2024 Las Vegas Raiders thread - Minsheeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwww (3 Viewers)

Jamies Winston on trade block. Am I wrong to think he’s an upgrade over current QBs on the roster?
Nope. Seems like a good dude too
I’d give a 4th rounder for him. Not sure if that’s enough in today’s market.
Apparently the Browns kept four QBs on their 53 man roster. They are likely trying to get anything for one of them or else releasing one of them. I would guess they would trade him for less than a fourth, but I wouldn't even bother with him.

Initial 53 Man Roster

Laube is 4th RB
McAllister and Keyton are WR5/6.
Regarding McAllister and Laube (and Abdullah), these new kickoff rules might make some new special teams stars. Some teams are gonna do better than others with this, and I want a staff that's valuing this part of the game. Right now, I would guess Abdullah and McAllister will be the top 2 guys.

Raiders kept 7 LB, that will likely change--but make Raider Nation happy for a while.

My man Nesta Jade made it over Matthew Butler. Useless tub of goo Byron Young made it. Janarious as last DE.

Chris Smith is 4th safety (I wonder if this could change, he hasn't shown much) Both rookie corners made it, I hope it stays that way. I think if they like another CB, one of the Amari LB will get cut, hopefully to the PS

There wasn't too much mystery this year. Decent amount of roster continuity.

EDIT: Oh, and if a decent backup G? Maybe a 4th OT? End the Peat Era?

tickets are starting to drop for next sunday, i’m going to be patient and wait til between next wednesday and saturday to really starting hunting

Creating this thread to recruit Sharkpoolers to start an FBG Home League using their new offering this year...

I know some of you posted earlier that you'd be interested in a Raider-fan FBG league, so thought I'd give you all the heads up to go over to that thread and join. Would be fun to do a league with you all, after all these years together!

@joey
@DA RAIDERS
@ZADO
@massraider
@DocHolliday
@Sarlakticacid
@32 Counter Pass
@Chaka
@Chadstroma
@CGRdrJoe
@Ed Wood
@RaidersAreOne
@ICON211
@Bruno2
Just need 1 more to fill out the league, I believe.

More Raiders fan could only be a good thing. If only because I’d be drafting against a bunch of dummies. (Must be dummies to remain Raiders fans all these years)

From the 'hurts my soul' files:

Couple recent Raiders first round picks among NFL cuts

Happy Former Raiders First Rounders Getting Cut Day for all those who celebrate. Today it's Alex Leatherwood and Johnathan Abram who are getting their walking papers by the team they were hoping to latch on with.

Leatherwood was the Raiders top pick in the 2021 draft. He lasted just one season for the Raiders before being cut. He played four games with the Bears in 2022 and hasn't seen an NFL snap since. He signed onto the Browns' practice squad last season and wasn't brought back. Then signed with the Chargers this past offseason. Now he's looking for work again.

Abram was taken at 27 overall in the 2019 draft. He was in his fourth season with the Raiders and was released midway through the season. He was claimed by the Packers and cut after two games then signed by the Seahawks where he finished the season. He appeared in nine games with the Saints last season.

The other five first round picks for the Raiders the past five years:

2023 DE Tyree Wilson -- Backup for Raiders

2020 WR Henry Ruggs -- Prison

2020 CB Damon Arnette -- Out of the league

2019 DE Clelin Ferrell -- On his third NFL team (Washington)

2019 RB Josh Jacobs -- Signed with Green Bay this offseason

There’s some decent players on that list. I hope they bring in at least one that has a track record of just being a hard working good team mate.

Cornerback Free Agents Available After Cuts:
Facsyon went to IR, so 4 game minimum. He still ain't right, I guess.

Devonshire was cut, so they only have 4 right now. Sam Webb on PS, so yeah, looks like the gonna sign someone.

I am a bit surprised they kept 7 LB so far, but the two Amaris have both shown well this summer it seems.

From the news reel: Free-agent CB Darnay Holmes (Giants) signed with the Las Vegas Raiders Wednesday, Aug. 28. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Interesting tidbit just shared on the live presser w/ AP. AP has known Darnay since he was 13. Knows his father. And coached Darney when he was 17.
I like those types of connections.

Took davante at 2.08 in the Fbg draft. Had too. I wasn’t blown away with the other options and had to have a raider on the Fbg team. May the festival king throw to him all day every day

[Tashan Reed] Pierce said the #Raiders wanted to draft DT Jonah Laulu, who they claimed on the waiver wire after he was released by the Colts. He thinks he adds some more depth and juice at DT. He's a former edge rusher and will likely play 3-tech.

Interested to see how happy you guys are with the Raiders roster after season 1 with Telesco. Last season, 72 players played at least one snap for the Chargers on offense, defense, and/or special teams. As of right now, the Chargers have:
  • 30 players on their 53 man roster from that group (and I don't expect backup QB Stick to last)
  • 2 of 5 players on IR from that group
  • 2 of 17 players on the practice squad from that group and 2 others who were on the practice squad last year
That is just 36 of 75 current Chargers players who are holdovers from Telesco's final season with the Chargers. New regime normally leads to change, but that seems like more than normal. I'm interpreting that as confirmation of what Chargers fans have long thought about the poor depth in Telesco's rosters.

