2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (4 Viewers)

I loved the Hurts designed runs that turned into the quarterback version of the Electric Slide mixed with the Chicken Dance.

I'm going to see if I can book him for an upcoming wedding I have to go to.

They deserved to get Booed.
No, they deserved to lose. And they did.
The fans deserved to suffer through that debacle because from the very first drive they were already not supporting their team. This isn’t “you get what you pay for” this is “you get what you give.”
This is week five of literal garbage being displayed by the best team in football six weeks ago. They deserved to lose and they deserved to get booed. From the very first drive. Because I saw the ineptitude that was laid bare 30 seconds into the game and masochistically continued to watch until the bitter end. How could you support this team? There’s no drive. There’s no heart. They deserve to be booed because they have fallen short of our expectations. Expectations that they set last year and didn’t carry thru this year. Don’t blame the fans, blame the team that let us all down.
I know he’s a hero in this town but a lot of the blame goes to Howie IMO. He turned the defense over with unproven young guys and aging veterans and assigned a rookie D coordinator to lead it. I don’t buy into this lack of heart. It’s not the same team as last year at all (especially on D).

Also a rookie OC. pretty ballsy and I hope.it shows that experience matters esp with coaching

Has to be clickbait speculation, no?

Can’t see how they can rest anyone with the division title on the line and the team really struggling, but I’m not that close to the situation.
Nobody wants to face the Giants or Jets in New Jersey and it has nothing to do with the teams.

The field stinks for sure, but I can't imagine any team deciding to sit their starters based on that with the division title up for grabs.

Anybody who's borderline health wise will sit. But otherwise it should be full go. Unless they look up at the scoreboard and see Dal 38 Was 3 in the 3rd, then I would hope Jalen and other key players get pulled.

That's the way I would envision it - guys that are iffy health wise probably don't play and they'll be scoreboard watching.

Definitely- I was just joking around. They don’t have the luxury of benching people.

They 100% have not shown effort the last few weeks so they deserve it. If you want to p**syfoot around the issues join titans

AJ spoke to the media today.

As an outsider, what is Brown angry about?
Is it about volume for him? His numbers indicate otherwise.

I certainly don’t follow as closely as you guys. Just looking to understand.
He stated that he was frustrated at the losing and the vibe. He however made it clear that he's not mad at the coaches and went out of his way to defend siriani and Johnson. Whether that's him cooling down a few days and saying the right things or if he really means it who knows but him finally speaking seems to have relaxed the players from what the reporters are saying.

It also seems as if the stupid things Sirianni is saying is him covering for the players too which is good.

Am I crazy? Didn't Dallas bench some of their starters last year with the possibility of winning the division. I recall the Eagles played the Giants in the final week of the year and going into that game 1 up with 1 game to go. If Dallas won their game and the Eagles (somehow) lost their game, Dallas would have won the division but they decided that there was no way that the Eagles were going to lose and decided to bench a lot of their starters at varying points in the game and lost to Washington.

Yes. The deep ball in the Seattle game on the final play was apparently and audible between Jalen and AJ. Nick covered for it with the looking for a penalty nonsense.

Honestly, as someone who watches every Birds game at least twice, I think he is frankly angry about losing. I don't think its about him getting his and I don't think he is going to be doing situps in his driveway any time soon. I think he's frustrated with the offensive play calling and the "defense" giving up the lead late in games.

I wish more of our guys would get angry about it. Then maybe something would change.

This is correct, we did.

I’m not sure what the titans have to do with any of this but my point is simple. You can have an honest discourse about the crummy state of the team and what you hope they’ll improve without ceasing to be a fan.
oldmanhawkins is exactly right about Philly fans.
Why because we care?
I care. But I also can generally control my emotions. Stop using “passion” to excuse this irrational behavior. It’s a bad look. Have we forgotten trea turner already? It was the support we gave that got him turned around, not the boos.

I know he has regressed (mainly due to poor coaching), but I am legit surprised Hurts didn't make the pro bowl and Devonta Smith definitely should have made it.

