Agreed. I think I pointed that out in the predicate of my sentence about Winston in that post. I don't think that a Winston signing is very likely. I've been a Jameis honk ever since Arians, but Arians wanted nothing to do with him when all was said and done. I think he had like 30 TDS and 30 picks one year. Yeah, he did. 33 TDs and 30 picks.

That's not what the Jets are looking for. He's still better than Brissett, Dalton, and Jimmy G, though. That's just my opinion. He at least gives you a fighting chance where the other guys lose the game with a slow grind. I wouldn't look at my rankings as hard-and-fast because it seems to me like once you scrape the bottom of the barrel past Carr, you've got tons of reasons to start or not start guys. It's like having a bunch of crappy receivers in FF. Who is going to give you a good week that week? You just don't know.

Yeah, obviously Winston gives you a puncher's chance with the right weapons. But I just dont see them going with a guy that can put them in that kind of trouble on his bad days.

Really just hate pretty much all the options other than Rodgers and Carr. Brissett will cost very little and will keep you in games, but the ceiling is so low. He could probably get them into the playoffs as a wildcard, but any sort of deep run would be very unlikely.

I do think he was able to keep turnovers under control during his season starting for the Saints - but yeah, relying on him would be a tremendous risk.

The Browns roster is pretty solid and he couldn't get them in the playoffs. I would be so unexcited about the season if the team goes with Brissett. He is what he is, a career backup.

I was very happy about Klecko finally making the HOF. He was such a stud. I don't know how he didn't make it years ago.

I was actually pretty happy about Wilson and Sauce winning the ROTY, even more so with Wilson. When was the last time we actually had a stud offensive player. 2 including Breece.



I have such mixed feelings about the QBs.

Rodgers is a primadonna that will probably cost a lot of assets (and cap space), will likely clash with the NY media, and hold us hostage every season. I'm not really worried about him declining. He had a lot of inexperienced WRs and injuries last year. It sure would be nice to have a good QB for a change.

Carr would be an upgrade (rockaction would be an upgrade on Wilson), but scares me. Aside from football blemishes, he seems too sensitive for the NY market. I don't think he would want to come to NY anyway.

Jimmy G is brittle. I think he would be competent and definitely an upgrade. I have had my doubts about him in the past, but I think he would be good enough to help us win. Wilson playing when Jimmy G gets inevitably gets hurt gives me PTSD.

I think Tannehil would be decent if cut.

Winston? puke. I hate the guy. Seems like a real dummy. He's not a fit for our system. Hell, the Saints didn't even want him to play over Dalton (pass on him, too)

Brissett would be careful enough to maybe get us to the playoffs (if our defense remains at its current level), but probably nothing once we get there.

Minshew would be better than Wilson, but I think he would get exposed as an every day starter. I would rather keep White.

Whatever happens, happens. I'm not going to worry about it much.

My personal guess is that they try to re-work his deal to get a salary closer to $10m. Now if the Jets land a top QB then all bets are off because they will need the cap space for 2023.

Mosley: Cap hit of $21.5m. About $8-10m too high. Unfortunately, they only save $6.6m by cutting him pre-June. Post-June is another story. They can save $17m, but push $10m into the next year which might be fine because the Jets have a ton of cap space in 2024. Again, if they land Rodgers or another top QB, then they might just cut him with a post-june designation. If they don't need to pay a top QB, they will likely restructure (again). Personally, I would want to draft a replacement. Mosely is good, but not great. Lots of tackles, but not a lot of bang for the buck.

Lawson had a pretty decent year for his first year off the achilles injury. I can only imagine that he gets better. We need 4 pass rushers in this rotation system. Johnson needs more playing time. I just hope that they re-sign Huff.

I'm not overly impressed with Mosley. There are plenty of hungry young tacklers out there. The big bucks should be reserved for the guys that do the extra things like pass rush and cover well. Tacklers are a dime a dozen. Look at Singleton in Denver. Tackle monster, but somewhat useless covering RBs. Dirt cheap contract. Jaylon Smith was signed off the street. I think this is money that could be spent better elsewhere.

Yeah, the whole contact push-forward thing hurts for sure.

At least he's still a productive player(and a good leader) . A re-structure is needed for sure...and I do think they need to find a more versatile sideline to sideline LB at some point (someone who can really cover. That's where the NFL is headed) but there are bigger fish to fry this year. O-line obviously (and of course QB) and hopefully with improved safety play they can scheme around his weaknesses a little bit (since he's probably not going anywhere)

Lawson absolutely has to be re-structured. Its reasonable to think he MIGHT be better another year out from the achilles, but its not a guarantee. They absolutely have to find a way to get Huff more snaps and Johnson and Clemons both proved that they are ready for much bigger roles. Would love to keep all of them, but its a matter of resources (plus the young guys need snaps to develop). It would be a tough decision, but I can certainly see a scenario where Lawson ends up being an outright cut as they address other needs (gambling on the young kids and maybe a cheaper signing/mid round draft pick to backfill the depth spots)

There is no timeline for Tannehill. He's under contract. They could releases him whenever they want - or not at all. I doubt they would release him unless they move up in the draft to take a QB though, so that could be well after free agency.

Tannehil works MUCH better as a Post June 1 cut for Tennessee (they'd save 27M on the camp for this year, carrying 9M in dead money. Pre-June 1 its basically a 50/50 split)

Either way, zero chance they cut him until they've secured a replacement in the draft (assuming that's the way they're trying to go). Can't imagine they liked what they saw of Willis.

They're in a weird spot. Henry is obviously most of their offense and he can't have that many bellcow years left. If they're going with a rookie Qb, it almost makes sense to just go full re-build and trade Henry for whatever you can get.
