2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (3 Viewers)

It's funny I'm watching Penn State vs Northwestern today and Penn State ran the tush push 3 times on 4 downs on the 3 yard line to get the TD. The whole time the announcers are making commentary about how this is real football right here.

Hot take click bait mainstream "analysts" suck the life out of the NFL because they need content.
To be fair PSU shouldn’t even have a football team right now after harboring child predators for so long so there’s that too
By that same line of reasoning, kids should finish the 80 year jail sentences of their murderer father

They have a lot to clean up. I’m starting to get tired of the whole “a win is a win” thing we all tell ourselves after uninspired wins. They should have blown the doors off Washington and instead they have a guy who has started 5 games slicing us up. I know there’s injuries but they just look off.

Some really bad/questionable play calls too. Like, why are you throwing deep into the end zone with 1:30 left on the clock? Run swift until the clock is at 3 seconds and kick a FG. Totally unnecessarily stressful game ending.

anyone EXPECTING the Eagles to blow out Washington was either delirious or completely ignorant of recent history. Commanders always seem to play up for the Eagles

I know but there isn’t a group or player on either side of the ball that Washington is better than the birds.

Niners look really good. Eagles have a lot to work on before we get to that tough stretch. Buffalo looks harder than we thought too.

I know it's not their biggest issue, but why is it so hard to find a mediocre punter? I'm setting the bar so low but they keep limbo-ing under it.

Its way too early in the season to know who the best team in the league is. So far its been SF, its been Dallas, its been Miami, now its Buffalo. It only matters who's the best at the end of the season. We've all seen teams who peak too early. Eagles just need to keep beating whoever's on the schedule for this week. And now they're one of only 2 teams who have done that.

Good week for the offense this week. Need the defense to get healthy.

Spot on. We are 4 weeks in. So much left to play out.

Step 1. Win the NFC East
Step 2. Don't worry about it until you do step 1

their defensive line really whipped our oline today. And their offensive line did a really nice job as well.

As a disappointed Washington fan, that was still a hell of an entertaining game to watch. Congrats on your win.
That was an entertaining game! Way too close for comfort from my perspective. But, I was thinking to myself during Washington’s last drive and thinking they were gonna pull it out: “Football doesn’t get any better than this, even if they lose”.

Congrats on finally getting rid of Snyder. That team looks rejuvenated with new ownership. Y’all have some great players, both sides of the ball. I don’t know if Howell is the long-term answer, but he looked really poised today. This Eagles’ D has a way of making QBs look that way, though.

Remind me to never visit the eagles Reddit ever again. My goodness it’s awful.

Yeah its bad. I think 98% of them listened to cataldi for yrs. I went on there a few different times for stuff and they attack like a cult. The wrestling subreddit squared circle was also like that for me. Both toxic places. Most people in the Eagles reddit have zero respect for a different opinion either.

THeir ownership sucks still. The only difference is this ownership isn't a bunch of bigots and sexist. They might run a compenetent team for now but its not like Snyder left them barren on taent

The game was stressful. I really hate hate hate complaining about officiating but man, there were some very interesting officiating decisions in this game.

A few penalties I'd never seen called before:

Offsides on the offensive line, when a defender's hand is literally UNDERNEATH the football, which would usually trigger offsides and offset the penalties. This was out of a tush push play so I'm sure the haters loved that one haha.

And the grounding called on an obvious miscommunication.

Every time we play the Commandskins, some weird s*** happens.

The playcalling was also weird. Running with Gainwell on 3rd and 11. Swift is obviously the superior back, but we keep giving Kenny G opps for some reason.

I'm not gonna hate on scoring a touchdown with less than 2 minutes left when the team doesn't have timeouts. You play to win the game.

We just let the super sneaky athletic Sam Howell pick up too many plays with his legs. We had 32 pressures yesterday, with just 5 sacks. Insanity.

Onto the Rams, will be attending this one. Should be fun. First time going to Sofi for me.

