He has made multiple terrible reads and throws. Including that last one.

For some reason I was wondering what you specifically would say about me coming in and saying "really?" about this guy.

He looks like a stiff. Nice arm, but where's it going, big guy? He also looks slightly immobile or awkward in his movements.

I think he cost himself a ton tonight. If he sat out, he'd likely be a mid-first, but that looked bad.

And if Corum is one of the better RBs in the class, this class is indeed weak at RB.

People will say well he was hurt but that was later in the game. He cost his team with poor decision making and late throws all game. Held the ball too long. Overshot everything. One of the worst performances I’ve seen from a guy that good in a while.

Yeah. Penix played poorly tonight. A lot of that is because the Michigan D is pretty great. But he certainly had his chances and missed them, including a couple of TD passes.

Dad won a Natty, John won a Superbowl and will probably be in another one this year, Jim was in a Superbowl and just won a Natty. No family of coaches will ever come close to that.

Dad Jack is great in the community around Ann Arbor as is Jim. Don`t know about John. I have met Jack more than once, very nice man, A true football coach. Been around Jim a couple times at summer volleyball camps my daughter worked at Michigan. The guy hung out like he was a low level assistant talking to the parents of campers.

I'm just describing how he looked tonight, which is why I asked if he was bad overall or if he'd had a poor night. All I kept hearing was mid-first round and he looked like he belonged in the second or third tonight.

He looked stiff, awkward, held the ball too long, and overthrew guys tonight. He got pummeled partly because of that and partly because of his line. I don't think that's a controversial assessment.

Admittedly I hadn't watched a lot of Penix but did catch both Oregon games, the Texas game and this one. Big difference was the pressure the UM d-line got. He didn't have the time he did in those other games. However, he sucked pretty bad and looked really uncomfortable for a guy playing his 5/6 year and is the Heismann winner. He has weird release points and arm mechanics and I'd be worried about balls getting consistently tipped in the pros. But he's still really good and will play on Sundays - just don't think he's a sure thing.

Also, I would like to see him run more last night. He seemed hesitant to run - maybe it was the ribs?

4 season ending ACL surgeries while at Indiana also has something to do with it I think.

He just kept missing high. It wasn’t yips all over the place but specifically high for some reason. Part was the Michigan D, but those glaring misses were clean pockets for the most part.

Have to say I was shocked at how Michigan made Penix look like a raw freshman. Plus later in the second half he looked scared as he was taking a beating. Those 2 Michigan tackles were bull rushing and getting unreal pressure up the middle, they were the most physical football team I have seen in a long time. They impose their will on opponents.

Watching Penix he looks like he slings the ball side arm like my old video football games. Wondering if he will be good at the next level.

I agree, Corum is a great college RB but not sure about the NFL. Short but very shifty, squatty and strong as a bull with great balance, but does not have the high end speed.

I always wonder how good these 5th and 6th year seniors are. They are 23 sometimes 24 year olds going against 18 to 21 year olds. Three to five years might not seem like a lot, but at that age it is a huge difference.

It is huge. It is more practice, reps, weight/speed training. With redshirt and added COVID years guys are playing college ball for 5-6 years. Many of those players will never play pro football or BB, but they will be great additions to college teams.

You can't make a decision on a player on how they looked in a National Title game, do you remember how good JaMarcus Russell played/looked? Well I sure do

I've not paid attention to the totality of the class yet, but I think Corum will be a great draft selection come April .It'll be a 5th round draft selection, but he'll deliver solid ROI at that price point.

That's not how the Heisman works. Just to clear up some obviously bad takes in this thread:

1. Penix wasn't even close to being the most accurate passer this year.
2. UW wasn't close to being the best offense this year.
3. Penix is not the best player in the country.

As I hoped, Michigan really took it to the Joe Moore-winning Washington O line. Poor #73 ...couple of movement penalties; couple of holding calls (one of them extremely costly). That game will haunt him forever. But the Michigan defensive front did what they needed to do. They brought consistent pressure and seemingly got inside of Penix's head (no pun intended).

As to Corum not necessarily ending up in the NFL: If nothing else, he probably ended up with over $1M of NIL money from his college days, so if he handled that carefully, he should have a nice base to support himself as he moves on.

I was basing that comment on the 3.5 yards per before contact he gets. Just seems like the Rams have a very strong run blocking scheme. Same as other leaders in that category this year (CMC, Mostert, and Achane). So think the scheme helps a lot, but he has also good at breaking tackles at the next levels. Smart teams get players that fit.

Sure there is. It's for the best player in the country. Sometimes that player is on one of the best teams, sometimes he's not. Caleb Williams, Lamar Jackson, Manziel, RG3. It happens quite often. Daniels wasn't just the best player, he was the best player by a large margin. I will also argue that him winning 10 games this year against that schedule and with the 130th or so ranked defense should put him in the conversation for one of the best players ever. Of course none of that matters, but anyone saying it should not have been Daniels didn't watch him play enough.
