2024 College Football Thread: Confused Georgia players attribute slow start to Kirby Smart begging them to take their feet off the gas (14 Viewers)

Born: February 9, 2007 (age 17 years)

Will enter the draft at younger than 19 years 2 months old and 1st NFL regular season at 19 years 7 months old

Id love to see some Williams or Smith high school tape because there's no way anyone covered them
I saw Rocket Ismail in a High School All-Star game. He was uncoverable - in an AS game filled with future D1 guys. I have seen a lot of HS football. He was the fastest I've ever seen at that level.

Michigan: Just go with your freshman QB stud.

Agree 1000%

Alex Orgi is the worst starting QB I have ever seen at Michigan. Can`t throw, has zero vision passing or running. Thought at the very least he would be a dynamic running but he is a plodder who can`t beat a defender to the edge, and can`t run the read option. Handing off when he should keep it, keep it for little gain when he should be handing off. And was snapping the ball late in the game with 10-15 seconds on the play clock. Announcers could not believe it. The is a coaching issue too. After one that should have been corrected.

Orgi would not start for any other team in the BIG, maybe the MAC. It is obvious why he was not named the starter to begin the season. Davis was not much better but at least he was a threat to pass..even if it was to the other team.

Why teams even play safeties is beyond me as there is no way he can hit a deep pass. 90% of his completions are quick sideway passes. Nothing downfield.

Would not be surprised at all in the future to see a 5 man DL, 5 LBs, and one safety back just in case.

the good news is that Dave Portnoy has committed up to $3m per year to have a top QB at Michigan going forward

Not a lot of people know this but it's true -

Oregon Ducks are 4-0.

Still not in love with Dillon Gabriel but I suppose he's "fine".

His stats are insane though. 81% completion rate and 9 TDs vs 1 Int. Re their 4-0 record, I have Oregon beating OSU at home and going undefeated, but thus far, like OSU, they have yet to play a ranked team so not much yet to crow about.

Yeah, that's the thing - the numbers are really good so I can't pinpoint why I'm not a huge fan of his. I'm just not "feeling it" with him.

But if they beat OSU I might go out and buy his jersey in XXL. :bag:

SMU is a wild ride. Maybe 10 years ago was close to throwing in the towel. Was a 0-4 vs P5 schools losing combined 200-10 or something around there. Multiple high school teams in the area have larger capacity stadiums and fill them. D2 was talked about seriously.

Pony up.

As many are pointing out on social media, it is ironic that in FSU’s lawsuit against the ACC they specifically called out SMU’s admission as an example of the conference’s demise.

I don’t really care for Portnoy but I’m fine if he wants to spend his money on my team

Always thought as state schools went, UM was one of the toughest ones to get into.....UNC, Virginia, the Cal schools.

Reporters and Holtz used to have fun with questions about Rocket back in they day. They'd just lob a ball at Lou to see what he'd come up with:

"Coach, how fast is Rocket Ismail?"
"That boy's so fast, I caught him out on the quad the other day playing tennis with himself...."

next week....

"Coach, Rocket looked fast out there today. Does he always look this fast to you in practice?"
"Man he's so fast, he can hit the light switch and be in bed before it's dark in the room...."

It is. I know friends of my daughters who are now doctors that did not get in with a 4.0. Lot of out of state students at U-M.

As I think was noted a couple pages back, at least half (probably more) would happily take Saudi money to attract better players if offered. Whoever this Portnoy guy is, my guess is he’s probably never taken a bone saw to a journalist who criticized him, even if maybe he’s wanted to.

Half? Everyone would take the $$$$ from anywhere if there was no backlash.

Right now the NIL is like the wild west. There are no rules or regulations. The NCAA will be obsolete and cease to exist for the revenue sports in a couple years, and college will have a commissioner like the NFL and NBA. To try to keep it somewhat fair they need a spending cap per year per team. Then the new career will be a college GM to decide how to allocate.

There are no caps on endorsements. Anywhere.

If a car dealership wants to pay Arch Manning, but only if he is at Texas, there is no rule coming down the pike to stop them.

There is no cap coming.