Grounding call was an obvious penalty they don’t call enough. Hurts was in the pocket under pressure. Even if it was miscommunication they ruled it grounding as it wasn’t close to a reciever. If he was out of the pocket I don’t think it’s called

The offside should’ve been replay down both were off

I hated the TD with time on the clock and what made it worse was Browns taunting penalty. U don’t allow the other team time on the clock especially when you have a non aggressive defense philosophy and missing secondary personnel or guys playing that hurt. You got one of the top kickers in the game. Run as much clock possible. Elliot is automatic this point in his career. If you score a TD in that time cool but I dislike going for the hr with that much time left. Force the opponent to use all its TOs before getting the ball back

Disagree with this. You were on the WAS 28 yard line, 2nd & 4. That was a 45 yard FG for Elliot (almost automatic for him at that range). WAS had 1 TO left, at the very minimum, you do one more designed run play to make WAS burn their last TO. If you get a first down, WAS won't get the ball back. If you don't get a first down, you have the option to throw that pass (still stupid) or run the ball again and run the clock down to around 1 minute left in the game. Mahomes could have given KC a 2 score lead last night and didn't. Why? Because you don't give the ball back to the other team, anything can happen if you do. If you run the clock out taking snaps and kneel downs, the other teams offense can't hurt you. You control things.

I wasn't a fan fan of it, but I definitely wasn't "booing" a go ahead touchdown with less than 2 minutes left. But I take your point. Ideally you would have liked to do what the Chiefs did to us in the Super Bowl and just bleed it out. Jake Elliott is probably the 2nd best kicker right now in football, but still. He will miss kicks from time to time, but yeah, pretty close to as automatic as any kicker in the league right now.

I immediately looked at the time left and thought we were gonna lose. Our defense had only stopped them a couple times all game. When they scored I really thought they would go for 2. Shocked they didnt.

Same how shady slide yrs ago instead of scoring the TD I think Vs Dal? Ran the clock out didn’t allow Dal a chance to score.

If you remember I was hyping Howell up in here the last few yrs. EB is a good OC for him. Put guys with actual good coaches and you can succeed.

Jake Elliott is the only kicker in the NFL so far this season with 4 50+ yard field goals and the only kicker with 7 field goals of 40+ yards.

Jake Elliott’s 54 yard game winning FG was the longest game winning FG by an Eagle in overtime since the 1970 merger.

Jake Elliott has kicked 4 FGs from 50+ yards this season, which is already 1 FG shy of tying his career high. He has been so clutch

The Eagles have won 5 straight games after being down double digit points with Jalen Hurts under center. This is tied for the longest streak since 1950 with Joe Montana and Steve Bartkowski.
something else i heard during the game, that was the first games Eagles won while down at halftime with Hurts at QB. There couldn't have been too many of these.

Same for me on all points. I couldn’t believe they were throwing into the end zone with that much time. I told my wife that we’re going to rely on ****ty prevent defense with a banged up secondary and we’re gonna lose. Frankly we should have.

I have little doubt that they would have converted the 2pt conversion. Pretty cowardly call by Riverboat. The reason he gave after the game was he thought his team was tired. Sometimes teams just really want to give you the win I guess.

It’s a decieving stat at best. Most of the games they were down at half time were his first two seasons. The last few yrs they’ve either been tied or well ahead in games. This was the first game in a long time I remember us losing at halftime outside of last years Was game at home? Last home game Vs WAS Covid game they were tied eagles scored 10 in the 3rd the another 7 in the 4th

Head up, we are winning: 2007 NYG

One thing we know ... its not Dallas

Good points, especially the Gainwell 3rd and 11.

Lets not forget, brand new OC and DC. First year on our team and first year them being in the position (IIRC). Let that sink in

Agree. You take the TD everyday and twice on Sunday's. Only real issue was AJs taunting, though it was barely taunting. But yea, he knows better and the penalty made it much worse.
