2023 Philadelphia Eagles - The big roster move we were waiting for...new practice squad punter! (1 Viewer)

Eagles inactives vs. Vikings:

Kenny Gainwell
James Bradberry
Reed Blankenship
Tanner McKee
Tyler Steen
Moro Ojomo
Albert Okwuegbunam

Fletcher Cox (ribs), Rashaad Penny are active

You have to figure before that long drive, Nick went over to BJ and said "WTF are you doing? Run the ****ing ball."

So 2-0 and haven't played their best yet. One of them in bad weather against BB in NE and then a quick turnaround with multiple starters out. I'll take it. The season's a marathon.

If Hurts and the passing game still looks out of synch next week, I'll start to wonder. Till then we need to relax while the new OC and the QB get on the same page. Hurts just doesn't look comfortable.

I feel like we suck but we’re 2-0.

Something is clearly not clicking with the offense. Whatever it is, they need to fix it and address it. There’s too much talent to not ball out.

On the bright side, our D-line and O-line are pretty solid.

Secondary..yikes. Why wasn’t this addressed in the off-season?

This game feels trappy

Howso? They have a non-division road game next week @TB. They aren't looking ahead and it's not like they're taking MIN lightly, they made the playoffs.

I think playing so poorly on Sunday was a good thing. I think the Eagles will want to come out and show they deserve to be in the conversation as best team in the NFC.
Ya I just worry with all the injuries, looking so flat, and Min being pissed, that they might come out strong.

I do agree though that game 1 looking rough is going to pump up and motivate the team.

This Viking team doesn't get pissed, they are your average ho hum NFL team who got extremely lucky in one score games last year and now regression is coming for revenge.

Plus it isn't like the Eagles rolled last week, they knew they were sloppy and got away with it. They won't do it again. Eagles by 17 or more.
Not seeing a big blowout, but I could see a solid win with Eagles in control most of the game. Cousins is gonna put up some big yards to Jefferson and I could see the Vikings scoring 24 or so. But I also think the eagles are gonna look a lot better on offense, scoring 27-30 on their own with a good chance of a defensive score...Cousins will get lots of yards and some points but he's gonna get a lot of pressure too and a defensive score is very possible.

Eagles 35 -26
I'd say I nailed this

We are 2-0 because the teams beat beat beat them selves. We’re very lucky right now

Yep pretty close. I might have been the only one to pick Minny to cover. Without some of those turnovers, we could have lost this game. Need to be better next week... trip to florida will be good for them I think. I think we get it together next week.

Is it too soon so say the OC sucks?

Something is clearly off.
I mean, he’s sucked so far but definitely too soon to say that he will always suck

I was encouraged by the way he changed it up a couple different times. Hell we 2-0
agreed...he found what worked and then went there repeatedly. Offense has been a little off, HUrts has been a little off....and they've still managed to score a soldi number of points. I'm happy

The vikes suck but the one thing they can do is pass the ball. I'm not that worried

I think both D's they faced sold out to protect the deep ball. The best way to combat that is to run the ball. The Eagles didn't realize it until halfway thru last nights game. Hurts has missed a couple of reads and seems to have regressed a little in regards to holding onto the ball/trying to hero ball it a bit when the pocket starts blowing up. This O will be fine when they tighten a couple of screws.....but some of the PHI players, some fans and the league punditry in general are going to have to temper expectations in regards to this teams Offensive explosiveness if teams continue to insist to try and mitigate PHI's long passing game.

yeah, seems like 1st world problems people being a bit upset with the team being 2-0. Sure they can be a bit better, and i think we can have some confidence that they will get a bit better.

the way i am looking at this one, is how did they do from week 1 to week 2. Last week Hurts seemed to tuck and run kind of quick, and last night he seemed to correct that and stay in the pocket longer going through his progressions.

all in all, i get that Eagles' fans don't need to go around and yell at other fanbases about how Eagles will be SB champs, but i also don't think we should be so down about the team yet, Remembering the regular season last year, there were a few down games (was, Hou, Indy, etc.) and they turned out just fine. outside of Cowpokes and 9'ers all of the other favorites for the SB have not looked awesome either.

Swift was a steal for a 4th rd pick.
We’ll see how long he can last…

That is the case with any RB. Bottom line is when on the field Swift produces at a high level. 5.2 career per rush and almost 8 yards career per catch. I was pissed when Lions traded him because he is only making 1.7 this season, more pissed it was to Philly. Can`t have enough RB depth.

