2024-25 NBA Thread: Kevin Love fulfillls destiny by being traded to Utah (112 Viewers)

Wemby just got cleared for basketball activities. I am not a doctor, but five months for deep vein thrombosis seems like a long time. I hope this isn’t a reoccurring problem.

Never thought of Garnett as the 16th best player ever. That’s pretty wild to me.
KG is/was the man. Appropriate ranking.
I am holding broheim @SWC back bro from entering the KG conversation.
i mean it is subjective as hell and i think there is a huge recency bias in this list so its nuts but if you give him the argument that he was one of the first 7 footers to play on the perimiter ok but man joker is behind him and has more points rebonds a lot more assists the same steals and yes less rebounds and a lot better field goal percentage i mean when i think of joker at 17 i think of a generational talent who has dominated against everyone in his era when i think of kg i think of a guy who didnt make his teams in minnesota top contenders and who only won a title after he went and surrounded himself with paul pierce and ray allen both of whom if i am being honest were more important to that title than kg but hey like i said its all subjective i probably put kg in the high 30s or so myself take that to the bank brohans

This take should be taken to the sperm bank and euthanized.

(I do agree Joker should be ranked higher - my comment is not a knock on Joker)

just to get this out there i would put joker dirk anteater dr j moses dwade barkely stockton hondo nash cousey and mchale and probably others if i looked at i long enough maybe pettit all ahead of kg in my book better winners and carried their teams to finals or were multiple time mvps i just think of kg as being in the hall of really good but not a guy that carried a team to the finals he just never did it in minny and it took the celtics and other players to get him there take that to the bank bromigos

minnesotas winning percentage with sprewell was 566 with kg it was 529 i mean spre meant more winning in minnesota than kg i will just leave that there take that to the bank brohans

Beal officially gets bought out and is joining the Clippers on a 2/$11m deal. Clippers are pretty deep now.
Yeah, good deal for the Clippers.

I watched Beal a couple times live last year. By my eye test, he can still score and impact a game.
I was kinda hoping he’d go to the Bucks. They could have used him the most (of his potential options).
Et tu, Yo mama?

He wouldn’t start with the Magic, I would think. LAC and Bucks could offer him a starting spot, and I would think he’d have the biggest role with the Bucks. Clippers probably had the most money to offer of his potential landing spots.

@General Malaise - ALERT!!

Sounds like Lillard and the Blazers are negotiating his return to Portland.

Is this the Yang Hansen effect?
It’s official - 3 years / $42m, with a player option in 27-28 and a no trade clause. Seems like a great deal for him to go home and recover this year.
So they are basically hoping they can get $28 million of value from him the year after next, as a 36 year old coming off an Achilles tear. Seems unlikely but not totally out of the realm of possibility.

Curious how they’ll find time for both Lillard and Jrue with the young guys in 26-27.

Would assume Jrue gets moved at some point.

Has a player as good as Jrue ever been traded by the sane team twice?

I think this move has very little to do with actual basketball. IMO.

Based on my quick internet research, the best players to be traded twice by the same team are Dale Ellis (Sonics) and Otis Thorpe (Kings).

I’d probably rate Jrue ahead of both, although Ellis did average 27.5 per game in 88-89 and made 3rd team all-NBA.
Chauncey Billups (HOF) with Denver.

Ehhh, he just wants to come home and be with his kids and his connections. Anything he does on the court will be gravy. Just happy he will be happy.
From what I understand about his family law case, he's currently heavily incentivized to be back in Portland. I am not at all surprised by this move.

You called that many pages ago.

Bet I see him at the Buffalo Wild Wings by their training complex in Tualatin real soon. :lmao:

Well, let's just say I may have some information that the average fan doesn't/wouldn't.

(I really can't say much more than that as I believe much of his family court case is sealed)

While looking up all this trade stuff, I realized Otis Thorpe has to have one of the most interesting trade histories ever.

He helped the Rockets win a title and was then traded for Clyde Drexler in midseason the next year. He was included with Mitch Richmond in a deal for Chris Webber. Before his final season, he was part of a ridiculous 9-player trade where the Heat and Hornets swapped half their rotation players.

He retired after the 2001 season but was back in the news in 2003, when the heavily-protected Grizzlies pick the Pistons got for him in 1997 ended up being No. 2 in one of the strongest drafts of all-time... and they used it to take Darko Milicic.

Rostering & paying guy that can't even play next season >>>> Rostering and refusing to pay mopey multi-millionaire with no motor that can't get to games in snow
Good luck to the Lakers though

I'm sure they'll be Domin-Ayton 🙄

Enjoy him! 🙏
Even with all that he’s still an upgrade to whatever else the Lakers had. At least they aren’t paying him much of anything.
