2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (9 Viewers)

Hurts has lost like 3 games in 2 years. What more do you want

Wins are great SB wins are what matter the most hurts can become the winningest SB in Eagles history for all I care and beat every record the team has. But if he doesn’t ant any SBs wins after all of that it’s really just hallow stats
Talk to us about Dak

It’s one of your favorite subjects. Dak is your future. It’s what happens when a Quarterback relies on their legs from pop Warner to college.

When they can’t /won’t run anymore then they all turn into pumpkins.

Dak, RGIII, Cam, Vick,…..

In all seriousness, this should be a bloodbath. Between Micah talking too much, the Cowboys being what they always are, flash and finesse, I fully expect you guys to dominate.

If you run you will win, bigly. If you try to get cute it could be interesting.

Good luck fellas! It’s Christmas in November, you get your two favorite teams playing eachother!

How do you decide who you want to win? ;)

We will try to get cute. I expect 60 Hurts pass attempts and 2 carries by swift into the 4th quarter.

What are the chances that Howie flips Barnett for picks or a LB? I think there’s a good chance he’s got something up his sleeve.
A conditional 7th for Barnett is probably the best we can get, but trading Street might mean it’s more likely Barnett sticks around now. Not very many options left for that 5th/6th DE to give you 10-12 snaps and knows the system.

This

Dallas has no chance in this game

Lay the points, count your money
You know full well the Eagles like to get stupid when they play the Cowboys. Like forgetting that you can run the ball and such.

if you make the trip to Detroit in January, I'd recommend staying at The Atheneum All Suite Hotel.

For dinner, try Fishbone's. The jambalaya or lobster mac n cheese are both good, but send a note back to the chef and tell him you're gonna need that Whiskey Chicken (it's off menu but just say Bobby sent you.)

See ya there, fellas.

Any recommendations for our trip to Las Vegas in February?

I’m Bible believing Jesus follower, have never been to the city. But we’re looking forward to it.

New wifey has a friend (who I consider a friend now) who lives in Philly. Every week, without fail, she wishes me luck & tells me she’s rooting for the Lions. I reply IDC, I’m a one-team man who only roots for Detroit and whoever is playing the Packers.

We are not elite, we have sooooo much to clean up (every week.) We always leave meat on the bone.

But belief is powerful. Coach Campbell has them believing in themselves and their teammates. For LITERALLY the first time in my life, anything is possible.

My take on the matchup coming up:

Just bc Lane Johnson is Micah Parsons' daddy usually, doesn't mean he will always keep custody. You gotta keep proving your worth to your son and show him how life is done. I don't think Lane Johnson has a podcast, but we all know his son Micah does. Maybe its some son-fatherly admiration in Micah stating the Eagles are the most talented team. This is the one guy we must stop b/c if Dad looks the other way, you know the son sometimes will create mischief. This is a key matchup that Lane usually wins, gotta keep that going.

AJ Brown vs Daron Bland. The Cowboys seem to be good at finding the CBs. Bland, a 5th rounder is having an all pro season, that is not deniable. Leads the league in passer rating allowed, pick 6s and a few other key DB stats. But I honestly don't think anyone can cover AJ Brown, and Hurts is definitely going to throw it his way. Some folks on here don't think the fact AJ has 125+ yards in 6 straight games actually is or should be a record, but regardless of where you stand on those semantics, no one can deny that this guy is a top 2 WR right now, and IMO personal biased opinion, but also probably factual, he's the most complete WR in the game. Size/speed freak with amazing ball skills, can beat you at every single level in the passing game and oh yeah, a top blocking WR too.

OL vs DL - The Cowboys have some guys that are having really good seasons, but the guy I think that stands out is Osa Odighizuwa. He is, I believe the 2nd highest graded DT in the entire NFL (behind Jalen Carter) and we must have a plan for him. Cam Jurgens probably will be back b/c he traveled with the team and that is a key. We have the guys to stop/slow him down but he is uber-quick and could have an impact.

