2023 Las Vegas Raiders - RIP Jack - one of the greatest Super Bowl moments ever (1 Viewer)

Who are these guys playing lights out in silver and black? What did they do with the team im used to seeing ?

I dont have that same feeling of dread going into the 2nd half with a lead

Id kill to be in that Raiders locker room for halftime just to feel the confidence and swagger these men must have right now , something special is happening , i pray they keep it going

24-0 is a good start to Antonio "Airhorn" Pierce's tenure as interim. I can't imagine we'll see much of Adams this half. No need to throw the ball with DeVito playing QB for the Giants.

D@mn! How bad was McDaniels at his job? So bad, makes me wonder if him and Ziegler were tanking for a QB next year. I think they thought Davis was going to give them 4-5 years and year two was a throwaway season. I have no other way to explain this madness unless he owed a bookie a whole bunch of money.

Loving this but I’m pumping the brakes a lot.
always a boost when a new coach comes in. Everyone turns it up a notch.
And it’s against a horrible giants team.
it’s NEXT week that I’m super interested to see how they come out and play.
fingers firmly crossed. Just happy McD is gone gone gone.

DeVito is 9/12 for 125 and a TD. That needs to be fixed

No, I just know the honeymoon will end very quickly when they play a better team. It’s looking more like McDaniels was setting the team up for failure as part of an overall plan. It’s going to be tough to overcome that with a rookie QB.

I didn't see the game. The scoreboard says a lot though.

For those that say that McD had some plan to tank for a QB... I have a question... do you really think that if that was the case, this would not be something discussed and communicated to Davis? What NFL coach would ever think "I am going to suck as bad as I can so we get a top pick next year" and think that their job was secure if they did not 'clear' it with the owner.

Do you really think McD has a realistic chance of a third NFL HC job? Has anyone been fired mid 2nd year in two disastrous stops and get a third chance?

What is much more likely is that McD is a total trainwreck of a HC. This is all exactly is what I was saying before we were hiring and some wanted him. Though it was actually even worse because I expected him to run a good offense in that I did (did key word) have respect for him as an OC. I had hoped and hoped that maybe it was a maturity issue but the reality is McD is not a good HC. Is he a jerk personally? I don't know, but he obviously tries to emulate the jerk Belicheat and it just does not work.

Over and over and over again, we are seeing that the "Patriot Way" was "ride Tom Brady's coattails" and then get exposed when he leaves or one of the new branches of the coaching tree heads off to get chopped down. The "Patriot Way" sans Tom Brady has failed in multiple places with multiple coaches under Belicheat and once Brady leaves, even Belicheat is exposed.

I just don’t have any other explanation for how bad the offense played under McDaniels. He held players back like Renfrow, AOC and Tucker. Started the season with one of the worst QB rooms in the NFL, drafted and injured project 7th overall. It might be silly, but I do have my suspicions.
Davis was all on board until the Chicago game and when fans started taunting him in public. When it became obvious to average fans that the offense shouldn’t be as bad as it was, Davis finally said enough was enough.

None taken, Arizona is tanking, it’s obvious. It’s not the players. It’s front office, the people who pull the strings. They’re the ones who “tank”.

It`s literally this simple , that and the fact his personality sucks so bad hes toxic , he cannot lead men ...at all.

The Raiders played like a team thats had a tight leash on them and were finally let loose to run like the wind , happy and excited . Nothing as nefarious as implied , just men allowed to be men without a foot on their necks . This win will feed a hunger they have craved all year , and winning tastes so much better than losing.

But why would Davis apologize to the players? No. McD is really THAT bad.

I don’t disagree. I really do think that McD and Ziegler thought they had more time to build out the roster. We all knew this wasn’t a Super Bowl caliber team in 2023. McD, Ziegler and Davis knew it too. It was either incredibly stupid to bring in JimmyG without a solid back up OR they knew he wasn’t going to survive the whole season. 2023 was the beginning of the bridge QB part of the rebuild. Turns out Jimmy was so bad, and AOC showed so much promise that their plan fell through.

I think they led Davis on a little bit. Going into the season without a real QB and drafting Wilson were all red flags everyone overlooked, including Davis.

Jimmy G is another example of why I don't think that they were trying to lose. I believe that they thought (like more than a couple around here) that Jimmy G was a good QB. I mean, sure, we saw how bad he was... but if you really want to 'tank' then you go with the rookie QB. Well... then again, maybe it was so obvious in practice that the rookie was way better than Jimmy G ever was and that Jimmy G has been born under a lucky star for his "winning career".

I think we just need to accept that McD is absolutely horrible as a HC. Good luck going back to NE.

The way that you tank in this league is that you trade away all your good and decent players you can to stack up the draft picks.

