2023 Philadelphia Eagles - We”re officially in “94 Kotite 7 straight losses collapse territory. (21 Viewers)

Schedule should get interesting. Weeks 4 and 6 are cupcakes but 5 is tougher than anticipated and 7

ETA - actually I can’t recall a non-playoff game that I’ve been more excited for than the Eagles week 7 Sunday night matchup (assuming both offenses are full strength)

We get Washington at home this weekend. After that, our next 4 home games are:

Miami
Dallas
Buffalo
San Fran

Tua needs to stay healthy. Something he hasn't been able to do.

Surprisingly, my SF tickets haven't sold yet. I thought that game would be a hot commodity.

I want him to stay healthy all year. I want to see what that team can do in a tough AFC.

There is no way they are drafting a DT in the 1st rd. They've spent Jordan Davis 1st rd draft capital and Milton Williams 3rd rder the past few years. If anything, they're drafting a CB.

LOL.

2022 traded a 1st for Wide Receiver AJ Brown
2021 1st - Wide Receiver DeVonta Smith
2020 1st - Wide Receiver Jalen Reagor
2019 2nd - Wide Receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside

That's 3 1sts and a 2nd on one position in four straight drafts. If a DT is the #1 player on the board at 10 the Eagles will take a DT.
To be fair, Whiteside and Reagor were terrible picks resulting in them having to use 2 MORE picks on WR
True. Reminds me of the Lions just going to the well at WR until the eventually landed Calvin Johnson.

With that said, the Eagles have no depth at DT behind Williams, who is not really proven yet and Davis, who also is not proven yet. Cox won't be back next year. Pretty sure the Saints guy we just signed is a JAG, but maybe a rotation guy at best. No chance in hell, IMO, that Davis is *off* the Eagles board and no chance in hell he falls to the 2nd round. Drew Rosenhaus isn't an idiot, if he said "no meetings with teams outside the top 10" he definitely knows his guy will go high.

Carter reminds me of Warren Sapp, with both how dominant he is, the potential of the on field stuff and the potential off field stuff. During his career Sapp proved to be at least not a total turd. Once he retired, different story.

I really want this guy on the team. Red flags, what have you, IMO, the Eagles have a great locker room full of leaders that will be able to keep a guy like this in check while also coaching him up, showing him the tricks of the trade. Heck, even he could get into legal racing if he wants, a big thing Fletcher Cox does.
In 1995 Warren Sapp was the best defensive player in the draft and tested positive for marijuana at the combine. As a result, 11 teams passed on him, including the Eagles, who traded up to #7 for ... Mike Mamula.

Carter is the franchise's atonement for that.

Here’s a random thought the morning after: I hopp every team decides to induct a player into their Ring of Fame the day we’re playing them. That’s working out pretty well for us.

Also, in the game thread, some Hurts haters were talking about the Zaccheus catch as a lucky fluke- nothing could be further from the truth. Hurts read Bowles coverage perfectly, showed patience waiting for Zaccheus to get open trusting his protection, and not taking the open underneath route to Goedert knowing it wouldn’t get the 1st. He led Zaccheus open with a perfectly thrown timing ball, that dissected the Quarter/Quarter/Half zone and dropped it in a bucket where only Olamide could make the play.

Hurts was far from perfect last night, but that play shows he understands the game at an elite level and has all the physical assets to make game-winning plays. Like him or not, he’s the franchise- and honestly the only way it makes sense not to like him is if you root for another team.

Yeah, that was his best throw of the night. Perfect location and he stood in the pocket and took a hit.

Exactly. The in game thread had a bunch of people (including a certain Eagles fan) calling that a bad throw. FFS it couldn't have been a better pass. Waited for the play to develop and then floated it right over the defenders' grasp and into a pocket where only OZ could catch it. SMH at the haters. Jalen did plenty to warrant criticism last night, but dude, that pass was a thing of beauty.

For some people, Jalen has never thrown a good pass. Its always bad defense or he got lucky or the DB fell down....never a good throw by Jalen. Weird.

And while yes, he certainly still left some points on the field I feel the passing game was improved. Hurts threw for 277/1/2 completing 62% of his passes. The two INTs need to be clean up but one was clearly due to the QB and receiver not being in sync and the other was a great play by the DB. Oddly enough, the second still lead to points :shades: .

The Eagles are 3-0, one of only 3 teams still without a loss. In his last 21 games as the QB, Hurts is 20-1.

I know all the love is going to Hurts on that play, but I do think OZ gets some recognition for the concentration and making that play. we have seen our share of WRs who would have dropped that over the last 15 or so years, glad OZ could pay it off for Jalen

and with the credit of that TD pass, I think his other throw in the redzone deserves a lot of credit too. Pocket was collapsing on him and he had the sense to throw that touch pass that was inches over the out-stretched arms of that LB. AJ couldn't bring it down, but that was a nice pass with good touch on it

Yeah that looked like AJ mistimed his jump. Any lower and that pass gets batted down.

The Eagles are currently #1 in the league in run defense, giving up 48 YPG. Also 0 rushing TDs and 3.0 YPC.

The Eagles are currently #2 in the league in rusing offense, averaging 185 yards per game. Also - 4.9 YPC and 4 rushing touchdowns.

The Eagles probably are the team with the best combo of offensive and defensive lines in the NFL.

For the "Eagles played an Easy Schedule" guys - The Eagles have a 1st place schedule and are already 2-0 against division winners from last year including a game where they were up 20 on the Vikings and last night decidedly against the Tampa Bay Bucs where the defense feasted and the offense still put up 25 points while looking still not on the same page.

I believe they've also covered the spread each of the 3 games.

Did not cover against the Vikings. Back door.

I'm enjoying having the Binary Birds on my dynasty team. #1, #0, #11.
I got Eagles D, SWIFT, Smith and Goart in my keeper league Herbert as my QB with the Allen connection and Cheetah. I’m pretty too heavy but this might be my best overall team plus bench ever

According to @john_gonoude

Britain Covey since Week 13 of 2022:

291 punt return yards (1st in #NFL )
14.6 punt return average (1st) (min. 15 returns)
13 punt returns of 10+ yards (1st)
9 punt returns of 15+ yards (1st)
5 punt returns of 20+ yards (1st)
4 punt returns of 25+ yards (1st)
hmm, never would have guessed. i still am a fan of Allen thinking he may have a better chance taking it the distance, but can't argue with that

I think allen is better when building up a head of steam, so kickoffs are a better fit whereas covey is a bit shiftier

Just about the best team I’ve ever seen if I’m being honest 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well they are one of only 3 remaining unbeaten teams but I wouldn't go so far as to say best ever. But you do you.

After the Cowboys performance last week, you should probably chill out with the passive aggressive attacks here.

on a complete side note, I think I find myself in a position I never, ever thought I would be. I think I am actually going to be a fan of the Cowpokes on week 5. Can't believe it myself, but the last 6-9 months of 49ers media and fan base has driven me to a place I never thought I could be.

funny world...
