2023 Dallas Cowboys Thread — 2-0 Arizona up next (2 Viewers)

We are stacked at WR and DE. Even with Martin back, I'm hearing whispers of the OL being kinda thin. Maybe a smart trade to hedge against injury. Who's deep at OL?

ETA: I've been drinking a little.

Overshown went down with what looked to be a left knee injury. Was in pain. Carted off. Big blow for the guy

So who is your other linebacker that will start?

It wasn’t so much that he was a full time starter as much as we lose a potentially really athletic play maker that we could rotate in and out.

He loses a year of playing time too. Really a gut punch to start the season.
From what I read, he was having a really good camp. I hate injury season as much as the rest. Who do you think will fill in besides LVE this year?

Overshown was a gut punch, but this is devastating. Was looking for him to make a big jump this year.

Mentioned this in the Lance thread but Dallas pretty much needs to extend Dak or move on from his after this season. That makes this somewhat interesting.

I think i remember seeing that his contact is pretty restrictive to cut him before the end of 2024.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, you’re getting the number three pick overall for a fourth round flyer but I like what we do if our draft picks these days and I like them to be used on offensive lineman and defensive players.

Still loving everything I’m reading and hearing about T/G Asim Richards. IMO, He starts next season. If Tyron misses his usual 6-8 games this will be his last season here.

A 4th for a QB with potential. Seems ok to me despite having no real expectations.

Just think - we finally got a QB proven to beat SF already :lmao:
This was a good trade...folks shouldn't over think it. Good potential at a modicum of risk. And how much is Dak owed in the next few years?

49ers are a good enough organization with enough street cred to get away with just saying 'F it' to a bad decision. They moved on and I personally think they believe Shanahan can do something with Darnold in the long run.. guess we'll see.

Seems like a dumb trade when you already have Dak, but I also thought it was dumb of us to Draft Jalen when we already had Wentz and that turned out.

Never know what will happen, if he takes a Jalen-like jump and Dak takes a Wentz-like crash, this could be one of the best trades you ever made.

There are going to be a few teams fighting for Will Grier today. He's in for a decent paycheck, and he deserves it.

So Jerry traded for Lance without talking to the coaches?

Dak sure seems thrilled, listening to his take on that.

And then Jerry doubles down to a degree, basically saying they wanted to draft Hurts in 2020.

Interesting developments.

If you’re still taking anything Jerry Jones says at face value, than I don’t know what to tell you.

The man is a machine.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Just depends, but he definitely throws out the truth sometimes.

But I was implying Dak and how this might affect his thought process. Dak is a strong minded dude, but he definitely did not seem very happy that you guys added Lance. Considering the value was the same as they drafted Dak, I'm sure the irony isn't lost on him. I'm sure its higher level chess re: negotiations on an extension, but still seems like some unforced drama here.

Jones said Lance could "pay dividends" this season. Does he think Lance is gonna help them beat the 49ers?

Week 5 is gonna be fun.

I see Lance as:

1) 3rd string this year. Red shirt him.

2) Someone who could have a great pre season next year - we flip him for an improvement on the 4th we paid.

3) Potential back up next year.

Anything else is impossible to accurately predict.

:goodposting:

He’s just a great value. We prop him up and develop him without any of the pressure and expectations of being the 3rd pick of the draft.

In the meantime he’s QB3 and a great guy to run the practice squad for when we play these “new age” QBs. (The guys who are better at running than throwing).

Ok so my preliminary 53…

Dak/Rush/Lance

Pollard/Dowdle/Vaughn/Luepke

Lamb/Tolbert/Turpin/Brooks

Smith/Richards
Smith/Bass
Biadasz/ ?
Martin/Ball/Farniak
Steele/Waletzso

Micah

Mazi/Osa/Hankins/Gallamore

LVE/Clark/Land/Cox
