2023 College football thread - Ryan Day spends postgame looking for Papa John’s pizza and a golf cart. (12 Viewers)

Not watching the FSU game….is it for sure a broken leg?
He was put into an air cast, which typically does indicate break. Where it looked to be injured appeared too high to be a joint, so it’d be surprising if it weren’t.
With those kind of leg injuries the hope is no artery damage

Sucks. Really liked FSUs chances this year. Enjoy watching Keon Coleman.

Catch, sadly I'm gonna vote NO.

EDIT: Assume we're all watching FLA vs MIZZOU.

EDIT2: UW vs OSU looks great too. EDIT: Possibly awesome.

I know QBs dominate the Heisman, but it’s hard to picture anyone other than Harrison deserving the award.

What Nix and Penix has done is awesome too, but I think tOSU is a multi-loss team this year without him vs undefeated. Michigan looked vulnerable today and if tOSU wins next week, I’d find it harder to deny him as he’s gonna play a big role.
Only 1 WR in last 30 years…and it took 1800 yards and 23 TDs.

Just hearing about the injury but I did google a still shot picture, it wasn't looking good
Leg was in an unnatural position after the play
Shame it was against a nobody, he shouldn't even have been out there.

Of course he's the starting QB so he should be out there but he really shouldn't vs such a lesser opponent 2nd to last game of the season

5 undefeated teams going into the final week. Absolutely crazy.
Let's say Washington wins out, Ohio St/Michigan winner beats Iowa in the B1G championship, and FSU wins out. Then Alabama beats UGA in the SEC championship and Texas wins out. Who are the four teams?

Washington 13-0
Michigan or OSU 13-0
Florida State 13-0
Texas 12-1 with a win at Alabama
Alabama 12-1 and SEC champions
Georgia 12-1 and clearly one of the four best teams

Wash Mich/osu fsu and Bama

They’ll give Bama credit for beating Georgia, running table in sec and make excuse for how the qb was in his second start against Texas. “They’re clearly a different team now”

They give a lot of credit for winning the conference so I would think Georgia would be out.

Liberty is 11-0. Even with a 16 team bracket they’d be left out by the voters, or the algorithm or dice roll or whatever. That’s why we need a 32 team playoff to make this fair.

That flying sit down tackle is starting to become the new injury causer that feels like it could get ruled changed like horse collar was.

Same thing took out Mark Andrews on Thursday.
If they care about player safety they've gotta dump the hip drop, make it the same penalty as targeting.

Bo Nix just secured the Heisman.
It's him vs
Daniels
at this point

Well, and Penix I guess.

Daniels
is a beast. Just think those 3 losses (or more?) will hurt him.
All I know is I’m watching Caleb
Williams
and wondering how he won one. Dude is mid.
Did you see him last year? Was like Jesus himself was playing QB
Anyone can have one good season.

Wisconsin, who is terrible at football and got absolutely demolished at home last weekend by Northwestern, has now qualified for a bowl game in 22 straight seasons - the longest current streak in the Big ten and third-longest overall behind Georgia (26) and Oklahoma (24).
And of course, the week I had them in my parlay, they lose to freaking Indiana. How do you lose to Indiana?

Not going to link it as it’s from an Ohio State fan site that contains typical one sided fandom, but there has been one guy posting information that has been correct multiple times about the cheating allegations and the consequences that have happened this far.

He says more major news coming out Tuesday about UM and possibly another coach fired. The poster supposedly has a media connection that is feeding him info.

He also said that if UM beats OSU this weekend that his media friend is expecting the conference to step in and not allow UM to play in the conference championship. According to the media contact, the conference is hoping that UM loses this weekend and they do not have to step in.

Allegations include gambling connections with some coaches (possibly the one already fired), and in game or during the game communications from outside sources that aided coaching staff during half time adjustments.

I guess we will see tomorrow.

The conference that is getting all their information from the NCAA is not going to let Michigan play in the conference championship game after winning all their games and earning the right to play. Without doing their own investigation?

That is seems incredibly unlikely. Talk about trying to ruin a conference.

From @BenScottStevens on twitter:

The Iowa-Nebraska total opens at O/U 27.5 points.

This would match the lowest FBS total EVER, tying Iowa’s game vs. Rutgers two weeks ago.

