2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (6 Viewers)

I Albert Breer Eagles are interested in trading Derek Barnett

On the B/R Locked in Eagles they brought up some interesting trade ideas. One is bills might trade CB Kair Elam who is getting less playing time do to scheme. He plays our scheme and Desai likes lean hru high CBs he could replace one of Bradberry or Slay next year as it doesn’t seem like both will be here next year.

Another name is CB Johnson of the bears who had his best Chi season under Desai.

Philly is impressive but beatable, and I say this as a Dolphin fan. Hurts seems to be a turnover machine this year.

That being said, teams, basically need to keep them from third and short/medium bc there is no answer for the Brotherly shove that I can see.

In the AFC, I think Miami (healthy), the Bills, the Chiefs, and Jax can give them a run for their money (KC's D is very impressive so far this year).

In the NFC, San Fran (assuming Purdy is not in a slump now), Detroit (i'm sure campbell wants a go at them), and some surprise BS team (ironically, the Cowboys?) could give them some issues.

I still think when push comes to shove, Buffalo is better than Miami. Also, as much as it pains me to say it, I have the Cowboys ahead of the Seahawks.
I think he's just being respectful to the Cowboys fans always lurking in this thread to complain about any mention of their team.
It's interesting how much they care about what others think. All I see on social media for the most part is them complaining about media coverage. Very insecure fanbase.

Let’s not act like we haven’t done the samething now. I remember several in this group complaining about others saying the Eagles had a weak schedule last year which they were wrong about and people acted like they were saying something about their mothers
I don't give a s*** about the media in all honesty. It's all hot takes and similar stuff to generate ratings, which is their job. Once you realize its entertainment and 100% opinions to generate ratings, a logical person would not take them seriously. BUT, with that said, that fanbase was going hard at literally anyone that talked bad about them in the media, Joy Taylor, Shady McCoy, etc.

On here, yeah, I do get perturbed when we had a great team and people, including the guy that runs this website were like "WELL YOU ARE REALLY NOT *THAT* GREAT ITS JUST EASY TEAMS YOU BEAT" or whining about the teams in the playoffs as if they didn't understand the benefits of the #1 seed.

But its all good. We got, going into this season, the hardest strength of schedule (based off last year's records which is a fallacy in and of itself, but different conversation), and the W's keep piling up just like they did last year. 25 consecutive weeks of having the best or tied for the best record in football isn't a fluke. And when you really look at it, "How do you beat the Eagles"

One of or a combination of these things:
No Jalen Hurts in the lineup
No Lane Johnson in the lineup
lose the turnover battle 0-4

That's it. That's the recipe to beating us.
My point is you are here complaining about others complaining in here about when something is mention. People should throw stones who live in glass houses. If you had said everyone needs to react better then fine but you didn’t you are singling out in individuals of other FA bases when ours does the same is my point. It looks hypocritical and you aren’t going to be taken seriously.

Personally I think most of this board acts like a bunch of middle school cliques a lot and there’s a lot of people who need to grow up. I just hope they don’t act the same way here as they do in their personal lives.
The weight of the irony in this post is too much to bear.

I call it as i see it dude. The amount of thin skinned individuals and bullying that goes on in this board is appalling at times.

I haven’t heard any mention of Suh or Linval Joseph keeping themselves in football shape, waiting for a call late season to come back and give us added DT depth.

Anyone hear anything or have any thoughts? I really liked the impact they had- especially Joseph, keeping the Dline fresh and rotating them out.

Jordan Davis might not play, hamstring issue that popped up this week. We will see. If he doesn't play today, I'd expect them to keep him out next week so he has the BYE to get back to normal.

It’s honestly pretty sad and why I don’t post as much on the board. Also the banning of posters isn’t consistent people who shouldn’t are abd those who should don’t. I think the mods give too much leanance at times. But that’s a discussion for a different day and bringing it up to the mods they get defensive about it. This is still a better board than the old NFL boards. Talk about toxic

Not sure what the infatuation is with giving Gainwell RZ touches. He freaking stinks inside the RZ. That turnover is the key to this game so far. Well that and that fact we CANNOT GET ANY PRESSURE ON FRIGGIN SAM HOWELL

made no prediction on this game, because I don't ever trust our performance against Washington. Starting to feel like those Steelers-Ravens games. throw out the records.

Just take the W and move on. Great game by Hurts

Huge game next week then the Bye. We escaped a couple scares the last couple weeks...

I mean I want to beat the Cowboys of course, but if we go into the Bye at 7-2, I'm totally good with that.

The amount of things we need to clean up, do better, etc. every game usually goes hand and hand with a loss. But this team finds a way!

I’m sure there will be more games like the Jets loss where we can’t win in spite of all the mistakes, just hope it’s not in the playoffs.

The coordinators need to keep progressing and adjust and we have to hope that this Hurts injury doesn’t get worse. If all of these regress we will have a very tough time with the remaining schedule.

I’ll take ugly wins over ugly losses every time. We’re just simply not as dominant as last year and that’s fine.

Oh, and play Penny over Gainwell for a game please

This is terrible logic. Those guys have earned their playing time Kenny hasn’t

Nick Sirianni on sticking with Kenny Gainwell after his fumble: “We’ll never lose faith in Kenny. He had a fumble. Do we take Jalen out after an INT? No. When AJ fumbled 3 games in a row last year, did we lose faith in him? No. That’d be stupid.”

