2024 College Football Thread: a divided nation holds its breath to see results of first college football playoff poll (2 Viewers)

Bama, Mizzou, Michigan, Tennessee
4 Top-10 teams already that have gone down in flames

Canes Defense awful.
Cal hasn't looked good on offense in the games I watched, FSU beat them IIRC

Miami looks terrible early, offense is OK but bad decision on 4th down to go for it
Is Miami going to be the 5th team to fall today?
If they don’t get their **** together soon…..yes.

Paying close attention to Cam Ward on the road….hostile crowd, down early, getting hit a lot.

Good test.

Bet you Grier ain’t watching.

Cam Ward having a rough night.

I hope they make adjustments in the second half and Ward also takes what the defense is giving.

Welp……this is what I was talking about @Ministry of Pain

Ward has too much arrogance about his athletic ability. That was a dreadful decision and throw.

Miami going down tonight.

That was so bad. Where in the hell are you throwing that ball.

We literally just said take what the defense gives you.

Turnover machine.

How is he gonna respond…..scouts are watching.

Outcoached so badly and UM also stayed on the bus.

Congratulations Cal…..you kicked our arse.

This one is over.

Michael Irvin is going to have a heart attack on the sidelines one of these weeks, I get that he bleeds orange and green but OMG he's gotta calm down

I'm in shock but if you watch Cam Ward every week you still thought you had a chance even after the pick-6, down 35-10 it was more of a concern that Miami can't stop anyone
Restrepo had 165 yards tonight, insane

Cam Ward threw for 338 yards in the 2nd half. And wins a game that started at 1:30 am EST.

It's all good Cal, you will always have your amazing funny signs and ELECTRIC atmosphere on College Gameday!!!

Is Cam Ward a mid first round pick in the draft? He was a 3rd round grade going into the season. He made several big plays tonight, but I need to see it versus better teams.

This is why you don't whine and make proclamations about your team during the game.

You don't get to enjoy it when they win.

 (8) Miami 39, California 38-
Miami: trailed 35-10 in 3rd quarter; largest comeback win so far this season in FBS-
Miami: largest comeback win since 2003 vs Florida (also 25 points);
largest road comeback win since 1999 at Boston College (won after trailing by 28)

6 games
2,200+ pass yds
23 TD, 5 Int including one tonight that was horrific
You don't throw across the field like that up for grabs
He's a little too nonchalant sometimes
ARich went No 4 overall, Ward is going Top 5, too many needy NFL teams that will want to scoop him up

I have no idea who you're talking to but Canes fans are going to enjoy this tonight, this morning, whatever time it is
We've got NFL action in just a few hours

Cam Ward and offense against Virginia Tech - three straight touchdown drives to end the game

Cam Ward and offense against Cal - four straight touchdown drives to end the game

CLUTCH

No it’s called being an old fart……I was in bed enjoying this unlikely….miraculous comeback. My phone stays in another room when I go to bed.

College football rules.

I won’t ever doubt “Mr” Cam Ward again.

Grier…..were you watching this game? This is what a franchise QB looks like.

Kids, this is a masterclass on the reverse jinx mojo.

Congrats @Todem !

I had it in the bag the whole time!!!

This guy is reporting this as a done deal, effective immediately. Life is moving pretty fast for these guys. In retrospect its kind of a "no ####" moment. Why should a 17 year old kid have to enter into a binding agreement with these schools a year or more before he's going to school? Its unbelievable the system these pricks set up.

I don’t get it, what’s the point? All this is doing is saying they agree to stay for one year? Have there really been that many cases of people jumping ship before the first year is up? Is this in response to the unlv kid? Is the main point to keep kids from flipping before they even get on campus? Have I asked enough questions?

Oregon might be the most cursed football program out there. Jordan Burch, their defensive end and best defensive player got hurt in Thursdays practice and will miss the game tomorrow. He got hurt on 3rd play of Conference Championship game last year against Washington which killed the defense. Unreal. Supposedly he should be back in a month or two.

Remember when Flowe and Thibs were out for the Ohio St game? A game we WON convincingly? Maybe this is a good omen? Maybe?

Yes of course as I went to that game. Awesome experience. Hope you are right and the depth shows out tomorrow. Key to this game is to get pressure on Howard and Burch was excellent at that. I still think Oregon has a good chance to win tomorrow.

Really hoping OUTX goes to a bunch of overtimes so they get just desserts for moving the game from mildly hot but oh well time of day to "most scorching hot possible please" time of day and it gets dark.

A #2 v #3 matchup in Eugene this weekend? Both teams seem untested so this could be interesting.
Oregon seemed to be tested early in the season. Granted, they were tests that shouldn't have been, but tests. Seems the only question here is if Oregon's trench play is up to snuff, especially on defense. If I were OSU, I'd run the ball until they proves they can stop it. That's not Chip's or Ryan's style though.
