2024 Cowboys Thread. 3-3, I think. Players, coaches and FO don’t care - neither do I. (3 Viewers)

How outa shape do people think he is ?
CeeDee looks amazing, he is ripped and added weight. He’s going to be a monster.

If you are talking about Dalvin Cook - his agent posted a video. He also looks ripped, I would say a tick better than Zeke.

Dallas adding yet another RB who can't top 4 YPC is so deliciously on brand.....my god.
Watching a Cook highlight reel from the jets last year, his OL didn't do him any favors. He is still under 30(at the moment). He's had a chance to heal and is said to be in great shape.

Yes, I'm justifying. Yes, I'm not being rational. Let me live my dream.

Breece Hall averaged 1.3 more yards per carry with the same OL. I think the days of Cook as a relevant RB are long gone.

Since Snyder was out Jones is now easily the worst (and perhaps dumbest) owner in the NFL.
Haslam? Tepper?
Yeah, plus irsay are clearly worse. Khan, maybe Spanos, woody Johnson, the bears owners, maybe Ross are others off the top of my head.

I would say that jerruh is kind a of a good floor raiser but limits the ceiling of the team. Seems to have good personnel people in place and is good at building the brand, but doesn’t really understand the finer points of building a real winner today (and probably thinks that he does). I say this as someone who doesnt follow as closely as the fans of the team (and frankly hates the cowboys) but I’m not saying it to dump on them.

Offense got the job done against last years best defense(arguable to be sure), and the defense was absolutely dominant.

Good start to the year.
They do this every year, which is nice, typically start strong. Dak’s got his money, the real test, one that he and the Cowboys have failed 3 years running under this core, now approaching 30 years in totality, is a deep playoff run.

I watched redzone all day. How did Guyton look against DPOY?
All things considered - not bad.

MM did a great job with play calling. He got some help with doubles as well as designed rollouts away from 95.

On the couple plays with no help, he won more than he lost.

Our rookies:
Kneeland
Carson
Guyton
Beebe
Overshown (not technically a rookie)

All played well.

Dallas might have the best D in the league, especially when Bland gets back. They just need to do it week-to-week.

BTW, Will McClay is worth his weight in gold. The Cowboys are on the verge of having the most talent in the NFL if they aren't there already.

Make or break year for McCarthy.

Carson strikes like a cobra
It's such an advantage to hit on a CB in the 5th and they end up being as good or better than the players teams are spending day-1 and day-2 picks on.

I'm NOT saying Carson is already that guy. Far from it, but he looks really good for a day-3 corner. Do the Cowboys believe they have something special since they gave him 21?

Curious about the long-term plan. I'm assuming Carson will be (or eventually be) their nickel when Bland returns.

Like night and day versus last years draft. Overshown may be the lone bright spot from it.
Did Mazi and Schoonmaker even play? I don't see them on any stat list, and don't remember hearing their names during the game.

19 offensive snaps for Schoonmaker, who plays lots of special teams too
23 for Mazi, who didn't get a stat but did a decent job in the rotation

Yeah, in my way too long post on this draft, I said I let out a woot when they got him in the 5th. I thought he was long gone by then. He's better than a few corners taken in the first and second rounds. Steal.

He asked for 21 and got it. Not sure what to read into that but... uh, much as I like him 21 is... well, ya know.

Jourdan Lewis probably has the slot locked down and played quite a few more snaps than Carson, so I'm guessing Bland replaces Carson and his snap count goes way down. Still very impressive addition to the secondary, and Zimmer did say he could play inside.

I watched the game with a keen eye on the rookie OLs. Beebe blows me away. He is so good. If he keeps it up, he's going to the best center in the league. Guyton had the rougher task and got a lot of help with Garrett being chipped by an rb, but he looked the part. Gave up a few pressures but they were "okay" as he always moved Garrett deep enough that Dak could step up. That's the DPoY getting shut out against a rookie. I'm more impressed than I hoped for. Steele and Martin gave up the sacks. Hate to say it but Zack is showing his age.

I follow some OL gurus on X. One posted Beebe's day as the best of any rookie interior OL. Another posted Guyton's as 2nd only to Fuaga, who was a monster in NO. So Guyton graded better than Alt and a few others drafted before him. Fashanu goes tonight.
You could tell pretty early on the Cowboys hit on those guys. Two perfect additions to the OL and both are capable of being Pro Bowlers.

No doubt. Beebe's transition to C has been amazing.

Hearing we have close to 10 mill in Cap.
What happened to the Jones boys saying they were big spenders???

Trade for a RB please.