Yeah. Also I believe Britain Covey is statistically the best returner this year; Jake Elliot as well. My guess is if we were still the 1 seed a few more of these guys would have made it.

An interesting note, maybe. Jalen Hurts is ranked 6th overall among QBs in the PFF grading system, while D'Andre Swift rates 42nd overall and about 37th among RBs with his rushing grade. Quite the disparity, and interesting when viewed in light of the Pro Bowl selections.

Hurts numbers are better than Stafford with the rushing
Stafford took a borderline team to the playoffs, Hurts took a team coming off a trip to the super bowl and that was 10-1 to likely a wild card spot and has their own fans questioning if the coach needs to be fired. Hurts running is a factor but it's 150 yards less then last year and while the TD's remain the same I'd be interested to hear how many are one yard tush pushes. Maybe it is because it is what the media shows but last year it seemed he had more 5 or 6 yard TD runs, this year it seems they get stopped at the one all the time and he gets the 1 yard tush push that on 99% of other teams is 1 yard TD run for the RB.

You can honestly make a case for either but no doubt the way the Eagles have played the last 5 weeks weighs in a toss up selection.

But Elliott is a great kicker and has had a great year. I suppose it's Aubrey's perfect record of made field goals and his nine of nine beyond fifty that give him the nod over Elliott, who is excellent in his own right, but has missed more kicks with fewer chances.

Elliott is seven of eight from beyond fifty, which is just awesome.

He hit a 55 yarder in the rain/wind to help us beat the bills. He's been one of the only consistent players on this team

Similarly, think of all the good kickers who played in the AFC but never got a Pro Bowl nod because of Justin Tucker.

What is there to say about Justin Tucker other than he's cooler than me and I'd have to give him that.

On a side note, I remember when Elliott was kicking for Memphis. He drilled like two fifty-five yarders in a bowl game. Just threaded them. I was like, "Holy ****. There's somebody's NFL kicker!" The only thing stopped Elliott from being so great is Philly's use of analytics in deciding whether to go for it or not when they possess the ball in the opponent's territory from the thirty-five to forty-five yard range. As of a few years ago, they were going for it more than most other teams and Elliott didn't get to kick as much given that.

eta* full circle—same with the Ravens and Tucker.

Meanwhile the Dallas coach loves his kickers, so results do follow.

I mean we can be another fanbase that doesn’t care but we aren’t. We don’t take players for poor effort and just give a “atta boy we’ll get em next time”. No we demand players to play hard for us that’s a simple ask.

I care. But I also can generally control my emotions. Stop using “passion” to excuse this irrational behavior. It’s a bad look. Have we forgotten trea turner already? It was the support we gave that got him turned around, not the boos.

No one here is threatening players or anything. The people who do aren’t real fans. I just call then catalidiots. Neanderthals who think they know stuff but really don’t. Those people are the idiots who think they need to “protect our rep” but use it as an excuse to act like a clown. More and more fans are stepping up these days to stop that behavior.

All we’re asking for is effort.

Who cares about the pro bowl. If our guys are playing in that it just means we failed the season. Your goal is not to be in a pro bowl but playing week after in the Super Bowl.

Most of his rushing tds are from the 1. There’d maybe 2 tds he’s had outside of the 5 and one was the GW vs Buff

I’m sure Hurts being 2nd in turnovers doesn’t help either

I've been in a funk re. this team since that last loss. Never been so disapointed in my team, even when they clearly stunk and were cruising towards a top 10 pick.

Here's the thing...going into the SF game, they had a top ten defense. We all saw some warts, but they were stuffing the run, and generating just enough pressure to make teams uncomfortable. They hadn't blown anybody out, but sported wins against Buffalo, Miami, Dallas, and KC. BAD teams don't win all those games. Heck, average teams would be lucky to win 1 or 2 of them. This wasn't a bad team. Injuries haven't derailed them...making this one of the most inexplicable falls I can remember in a long time in the NFL. It starts with that D line.

That playing surface is criminal.
