2023 Dallas Cowboys — 9-3 Philly heading to Jerryworld next (1 Viewer)

4th round passing up other good talent - for some Blake Jarwin type of TE.

Call me underwhelmed with draft and all things Cowboys.

I'd give them a B so far.

They've addressed needs with players that will likely contribute early on. There is nothing earth shattering about what they've done, but no major mistakes either.

I liked the Williams pick in the 2nd, until I heard about the off field stuff. Like the Tolbert and Clark picks as well.

Was really hoping they would have gone secondary earlier.

Tyron Smith out until at least december

An offensive line that was suspect just got worse.
Downgrade all Cowboys offensive players imo

My bad, hamstring is torn from bone. I’d be surprised if Tyron ever suits up again

:kicksrock:

Damn. It's time to retire i think
Hes like 30. It’s a hamstring.
I feel like he’s missed 20 games the last 3 years.
Look, I’ve loved having him as our LT, he’s broken

Im all for finding his replacement and or a backup but hes not that old and not even expensive.

I like this roster. Defense is going to be fun to watch. I said last year before the season started that the defense would be good and nobody took me serious. This defense will be better.

I don’t think Lamb is ready but If they focus on the run they won’t need to rely on him to. They need to run the ball 60-70% of the time and rely on the defense and a strong kicking game and they will win.

I don’t expect them to be smart enough to do that so my expectations are pretty low. Personally, I’m not getting excited for anything other than watching Micah Parsons and Dak.

Does Peters have anything left? Is it ability or health failing him?
Don't think he has much left in the tank at all. That said, he's still a big body that can block. But he's likely not going to play the snap count or game count that you'd hope. Did he officially sign yet?

No, due in for a visit. I don't want him to start. I was just wondering if hes done because he cant play or cant stay healthy (,or both).

Thanks for visiting our thread.....thread...thread..... /echo

I mean if he's just depth and will come very cheap (not sure he will, he was after a big contract at the end of his run), then I guess there would be no issue with it and little risk. He's smart enough to pick up the schemes I'm sure, and could go in and be pretty productive maybe on 3rd downs or something. Not sure how you guys rotate your Oline though.

Read that he signed there today but that may have been a fake twitter account.

He’s yet another guard they’re forcing to play tackle and he’s going to lead the league in holding penalties. He’s a mauler, let him road grade.

Who’s going to start at LT?

And we shouldn’t be having this convo a week before the season. Fn Jerry ….

Missed this somehow. Man I guess the kid is from what theyre saying. I did see an interview with him and I came away very impressed. That doesnt mean he can play right now but.

From what I can tell, Peters actually played pretty well last year for Chicago and would be a solid addition.

I hope he doesn’t have to play LT…at least this yr.
Talking $ with Peters last I read

I think he is going to for at least one game. At least its not against a good defense.

I also think we have a shot vs. TB with how beat up their Oline is. Parsons and Lawrence should eat.

Good to see you here again Bankerguy.

I loved Gregory’s potential but he wasn’t great against the run and he averaged a .5 sacks a game. Wasn’t worth the penalties. He actually cost us a couple games.

Point is- this DL is superior to last year. They now have beef in the middle and plenty of depth at both DE and DT.

Safety has been one our biggest issues all the way back since Woodson left poor Roy Williams to fend for himself…

Israel Mukuamu looks like a Stud in the making. I’m not huge on Kerse (because he holds so much) but he fits the scheme for DQ. If Malik Hooker can get back to pre injury form- and physically he should be able to now that he’s more than a year removed from his injury.

I ❤️ Maher. I don’t care if he can’t hit a 24 yarder, get a punter who can hit the XP. I want Maher for his 60+ yarders.

Well, Cooper is gone. He fits that mold.
In general, I’m down on the Offense and excited about the Defense.

Yeah, Cooper was soft. I just want them to run, run, run. I don’t need them scoring 40 and throwing the ball all over the place. Control the clock, play great defense and play conservative on offense.

Peters signs today as predicted.

The Peters situation is a classic divide for fans. I see lots of Cowboys fans are already complaining that signing a 40 year old with history of injuries is stupid. However, I darn well know that the same fans would ***** and moan if the FO did nothing.

I’m more than happy with the signing.

The Bucs have been good against the run in recent years. The Cowboys have the talent to be a balanced offense, even with having two starting WRs hurt, and the departure of others. They can get creative while waiting for the other WRs to get healthy. Last year they came close to beating the Bucs, and part of them being in the game was because they didn't play conservative.

That was last year. The cowboys don’t have the same offensive firepower.

ETA - Week ONE of last year.

Could be a lot of 2 RB sets with Pollard split out.

The Bucs lost Gronk, Antonio Brown, and Godwin is returning from an ACL tear. He may or may not play week 1. They have some new faces in their WR group. The Cowboys have players who can catch the ball. Zeke, Pollard, Lamb, Schultz, Tolbert, Ferguson, etc. can catch the ball. Both teams have lost key offensive linemen. If Dallas runs, runs, runs, I hope Zeke doesn't get a case of fumblitis.