DL vs OL - I think this is where the game will be won or lost. The last game we played, the QB was getting the ball out consistently under 2 seconds, and that really mitigated the pass rush most of the game. The Commanders had given up the most sacks by far, but we only got 1 on them last week. Eric Bienemy really had a good game plan and Howell was just too quick. I don't think that is Dak's game. He has a tendency to hold onto the ball longer sometimes looking for the play. My guess is we get to him often, possibly forcing a turnover or 2. Their O line is not great, Tyron Smith is a walking Questionable Tag, and the depth is a bunch of JAGS. With that said, its not a given, so we must be relentless. Jalen Carter had an MRI on his back, but should play. If he plays the whole game, it will be trouble for Dallas. His impact on the entire defensive line when he is in the game cannot be understated, he changes the whole thing. Sweat/Reddick are both having great seasons (Just as many sacks as the great Micah Parsons)

Secondary vs Passing Weapons. The other key to this game is limiting CD Lamb. Our CBs are not having nearly as great a season as last year and pretty much their entire offense flows thru Lamb. They put him more in the X last game than I think maybe he played all season as he typically is in the slot, so that might revert to this b/c our slot CB is like the 4th guy we have had there this season. Not ideal. I do think he will get his plays but as long as we slow down the other guys, we have a great shot at winning. If we do sort of limit and keep CD below 70 yards, I think its a wrap.

In the end I'm thinking the crowd will be crazy and wild and loud, a typical Eagles crowd. Feel sorry for any one of the guys that listen to Parsons to try to "come make it a home game for Dallas" -

31-23 final score prediction. The offense is humming, the defense is "meh" a lot of games, but we have held a lot of our opponents to under 20 points, sans Commanders lol.

Should be fun!

For the "This QB woulda beat the Eagles in the playoffs if he was healthy" team, kinda funny looking at that now. 7-1, best team in the NFL, yet still have not played a complete game yet. Should get Cam Jurgens back just in time for a key divisional game and hoping to go 8-1 into the bye. Jalen is that dude. AJ is that dude. Reddick is that dude. Love this team.
I don’t think we should be sniffing ourselves too much. We lost a game we should’ve won Vs the jets and almost gave away another with the Sake commanders we almost lost too again today. We should be worrying about all our own issues right now.
We are the only 1 loss team. Every team has flaws, I'd like to hear who you got ahead of us. I'm not worried about anyone but ourselves b/c for the most part the only way to beat us is either

1. No Jalen
2. No Lane
3. Lose the turnover margin 0-4

Thats it. Thats the blue print.

But let me hear who you got ahead of us please. I'm sniffing myself and I smell like 7 wins.

Bills with their 3 losses?
Cowboys with their loss to the Cardinals giving them their only win?
Chiefs who just looked terrible against the Broncos?
Dolphins who we just beat?
Niners who have lost 3 games in a row and Purdy sort of looking like an OK average starter, but his arm strength not being where it needs to be to make the throws his brain thinks he can?
Any given Sunday any team can win this year. You beat the Eagles by winning TOP, stopping the run and blitzing DBS at Hurts and making him roll out to his left with no room to run.

You are acting like we are somehow invincible. We’re a very flawed 7-1 team in fact I think last year I had less questions about the team then I have this year. Injuries are becoming a concern, we aren’t getting TOs or to the QB like we did last year, and the offense for the most part has been touch and go.

Yeah we beat mia but their wins this year have been against combine opponents with a .500 record. I think Dal lost that fake taking ARz too lightly. They seemed to get s little too cocky. KC battled the snow and Mahomes being sick first time KC lost to Den in 16 games last win Manning was the QB. We lost to the jets this year we’ve never lost too. This year I wouldn’t be super used with how the leagues gone we get a first round bye and then lose our playoff game. At the same time I wouldn’t be surprised if we made the SB. That’s a lot of possibilities right now.
Cool. I'll wait for your list of teams you personally think are better than the Eagles. You have this uncanny ability to "Eagles shoulda lost" our games and "That team shoulda won" for other teams.

History on when Manning Played, or how many rings the Cowboys have or what happened when Wentz or McNabb were here or any other weird historical stuff you bring up is irrelevant to this season.

I'm on record saying we are the best team in the NFL, and I also stated that the other teams definitely have their flaws too. Until I see your list, this is just hot air/practice for your debating skills.