I won't be. Assuming the SF score holds up, a W next week means heading to the bye 2 games up on the field. Tremendous opportunity we really need to take advantage of

Yeah sf looks like hot garbage. We win against Dallas next week and it’s huge coming into the bye and then the gauntlet.
Well we will already have been through a good portion of the gauntlet by the Bye.

SF and KC look beatable too.

Dallas looked great today though, that will be a tough game for us. 2 Weeks ago we all would have been happy with 7-2 going into the Bye.

SAM HOWELL

VS. EAGLES:

68/93 (73.1%), 687 yards (7.4 avg), 5 TD, 1 INT, 107.2 passer rating … 9 runs for 51 yards … 3 sacks taken per game

VS. EVERYBODY ELSE:

149/234 (63.7%), 1628 yards (7.0 avg), 9 TD, 8 INT, 82.7 passer rating … 20 runs for 114 yards … 5.4 sacks

I wonder if Julio will make a big difference in our red zone success rate. Having a huge guy available to high-point balls in the endzone should be a plus.

Are you at least on board that Jalen isnt just a RB now

As frustrating as that was, and the Jets loss was....
Dallas lost to AZ. KC lost to the Broncos. SF lost to pretty much everyone the last few weeks. It's the NFL, and game plans shift and change and teams matchup differently with each other. I'm happy to take the W, and on to Dallas.

That said - Dak's torched us - the last 4 times he played us they scored 40, 51, 41, 37. I don't think we've beaten him since 2019? I'm not confident until we break the streak.

For the "This QB woulda beat the Eagles in the playoffs if he was healthy" team, kinda funny looking at that now. 7-1, best team in the NFL, yet still have not played a complete game yet. Should get Cam Jurgens back just in time for a key divisional game and hoping to go 8-1 into the bye. Jalen is that dude. AJ is that dude. Reddick is that dude. Love this team.

I guess we will see what they offensive line looks like next week. If its Chuma at LT, it could be a long day for Dak. We need to key in on Lamb, everything flows in/out of what he does. We should have the offensive line to match up for what their defensive line does. There isn't anyone currently in the NFL that can cover AJ Brown, and that includes Dallas. If they go all out to try to stop him, Goedert and Devonta will eat.

Back after I was given vacation for the day from the game thread.

Good win. Defense is baffling. Dominate Miami. Get schooled by the Commies. They better fix their **** real fast before next week.

Carter and Davis need to be healthy too.

Was listening to the Go Birds Pod this morning and ESP mentioned something that is truly amazing. Think back to 2021, early/mid season. The Birds lose a laugher in Las Vegas and Sirriani gives his flower pot & roots analogy. Remember how we all felt as fans at that time. Remember how much doubt was in this town w/r/t Nick and Jalen. Sports Radio was calling for Nick to be fired and for the Birds to tank the season and go after a QB in the draft or trade for Russel Wilson.

Since that point, (when Jalen starts) Nick and Jalen have lost 3 regular season games. 3. SF just lost their last 3 games in a row; these guys have lost 3 games total since October 24, 2021. It is unreal.

Its really crazy. I think they are 28-7 in their last 35 games. This is the 26th consecutive week the Eagles have had the best record in football or tied for the best record in football.

But right now they are alone as the only 1-loss team, yet *still* have not played a full game.

Need Jalen Carter MRI to be good this morning, but I'm gonna guess he won't play v Dallas regardless of the prognosis.

Your third line has a lot to do with your second line.

The other factor is that if an opponent is constantly getting the ball out quickly to mitigate the pass rush, as WAS did yesterday, then Desai needs to adjust to have us bump the receivers at the line. Allowing quick throws to guys who are instantly open because we are playing off coverage is a recipe for giving up lots of yards and points.

Also a factor is trading for a S, with 2 days of practice and giving him 100% of the snaps. Goes to show you how dire the situation is back there. In time, they should gel more and leave less of that stuff over the field open, at least not at the rate Howell was burning us for.

Commanders, Offense coordinated by the former KC guy, had them ready. First half was Sam Howell getting the ball out in 1.93 seconds on average. So they came with a good solid plan. I also attribute this to the fact the OC for Commanders now had his 3 meeting vs the Eagles in the last 9 games, counting the Super Bowl. He definitely is familiar with the defensive style and kudos to him for that.

I'll take the W though naturally.

Jalen Hurts, in his first 42 starts: 30-12 record. Dude just knows how to win.

Hurts is a natural leader in a way his predecessor definitely was not, as much as a certain regular in this thread does not want to hear that.

ETA: And in a way that McNabb was not either. Does the TO blowup happen if McNabb is the same caliber of leader as Hurts? I think not.

Agree. Everyone knew this. Even coming into the league with all the questions about his ceiling, the one thing that was never questioned was his leadership. He's accountable and guys just follow him. It has such a contagious effect on the whole team. Guys about to retire want to play longer, guys about to sign FA deals sign for cheaper, FA's come here over other teams. Even the in season "mercenaries" like Suh and Joseph last year rave about his leadership. It really is so refreshing b/c Wentz was such a turd when it came to this intangible.