But it was always hard to know how to separate responsibility between Telesco and President of Football Operations John Spanos, the owner's son. If Telesco does a better job with the Raiders, that could imply Spanos had a big hand in those decisions. At least nowadays, it seems like Spanos is completely hands off and GM Hortiz is running the show.

Anyway, you guys probably don't care much about this, just a data point for consideration.

Ha. As a long suffering Raiders fan, it actually biases me AWAY from drafting any Raiders :)

Telesco didn't make any moves that I didn't understand. He behaved like a GM not worried about getting fired. Maybe after a couple years, and he's feeling pressure, maybe panics going after a QB or whatever.

The moves that inform my opinion of him this summer was:

getting Wilkins, which was a good move, and correcting a mistake made by a previous regime.
Drafting Bowers. BPA. This pick alone probably puts him in Raider GM Hall of Fame, for pete's sake.
The obvious 'reach' they made was a 3rd round OT, who has been really good all summer.

Obviously draft is TBD, as is free agency, but the next step will be the guys up for new deals. Those decisions, and outcomes, will matter a lot.

Agree with all of this. Wilkins and Bowers seemed like good decisions to me. Not looking forward to facing them.

Reaching in the 3rd was a standard MO for Telesco with the Chargers; however, I would characterize 5 of his 12 3rd round picks as working out at least okay so far, and maybe that is fine for the 3rd round.

The raiders excell in the 3rd round! It’s those pesky 1st 2 picks that are the issue. Especially that 1st pick. :lmao: :lmao:

Looking more likely that I’m going to the game. The idea is to take my daughter to her first game. Need 4 tickets. Waiting till last minute
Is waiting until the last minute the accepted "best" strategy?

I plan to be in Vegas on the 13th when the Steelers are in town and would love to make it to the game. Should I not be looking for tickets now? And where do you look for them at the last minute? Stubhub?

Historically yes. But that ticket is a tough one to get. I’m a gambler when it comes to tickets. I’ll wait till game day sometimes.

Steelers travel like ###### #######, that's for sure.

I'm willing to gamble on it but, what do we think the cost savings could be relative to buying now?

It kind of depends on how much you’re looking to spend honestly, I don’t think it’ll be that much for that game so if you find something in your wheelhouse and you like where the seats are, I probably pull the trigger early

Right now upper sideline seats are in the $400+ range for the Steelers on Oct 13th.
I went to the sunday night game last year against the steelers, the sweet spot was the Wednesday/Thursday before the game for ticket prices. They started going up saturday morning so I pulled the trigger on 4 of them at that point and by Sunday they had gone even higher. We sat in section 124 row like 13 and paid $545 a seat but there had been similar tickets for $375 on Wednesday :wall:

We are waiting til Saturday to figure out the opener, if we can sit lower for $300 then we will go to the game but if they stay high then we are just going to watch from home.

How low? I’m watching pricing now. There’s some in the 300 level for $258 on TM yesterday. I haven’t looked today yet.

Best traveling fans in the country, for sure. But really, if I lived in Western PA, I'd be traveling as much as possible too.

Best bet for a deal is if PIT craps the bed early. That LV game is their 4th road game out of 6 to start the season. Dang.

I’m taking my daughter to her first raider game so may spring for better tickets than usual.

I'm hoping that the 200 level hits sub 300, last year 100 level tickets were sub 300 but it was week 4 and not the opening game. I would be down to pay more but I just dropped $450 on a RIP ticket for universals studio Halloween horror nights for 9/13 :bag:

I've never been to SOFI so I'm not sure what my expectations of the seats are but I'd prefer to be no higher than the 200 level.

the first few rows of the 300 level are fine. but it's a steep stadium. meaning you get up high quick. i'm talking to a guy online that has 4 front row in the 200s that wants $350 each. if i can verify the dude i might go for them. for $300 of course :D

ugh, I went that route for the steelers game but 99% felt like scams and the 1% guy wanted too much on one of the raider fan sites. In the end ticket master had the best prices between 4 other resell sites.

For sure. It’s a nightmare. He has them listed on stubhub. I’ve asked him to change the price on stubhub to prove that he has them. Still not comfortable 😬

How many tickets are you looking for? I’m looking for 4. We should work together. If I see anything I’ll let you know!

4-5 but still a bunch of unknowns at this point. **** I don't even fly down til Friday afternoon so I'm guessing that I'll be able to get more straight answers then.

Because I'm eager for the return of Raider football, this seems to be relevant information today. DC Graham will be in the booth to call plays, OC Getsy will be on the sideline.

More 4 packs of seats are showing up on TM in the 200s for less than $300 I might pull the trigger today