Should in meaning the way we played we should’ve lost and didn’t really deserve the win more like the other team just wasn’t good enough to execute on our mistakes.

You and others here really need to get thicker skin. Sorry not everyone is blowing rainbows and sun shine about the team up your *** every day
LOL dude you keep saying we need thicker skin. I'm not sure what you are referring to. I'm just saying your logic doesn't add up. It doesn't offend me it puzzles me. Again, and I'll keep repeating it, if you think the Eagles "ain't all that" or whatever, please let me know your list of the teams better than ours. For as much as you like discussing and writing dissertations on here, you sure are avoiding this simple discussion.

Who do you have, right now, heading into week 9 as the Top 5 NFL teams, especially which ones above the Eagles? Shouldn't be hard.

Thanks

Not to pile on, but I think this is the issue most of us have. Bad faith arguments and confirmation bias. I've said before, he's more interested in showing his opinion/prediction was correct than anything else and puts on blinders to ensure he is.

For the Eagles, the team has warts, no doubt. Every team does. There are no dominant teams in the NFL. It's a week to week league. However, the Eagles have fewer warts than most right now, maybe even the fewest. but again that could change in a week if more injuries hit.

Being completely objective, it’s very hard to know who both these teams are.

-You guys are full marks for your record, but you have hardly played your best ball yet. Turnovers and giving up a ton vs. the pass. Start fast and this will get ugly for Dallas.

-Dallas is totally unpredictable and non physical. They are mentally fragile and 3 bad plays from a blowout weekly. They remain poorly coached and predictable.

History tells me this will be a competitive game, likely high scoring and fun to watch.

Prediction to follow later in the week.

Lot of action today for trades. IMO Howie definitely makes a trade today. The magnitude of it, I'm not sure. Would like to see Derek Barnett shipped out to maybe MN for Hicks? Would be a small/minor move that would upgrade our LB room.

With that said, I guess Jaylon Johnson, CB, Bears requested a trade as well. We just made a draft day deal with the Bears involving Jalen Carter and Desai coached him in Chicago, so there is some familiarity there. This would be an enormous move, but I'm just talking I have no sources that this is in play besides Johnson requesting the trade.

Always appreciate your well thought out posts Bankerguy! You bring some objectivity to our discussions and the Cowboys thread with zero malice or trolling.

Absolutely on the edge of my seat, waiting for the deadline. Howie is gonna do something. Dropping Street and re-working Byard’s contract show they’re actively working on something. I’m crossing my fingers for Johnson- I think Howie is really pressing for this and I’m hearing some rumblings on this one.

Russini, who called the Byard tade, said earlier they’re looking at LB, and there’s been a lot of talk about another EDGE. Let’s go, Howie!!!

You know he's gotta be ready to get his name in the headlines locally after the Sixers just dumped Harden (finally).

Howie, IMO, has singlehandedly made the NFL trade deadline a thing like it is in MLB and NBA. There is a distinct "Before Howie" and "Post Howie" era of NFL trades, especially for players.

Apologies, if already mentioned.

The Bears have given his agent permission to seek a trade. Gotta think Philly is in the first 3 phone calls.

I really like what they are doing in Det and ex Azalone was a favorite of mine to watch at Florida for yrs. Really hoping when he left NO Philly picked him up. Really great guy and person too

Stop engaging the troll who thinks the 2022-23 version of Nick Foles would have been an improvement over Hurts in the Super Bowl. There's no more value in that than there is in engaging the Cowboys trolls.
Weird how we have an "Eagles fan" that is a troll to us, just so weird. I try to understand but I mean, I can't understand irrational crazy people so good call.
im not a troll at all I just don’t look at things with green and grey colored glasses

Back after I was given vacation for the day from the game thread.

Good win. Defense is baffling. Dominate Miami. Get schooled by the Commies. They better fix their **** real fast before next week.

Carter and Davis need to be healthy too.
Your third line has a lot to do with your second line.

