2023 College football thread - Nick Saban is sad and mid because everyone can pay players now. (4 Viewers)

This is really bad defensive coaching on both sides. CSU just sitting back in a predictable cover 2 (that CU has figured out) without their best pass rusher to just be picked apart. CU continuing to leave CSU's only good WR in single coverage to just eat them up play after play. Neither defense adjusting at all.

He's horrible. And They're gonna get destroyed the next two weeks. Could barely win a game they were favoured by 26 points in, even with an insane disparity in penalties.
CSU played a great game and took out CU's best player with a cheap shot.

Colorado also beat the national runner up in their building week 1.

Shedeur is the real deal and I believe he is the current Heisman frontrunner.

Not sure if you follow much college ball, but TCU may be the national runner up, but they're not a great team this year.

Also, Shedeur is 7th in Heisman betting odds. He's a very long shot to win it... wait until after the Oregon and USC games.

Shedeur is a stud. If he has time he's unstoppable. I thought the game was poorly coached by both sides down the stretch, but CSU taking their foot off on the pressure and sitting back in a predictable cover 2 that CU had figured out was the worse offense of the two.

CSU also played way too conservatively down the stretch in general.

Fans rush the field after winning a game they were favoured by 25 points lol
Now that is stupid
They deserve some slack
You got to understand where these fans are coming from. From a 1-11 no question worst team in college football to today. They deserve a few rush the fields especially in a rival game where it looked like they were beat until the last minute.

Lol.

Your only basis for that opinion is they lost to Colorado.

And pretty sure Heisman odds hadn't been updated yet just an hour after the game was over. He may not be "#1 in betting odds" even yet, but he wasn't even on the list when the season started.

Keep drinking the hater-ade. Sanders and the Buffs are legit. Even if they lose the next 2 games, these last 3 weeks have been the greatest thing for Colorado and college football in general for decades.

No, they lost a ton of talent and no one thinks they're even close to as good as last year.

I'm not saying he's not playing great or making a name for himself, I'm saying calling him "the current Heisman frontrunner" is absolutely ridiculous. Again, it seems like you don't really follow college ball and that's totally okay and not a diss on you at all, but it's going to come crashing down soon. They're not a terrible team and they're not the greatest thing to happen to America in 200 years either. There's a middle ground, and while they're impressive, saying Shedeur is a Heisman frontrunner over Williams and Penix (and even Travis) isn't reality.

You are right, I don't follow it a ton because I'm too busy traveling around reffing D2 games and watching my kids' play football & volleyball most weeks.

But I really hope Colorado shows up in the next 2 weeks and Shedeur becomes a legit Heisman candidate because your "not a diss on you, but you are an idiot" routine kinda rubs me the wrong way.

Good for them.

Yeah, probably silly, those kids will agree in ten years. Last night? Eh why not?

Deion, man. A month ago, it was lol good luck competing with a bunch of transfers.

Now it's well your kid isn't the Heisman favorite, and CO isn't really a threat for the national title.

He's already won. Now it's just a matter of degree

I’m not a Prime fan, but one thing he’s accomplishing is getting folks like Jayrod who don’t follow college football to follow it. One of my daughters asked me about Colorado and trust me she couldn’t name a single football player (except maybe Travis Kelce!)

All I know is I have 5th row seats with a direct sight line to Primetime this Sat and I cannot wait! Oregon favored by 17...

I haven't been this excited for a college game in a long time and it's all because I want to watch the Deion show in person. At the very least, he's the most entertaining and interesting thing going in sports right now.

Does every football success story have to end up with a multi year dynasty and championships? Can a school that was mostly forgotten gaining momentum be enough for anyone?

We are in an era where TV rights rule all and regional rivalries are gone, Colorado was left out of those discussions and a lesser extent TCU was and we can actually like it that they are having success. It's ok.

Didn't mean it as an insult at all, no need to get defensive. Apologies if it came across that way.

And yes I agree that he MAY (if they somehow shock oregon and USC) become Heisman 'candidate', which is far different than him being the frontrunner right now.

Good points. Fair enough.

Guess I just don't like people acting he's gonna win the Heisman, or thinking they will win the next two weeks. What he's done there is remarkable, but I do personally believe that the hype is going to be a lot died down in a few weeks and casual fans will return to being casual fans.

Love the thread title as well. My 19 yo son taught me what "mid" means some time ago, I still don't use it b/c I'm old but I love that all the same. :)

scanny is a work in progress when they are right they are really right when they arent they really arent but its the start of something and fickle just doesnt seem to have the rushers he wants for the 3 down lineman to work yet i predict in a year or two our personnel will look a lot different and we will see things improve take that to the bank brohans
