andrew Berry presser this morning.

i've never understood the "X Player can play better. And he will play better." comment.

how does that even work? why weren't they playing better in the first place?

the one thing he did call out the team on is all the turnovers.

Watson practicing "inside the building."

nothing to see here or are they running with DTR on Sunday?
As a Brown's fan living close to Charlotte for the last 15 years, I'm getting Cam Newton vibes from this injury. I hope not but my Spidey Sense is tingling.

now they're saying PJ Walker would start if Watson can't go?

they'll have to drop someone from the roster or put Watson on IR.

WAT. Cleveland defense is 2nd in PA?

Denise and John York don't even have a travel day to watch the team they own in SF lol. They still live in Youngstown.

I'm sure Kev will devise a great game plan to protect him like he did last week for DTR...oh, wait...

We're so ****ed

yeah, that's PJ Walker's career best year.

should probably plan on throwing the ball about 50 times.
I heard that the weather is supposed to be bad this weekend, high winds.
I'm local and I have not seen anything in the weather reports about high wind. There may be a little rain, but nothing out of the ordinary.
i haven’t heard anything either, but if there is bad weather they’ll throw it every play trying to trick the other team.

PJ Walker got the start for Carolina vs. the 49ers on 10/9/22.

he went 5/6 with 60 yards, 0 TD and 0 INT for a 108.3 rating.

they lost 37-15.

Wait, what happened to DTR?
Nothing, other than he was flat out bad in his debut
correct, they have realized he's just not ready to start, and have decided that they don't want to ruin him by running him out there again.

also, people have to remember, they signed PJ Walker AFTER final cutdowns, so this gave him 2 additional weeks to learn the playbook.

DTR was the more logical choice in week 4 because he had been on the team all summer.

Should have not lost that Pittsburgh game. Season trending toward another wasted year if Watson can't come back soon. I would put chances of beating SF at less than 5% you just got crushed at home to Baltimore 28-3 and SF is a lot better team. Going to be a blood bath tomorrow. Should have kept Dobbs.

spread up to 6.5, does it continue to climb?

personally i'd put it closer to 10.
seeing 9.5 most places now.

i don't gamble, but it is amazing how often the spread is close to the result.
86% of games come within 1.5 points of the spread. Moose and Rocco know what they are doing.
Ummmm, I don't think so.
Just last week alone only like 3-4 games were within 1.5 points of the spread.