This is just McD sucks as a HC. Like an epic level of suck.
There’s absolute truth to this. But it’s possible there was a level of “we’re not ready to compete for championships in 2023”. So let’s see how far Jimmy can get us until it’s time to play the rookie. If AOC isn’t cutting it, we’ll hopefully be in position to draft a top QB in 2024.

you can say, "it's just the giants" but the jets just played them and didn't put up this many points and the giants couldn't scored more against the jets defense.

can't have it both ways. raiders D held this same offense to less points than the jets D and that defense is widely acknowledged as one of the best in the league. raiders offense post mcdonkey can score more than 13 points, which is all the jets managed in their last game against this same giants team.

Exactly my point. It was painfully obvious to the casual fan that AOC is better right now than JimmyG. They got exposed.

we held a different QB to that but yes

I don’t think anyone is buying the tanking theory when the obvious answer is they had a terrible GM that made some terrible signings, a terrible coach with zero leadership skills, and a terrible QB with a noodle arm.

Im not ready to say we are playoff bound but this is the best I have felt as a Raider fan in years!

Tank is the wrong word to describe what they were trying to do. It’s all about semantics. Let’s call it a “multi-year rebuild” Year 2 of a total roster rebuild is typically not a winning season. As Raiders fans we’ve seen over and over. Year two of Gruden 2.0 was terrible as well. Not McD level terrible, but it was bad. It’s building the foundation and they screwed up really bad handing out contracts to players they didn’t even know would fit their schemes and what they were trying to do. Or even like for that matter. Big screw up #2 was JimmyG. Once they realized he was injured they should have cut bait and went with someone who was going to be there all offseason. It felt like the offense was in perpetual preseason. No - if that were the case, they’d be winning more games. I just think Josh thought he had more time and his sense of urgency to turn the offense around wasn’t there. Just terrible leadership on all counts as well.

I was surprised he got a shot after he did the Colts the way he did.
He is done for having chances at another shot at HC in the NFL. If he wants to HC, he is going to have to follow Lane Kiffen's lead and go to college (though there is no way he could recruit well). I can't see any team outside of the Pats giving him a shot and the Pats are on the fastpass to ending Belicheats era there since he has been exposed as a fraud too. Without Belicheat, McD won't be able to rehabilitate his reputation to even have a shot at that.

I have seen a lot of short videos of the players (free from McD "Patriots Way" social media lock down) and man.... they all look like 2,000 pounds have been lifted off of their shoulders.

If they thought this was a multi-year rebuild they wouldn't have traded high picks for Adams or signed Chandler Jones for big money as well as other moves. Everything I see just points to them being bad at their jobs.

OK, Mr. [Josh McDonald's wife's maiden name], he had a good plan that just didn't work out.

Could Adams get over 25 targets this week?
You don't want him to be targeted in that volume, with which QB? The better offense is targeting Jacobs out of the backfield on screens, checkdowns etc. ala Jamaal Charles and such. Targeting Adams that much in a game will leas to more sacks taken by the QB than completions, I mean 25 attempts to Adams? He only caught one of eleven last game, with a QB who posted a high completion percentage that was mostly behind the LOS in yards past lol.
You're right. 30 targets.
I bet you gamble like you play FF.
40 targets for sure.
7 is basically 40

It felt like the offense was in perpetual preseason. No - if that were the case, they’d be winning more games. I just think Josh thought he had more time and his sense of urgency to turn the offense around wasn’t there. Just terrible leadership on all counts as well.
If they thought this was a multi-year rebuild they wouldn't have traded high picks for Adams or signed Chandler Jones for big money as well as other moves. Everything I see just points to them being bad at their jobs.
Did anyone really think this team had a shot at the playoffs? Especially when at one point in the offseason the only QB they had under contract was Chase Garbers. They didn’t even want to keep Stidham, which in hindsight would’ve made way more sense than giving JimmyG that stupid contract. This team under McZ with Jimmy at QB scared absolutely no one in the NFL.

OK, Mr. [Josh McDonald's wife's maiden name], he had a good plan that just didn't work out.
That’s not at all what I’m saying. And if I were McDs wife I’d be too busy counting my millions my husband stole from Mark Davis instead of writing on these boards.

Y’all need to put down the tinfoil hats. McZ we’re just really bad at their jobs.
Can’t both be true? They weren’t tanking in the Arizona Cardinals sense. They were focused too much on the future and not enough on the now IMO. Gave out a bunch of stupid contracts, when they realized that, they put their tails between their legs. Jimmy was their meal ticket to the top of the draft.

I agree. I’ll even go a step further, if they really knew how to run a franchise, they wouldn’t have traded for Adams and just keep the 1st and 2nd round picks and build through the draft like McZ said they want to do. There’s so much hypocrisy in what they were trying to do it could never work. And just didn’t make any sense. So many things they did made no sense.