2-0. They look super rusty and I'm starting to be concerned with the OC and DC. They have a couple of weeks to right the ship, but good teams find ways to win even in the face of poor play/play calling/etc. They should beat the Bucs and Washington traveling to Rams is rough but by then I expect them to be rolling. I had concerns about NYJ game but with no Rodgers I feel much better. Point is, with the team playing at ~65-70% of their potential they should be 6-0 going into the gauntlet of Miami, Washington, Dallas, KC, Bills, niners, Dallas. That is an absolutely ****ed part of the schedule and I really hope the offense figures out what they want to be by week 7. Firing on all cylinders I could see them going 4-3 or 3-4 over that 7 week stretch. If they are still playing like they have the last two games we could play ourselves right out of a divisional win.

Agree here. The OC playcalling and offense in general looks not on the same page. At some point it appeared they were just like "well they can't stop us running tonight" and went back to some 2021 roots when we just pounded teams. I can't say I hate this philosophy. Letting everyone pass all over us isn't the greatest feeling though, but wins are wins. Onto TB! We should have a test on offense against them as their Defense appears to be legit.

Nice win, appreciate you guys putting the frauds at 2-0. 0-2.

The Detroit revenge tour:
  • this week Seattle
  • Wk 4 @ FTP
  • Wk 5 Panthers
  • Wk 7 @ Ravens
  • Wk 12 FTP (Thanksgiving)
  • Wk 13 @ Saints
  • Wk 15 Broncos
  • Wk 16 @ Frauds
  • Wk 17 @ ‘boys
  • Wk 18 Frauds
  • Divisional Rd: You or SF
  • NFCCG: SF or You
Like Ceedy said after we beat the Chiefs, “That get back is a MFer”

Love what Howie has built, you guys are where we want to be. Strong everywhere except the back end, and I think you’ll get that worked out. Really want to see Iggles/Lions in the playoffs - long ways to go for both squads but more than any other team, you’re in the way of where we want to go.

GL ROS

P.S. Happy for Swift, he’s a good kid & super talented. Will always be a Slay Jr fan. Want nothing but good things for Stafford, Hock and Jamaal unless they’re playing us. I only root for one team, there’s no split allegiance, but all those guys are good people I want to see succeed when they’re playing other teams.

agree about our OC not being great, but want to add let's not overlook the fact that Flores game planned the heck out of their side and did great for them. he had Hurts confused for that entire first quarter. kudos to him.

If you didn't catch the post game interview with Hurts & Kelce, Kelce made a point that every team watched the Eagles film since last season and are planning to throw the kitchen sink at them defensively since we were one of the most explosive offenses last year. First half of last night was exactly that and Flores won. Hurts went on in the same interview saying they want to be explosive and do the things they know how, but that leaning on the run game and pivoting away from something that isn't working is part of their growth. Loved this answer, though I am paraphrasing and adding my flavor to what he actually said.

this also means Swift is RB1 as long as he's upright and Gainwell will be sure to give fake football team owners heartburns. On to Monday Night!

Thoughts from my view yesterday a few rows from the Eagles bench and the blue tent:
  • Pre game, when the trained bald eagle circled the stadium and landed on the field, Jordan Davis' eyes and face were lit up like something I haven't seen since my kids believed in Santa. He thought it was the coolest thing he ever saw.
  • Also, Connor Barwin (on the sidelines as an assistant) was jaw-droppingly star struck by Michael Buffer opening things with his "Let's get ready to rumble" thing.
  • There were multiple times when the blue tent had a line to get in, like a Saturday night at Studio 54 in the 70's. 2 games in 4 days to start the year will do that.
  • Maddox looked like he had a broken collarbone or bad shoulder labrum tear, the way his arm was hanging as he walked by toward the locker room. Like, an 8-12 week type thing, at least.
  • The AJ/Hurts/Nick conversation didn't look like anything "dramatic" in real-time and within the context of all the other things going on on the sideline.

Thanks. I lost a good work buddy last year (F cancer) who was from Michigan and was huge Michigan State and Lions fan. I was thinking of him when the Lions beat the Chiefs last week. He would have been so happy. The Lions are building something. Should be a good season.

nice seats! oh boy, we're gonna need to start signing some fresh bodies.

Any link to this? Would love to see it haha

When I made my record predictions this year I said that I think the Eagles would have some regression this year. There are fortunate with health last year, overall, easier schedule and had some bounces go their way. Considering the QB hasn’t had two yrs a consistent yrs of top play, this should not be shocking to people

Personal note, Connor Barwin lives down the street from me. I'm on the 1100 block, he's on the 1300 block. Also, Jason Kelce used to come into our rec center with his family. Not sure they live in my neighborhood anymore. That is all.

Agree. 2-0 with this start is all we can ask for.

We need to get healthy and peak at the playoffs