This will be the 6th time in Iowa’s past 14 games the Over-Under is the lowest/ co-lowest FBS total ever.

All 5 prior games went Under.

Not buying this part. Talk about causing an even worse **** storm. If the conference has a reason to make Michigan ineligible for the championship game, they better be announcing that now.

I didn't realize former Gopher HC Jerry Kill (who I thought wasn't supposed to coach anymore after all those heart issues) was the head coach of New Mexico State who just got done embarrassing Auburn. That's good stuff. His team is 9-3 with two games left. If he wins 10 games at New Mexico State, it'll be the first time that school has done that since 1960! Even if he doesn't, New Mexico State hasn't even won 9 games in a season since 1960. What a great job by Jerry Kill.

Wish I could read some Auburn message boards this morning.

Well you can't have a one loss Georgia in over a one loss Alabama. So does the SEC sit out because Washington played Tulsa, Boise, and Michigan State as non-conference games?

I never said anything about Alabama's hypothetical resume v Washington, the OSU/M winner, or FSU. If you want to argue Alabama should get in over them, I'll listen.

I'm just saying that when two teams have similar resumes and one beat the other at their place, the team who won should absolutely get in over the team that lost. If that means no SEC champ - so be it.

Why are you bringing Washington's OOC games into this?

I had the same thought.

Washington is undefeated in this season's deepest conference, and has beaten the current #6, 11, 17 and 22 in the most recent CFP committee rankings, two of them on the road. They will probably beat WSU next week to go 12-0 and play Oregon again in the Pac12 championship game. There is absolutely no questioning Washington's resume to this point of this season. Oregon will be favored in that title game because they've looked to be the better team since losing to Washington.

Maybe they'll lose to WSU next week. They will probably lose to Oregon on 12/1. But based on their resume as of today, Washington should be #4 tomorrow night. Obviously they're going to have to go 13-0 to make the CFP.

The reason why the OOC was brought up was an attempt to weaken their resume, but it's disingenuous, IMO. Especially when you know those games are scheduled years in advance and at the time both Boise State and especially Michigan State were very good, winning football teams.

Plus, Georgia's OOC games were UT Martin, Ball State and UAB. Alabama had Chattanooga (LAST WEEK) to go with South Florida and a directional Tennessee school. But Washington needs to get kicked down because of Boise State, Tulsa and Michigan State? C'mon......

If anything, I think Michigan and Ohio State should be punished for playing in a god awful conference. They both got to play Michigan State, I see no whining about that, nor any of the other road apples that are in that conference this year.

Hard to argue with this logic....the B1G West is awful, and typically considered the JV League in the B1G. Hoping things will change for the better once some of those PAC 12 teams show up next year. They'll provide a good shot in the arm above some of the lower teams in the conference.

They sorta are right? Whoever loses the game this weekend is officially out of the playoff picture. There is no argument for having them both still in the last four this year like there was last.

I'm so ****ing glad this is the last year of these stupid conversations.

Yes, correct which is why I'm really not bothered by UW's placement below them right now. It's temporary.

Yeah, I'm glad it's the final year for the 4 Team CFP. That said, I look forward to the inevitable squabbling over the 12 teams that make the 2024's playoffs and those that don't. ;)

My point was that it's not two teams, it's three teams. Sure if it was Texas vs. Alabama then head to head matters. But when you have Texas, Georgia, and Alabama in the mix then you can't eliminate Alabama from the mix because they lost to Texas and then use Georgia's loss to to Alabama to eliminate them.

I wasn't picking on Washington in particular. I was also working on the assumption that Oregon beats them and there's another 1 loss team in the mix. Hard to exclude the winner of the best conference because they played the toughest non-conference opponent. Point was that you have to look at the resumes of each team and not just say Texas is in because they beat Alabama heads up.

Regardless...Georgia rolls and it doesn't matter.

Same reason anybody ever brings up OOC schedule. If they discuss the entire schedule, they no longer have an argument for how good their team is.
Welcome aboard, GM. I'm pretty sure you're an SEC honk now.

This isn't directed at BnB, by the way. It's more of a response to all the decades of people trying to convince themselves that the SEC was being propped up by ESPN and OOC schedule.