The other factor is that if an opponent is constantly getting the ball out quickly to mitigate the pass rush, as WAS did yesterday, then Desai needs to adjust to have us bump the receivers at the line. Allowing quick throws to guys who are instantly open because we are playing off coverage is a recipe for giving up lots of yards and points.
Also a factor is trading for a S, with 2 days of practice and giving him 100% of the snaps. Goes to show you how dire the situation is back there. In time, they should gel more and leave less of that stuff over the field open, at least not at the rate Howell was burning us for.

Commanders, Offense coordinated by the former KC guy, had them ready. First half was Sam Howell getting the ball out in 1.93 seconds on average. So they came with a good solid plan. I also attribute this to the fact the OC for Commanders now had his 3 meeting vs the Eagles in the last 9 games, counting the Super Bowl. He definitely is familiar with the defensive style and kudos to him for that.

I'll take the W though naturally.

Jalen Hurts, in his first 42 starts: 30-12 record. Dude just knows how to win.
Hurts is a natural leader in a way his predecessor definitely was not, as much as a certain regular in this thread does not want to hear that.
Agree. Everyone knew this. Even coming into the league with all the questions about his ceiling, the one thing that was never questioned was his leadership. He's accountable and guys just follow him. It has such a contagious effect on the whole team. Guys about to retire want to play longer, guys about to sign FA deals sign for cheaper, FA's come here over other teams. Even the in season "mercenaries" like Suh and Joseph last year rave about his leadership. It really is so refreshing b/c Wentz was such a turd when it came to this intangible.

I won’t deny Wentz had issues here but most of that team hired mercenaries were all about themselves. It was just a **** lockerroom to be in. You had coaches who were too buddy buddy with certain players and besides Kelce, Cox, Lane and Graham and Jenkins there was really no leaders especially young. You had clowns like Alshon running to people in the media about his issues etc. Doug had zero control on accountability for anyone

If it doesn’t offend you why are you crying about it? Seriously if it wasn’t that important you’d say whatever and move on. You keep referencing other things other fans say about soft schedule, rush push etc. you and others seem obsessed with what others think about our team. It’s getting beyond unhealthy.

Thanks
If it doesn’t offend you why are you crying about it? Seriously if it wasn’t that important you’d say whatever and move on. You keep referencing other things other fans say about soft schedule, rush push etc. you and others seem obsessed with what others think about our team. It’s getting beyond unhealthy.
How am I mentioning what other people say "Crying about it" I'm genuinely curious. Aren't you the guy that holds onto his opinions in the face of proof on your predictions, etc like all the time. Aren't you STILL not sold on Jalen Hurts, despite of all the success he has had as an Eagles QB.

Me mentioning what other people said about our team, the Tush Push, the schedule is just simply showing they were wrong about their opinion. All my stuff is out there broski, feel free to show me where I "cry about" stuff.

How's that list of top 5 teams or teams better than the Eagles coming btw? You keep interacting with me but somehow brushing past this part. Are you concerned that others might disagree with you causing you to "cry about it"

Be bold! This is a message board for crying out loud, no one is going to take your posting privileges away over a bad take or opinion! What say you!?

WSH took that loss so hard, they gave up on this season and went into full-on “sell” mode.

Damn! I do NOT like the thought of Chase Young on the 49ers. 😡

He's always hurt. If he's still healthy by December I'll be surprised.
Mailata just ain't his lunch last week too. And the Commanders (as of last week at least) have a good DL too. I remember Jalen having basically all day back there once again.

Montez Sweat is a much better player. Young isn't even better than Derek Barnett. That should tell you something. Dude is living off his draft status and rookie season. Been a shell since then.

Hopeful Dallas can force an early turnover and capitalize. If the Eagles pound the rock early, your interior line should bulldoze through anyone we have in the middle of the formation.

Cowboys need big games from our edge rushers, CB's and allow us to stack the box to stop the run but not likely.

Yeah, I see the point both of you are putting out. But adding him to a Dline that already has Bosa, Hargraves, Armstead is a huge signing for them.

Just have to hope Kyle’s too stubborn to fire Wilks and he continues to run that 425 defense he loves so much.

I know Mazi Smith was a bit of a reach, but is he really not helping out at all in the interior for run defense??
