Slot Corner although they switched up his role (haven't seen the All 22 or an explain as to what that means)

Tracy Walker and Ifeatu Melifonwu played S

former tore his achilles 364 days ago, this was his first start, had an excellent (2 dropped INT but his ball skillz suck lol)

the latter is an underwhelming CB/NCB who had never played Safety until today and held up pretty well

Forget Defensive Rookie of the Week, should get consideration for NFL Defensive Player of the Week.
 
The Lions have now scored at least 20 points for the 12th straight game, the longest active streak in the NFL and the second-longest streak in franchise history.

They also went 12 straight games with at least 20 points from 1989-90.

The franchise record is 13 games.
 
Per The Athletic Week 3 Recap show:

Falcons success rate on run plays: 3 out of 19

averaged (-0.75) yards before contact

3rd worst of the Arthur Smith era (the other two were when Matt Ryan was still around)

this was the second best defensive run defense game for the Lions (best was Vikings last year)
 
Many of these are from the 16 game era, but right around 99% of 0-3 teams don't make the playoffs. Vikings and Bears are both in deep 🙂, although I do expect Minnesota to come back from that at least somewhat.

Since 2020, 20 of the 33 teams that were 2-1 made the playoffs - 60.6%.
Since 2020, 10 of the 40 teams that were 1-2 made the playoffs - 25%.

I loved that postgame he was mad himself for a missed tackle (first of his career.) He had some big hits on Bijan, Pitts & Allgeier. He ain’t that big but he’s a jarring tackler.

Team seemed pretty even after the game. Cool, cool, but tough one coming up so that’s the mindset.

Gotta stay humble bc this league will humble you quick. Few teams thought they had an easy one going into yesterday & they’re having a miserable Monday.
 
Dan Campbell has passed Matt Patricia in wins.

That was a very tough throw and catch. Cousins threw a fastball away from Hockenson. The Vikings end of the game clock management was so awful.

Not even remotely the same and who cares what former Lion players do? What is this fascination with former Lions doing poorly? Who cares? The team is good without them.

I am sure we could find throws that were easier to catch they were missed. Hockenson's catch wasn't easy it was thrown behind him and he was covered. I am not going to look, but I would be surprised if it was even classified as a drop.

I agree with this but it goes both ways and includes possible draft picks . All the Bijan fans were probably just waiting for him to do well against the Lions, since they coulda woulda drafted him at 6 instead of trading back for the combo of Gibbs and LaPorta. let's just go with the guys we have, they definitely seem to be on the right track with the current team they have assembled.
 
IDC one way or another about Hock, was watching the end game & posted what had just happened. I hope Swift balls out, I remain a big fan of Slay’s game, Stafford is a good dude who deserves what he’s achieved out west.
 
Aidan Hutchinson (91.8) and Brian Branch (84.9) lead the way for Lions on defense in PFF grades. Hutchinson with another six pressures, his first two sacks of the year, & a fumble recovery.

Never been a second where I questioned the Hockinson trade. Now with LaPorta, even less so if that is possible. Would not take Hock back even if they swapped contracts.

Not always agree with PFF, but those are good rankings. As well as Branch played, Hutch had a hell of a game. Branch and LaPorta are playing like top 10 picks. Pro-Bowlers this year.

Will always be a fan of Slay and Stafford. I disowned the Lions with how they treated Slay. Was the Lions stupidest move in history. Sheila was my hero for getting rid of Patrica as fast as she did. Stafford trade was just a great move for all parties.

Feel same about Hock. Lions will get same production out of LaPorta for pennies on the cap dollar. Stafford had to mutually go. Slay should have been a Lion.

Was hoping Lions kept Swift for a couple of reasons. If we drafted Carter truly believe it would have helped free up Hutch even more as he is a force in the middle.

But even if they did not take Carter the added RB depth never hurts, for 1.7 would have been worth it.

But they will be fine without him.

Detroit's overall Run Grade as a team is 67.1, which ranks 13th. Their Team Tackling Grade is 44.6, which ranks 26th.

In terms of raw Team Defense counting stats:

In 2022, the Lions were 29th in rushing yards allowed (146.5 /g), 30th in YPC (5.2), and 30th in Rushing TDs allowed (22.)

Through 3 games this year, they are 5th in yards (72.0), 5th in YPC (3.2) , and 10th in TDs allowed (2.)
 
Thinking about GB I’m speculating that the Packers come out the more emotional team. Playing at home in a big revenge game against a divisional opponent in a Thursday night contest would be reasons that this may happen.

In last year’s game at GB the Lions came out coolly confident and determined and are going to need the same thing in this game.

I’m not good at predictions but good chance Lions will need to weather an early storm from the GB defense which is a good one.

Lions defense hopefully can respond and can get Love to turn it over early and take away their momentum.

Both teams banged up. Sounds like Aaron Jones will be back & Christian Watson will make his season debut, but CB Jaire Alexander might be out.

Rashan Gary, coming off a 3 sack game, missed Week 18 last year.

Looking over Jerry Jacobs grades, I can see why they're thinking about throwing Emmanuel out there on one leg. Given up 15 receptions and opposing QBs have a 120.1 passer rating against him 21 attempts. Leads the Lions in penalties (3) and missed tackles (6.)

He has played 100% of the defensive snaps at RCB. His coverage grade of 44.4 is ranked 141st out of 154 qualifying Cornerbacks.

Was he even the Lions DPotW? To my eyes Brian Branch was more impactful. Anyway good for him.

Both Branch and Sam LaPorta were nominated for Rookie of the Week but obviously that's going to Achane
 
I haven't listened yet but a buddy was telling me a Lions pod was talking about how the Lions used Campbell at edge a bit this week...which I seem to remember someone saying when we drafted him ;)
