Correct. Miami has Tua under contract through 2028, but their out if after next season with a cap hit, so Miami is in the QB market in 2025. Period, end of story. Now, the question will be do they bring in a vet or draft someone, or both? I'd put my stock in drafting someone but who knows. If it was that easy to "get better" Seattle would have done it, the Vikings would have done it, etc. You need to have the top pick on the correct year (Chicago and Caleb Williams vs Carolina and Bryce Young) or a ton of draft capital to move up or get lucky and someone falls on a good QB year. You can't just will it.Sorry dude but Tua was not that good. This is like all the Vikings fans fretting over the loss of Kirk Cousins or Seattle fans feel lost without Russel Wilson. This is an opportunity to get a better QB.In the history of the Miami Dolphins there have been a couple of high water mark games that are like the worst ever in franchise history
One was Jacksonville 61-7 in the Playoffs and knowing that was Marino's last game and we were going to go in a new direction
This was arguably the most devastating loss in franchise history when you factor in recent franchise QB has his career potentially end
The foundation of the franchise was uprooted last night
I can't speak for all Miami fans but I would like to turn the page at this point, as painful as it might be financially and within the cap.Possible replacements: Keep Thompson as the starter, Ryan Tannehill. Jimmy Garoppolo, Sam Howell, Mac Jones. Joshua Dobbs, Jake Browning. There are others, but how realistic?

I'd prefer they trade everyone and next year field 25 UDFAs and just eat it. Go 1-16 but be free of all these bad contracts now and just swallow the Tua money in 1 or 2 off seasons
Don't draw it out and try to spread the money over 4-5 years, just be done with it
I would just roll Thompson out there for better or worse
He was drafted 7th rd in '22, started as many Playoff games as Tua
For all those bashing Skyler, how many snaps or reps do you think he took on a short week? I bet he took barely any
Give him 10 days in practice taking reps and snaps every day, we've seen this kid look alright, I'd prefer they let Skyler play
I think they should give him a shot too. He has flaws, but he earned a lot of credit with me for how he approached that playoff game. Not going to judge him on what we saw last night. For all those bashing Skyler, how many snaps or reps do you think he took on a short week? I bet he took barely any

Prob have to send a 4th+ to get a team's current #2 assuming their #3 is just as good.
Probably is, but options are limited and he's a backup who realistically could be traded for nothing.Lance seems to be garbage.Trey Lance knows McDaniel from their SF days.Possible replacements: Keep Thompson as the starter, Ryan Tannehill. Carolina took the wrong guy….just like we did.If it was that easy to "get better" Seattle would have done it, the Vikings would have done it, etc. You need to have the top pick on the correct year (Chicago and Caleb Williams vs Carolina and Bryce Young) or a ton of draft capital to move up or get lucky and someone falls on a good QB year. Ok, please give me the list of better QBs available that Miami can acquire and win playoff games with. I'll wait.Sorry dude but Tua was not that good. Mac Jones and Browning would be the top 2 but I doubt either of those are up for trade. With Burrows wrist surgery they probably need Browning just in case something flares up or he has a setback. Browning is under contract with the Bengals through 2026 for dirt cheap so I don't see them wanting to trade him.Possible replacements: Keep Thompson as the starter, Ryan Tannehill. Jimmy Garoppolo, Sam Howell, Mac Jones. Joshua Dobbs, Jake Browning. There are others, but how realistic?
So losing Tua IYO is the most devastating loss in franchise history? Everyone wants to crap on Tua and can't wait to toss him aside. These elite QBs that can win playoff games and super bowls aren't just hanging around.
Tua takes a lot of unnecessary flack. And since this is a fantasy football forum, Tua was great for the play makers (Hill, Waddle and the starting RBs).

Skylar has a good arm, he just needs to be confident and make his decisions right away. trust his receivers. He can't wait until he sees it open - by then it is too late.Seems like they are going to roll with Skylar for now. Worth a shot IMO
It is. Once he gets up to speed with the playbook I assume he goes in. I think he will be a lot more poised and able to execute the offense.Maybe it’s time to see what Huntley can do.
Hard to find any game logs where he threw for 200 yds in a single game and he had 5 starts end of the '22 seasonIt is. Once he gets up to speed with the playbook I assume he goes in. I think he will be a lot more poised and able to execute the offense.Maybe it’s time to see what Huntley can do.
I'm on the fence if he can elevate Hill and Waddle to make them fantasy viable tho.
658 yds - 2 TD passesMaybe it’s time to see what Huntley can do.
Miami is indeed in big trouble. ZERO offense last game and our defense can't stop anything, especially the run.Hard to find any game logs where he threw for 200 yds in a single game and he had 5 starts end of the '22 seasonIt is. I really don't believe he will do well at all but Thompson sustained an injury and looked not good we'll say on the road in Seattle
Season is over anyways, be better if Miami started to trade guys they shouldn't extend and get the most they can in draft capital to start a rebuild process
Problem is Grier is trying to keep his job and won't think like that
Miami is in Big Trouble right now

James Cook destroyed us even before Tua got hurt vs BUF.
It's not good captain.
They just gave HUGE money to Tua-Tyreek-Waddle-Ramsey...it's gonna be painful and it admits mistakes and defeat, ho pays the price for that? Grier?I’m at an all time low. Want to know how I know? My first thought this morning was to blow the whole thing up and do whatever it takes to get Belichick.
Looking forward to getting lit up by Will Levis on a Monday night at home. Again.
I'd say that Miami should just run RPOs with this guy. If McDaniel can't put together a scheme that uses his legs as a threat beside the speed of Waddle, Achane, and Hill then we really need to be asking serious questions about him.658 yds - 2 TD passesMaybe it’s time to see what Huntley can do.
Over 5 games, 4 of them he started
You that intrigued by this guy?
I understand why you want someone else besides Thompson, I honestly do

It's funny. Skylar was getting a lot of praise when he played Buffalo in the playoffs but I didn't really see much there. It's visually jarring to go from one of the quickest releases in the game (Tua) to a pretty slow one. Everyone is tearing him apart today but what I noticed yesterday was just how poorly the coaching staff set up him. Boyle looked a little better mostly because he would just rip the first read. And he’s looked a lot better than anything I’ve seen from Thompson.
It was time to either pay Tua or find a trade partner, they were never trading so they paid himNever a huge Armando fan, but he hit the nail on the head here:
Grier was obviously feeling confident about himself and his personnel staff after they won zero playoff games during his eight-year tenure as a general manager. So he felt he could call out the media about their constant criticism of how he handles talent along the offensive line.
GM Chris Grier's Lack Of Forethought Is Hurting The Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins gambled last year in not signing a former starting quarterback to back up Tua Tagovailoa and that worked. They tried it again this year and it is already failing.www.outkick.com
Some people just have to show themselves in public
Honestly surprised this doesn’t happen more often. Some people just have to show themselves in public
I've seen Huntley look bad too.I think some jobs are on the line if Tim Boyle plays like typical Tim Boyle vs the Titans. I am not sure how the front office evaluates him positively when he threw nothing but check downs against you in week 12. That is not a gamble I would ever take.
They better get Huntley up to speed quickly.
Kevin O'Connell is a comparison that really hurts here. He has been able to turn chicken **** into chicken salad with any QB he has plugged in. Not that Mullens, Dobbs, and Hall looked great last year but they all were able to run a functional offense. The thing that’s pissing me off the most is watching these other castaways not just playing ok, but lighting up the league. And we have this so called offensive genius who’s coached a player for 2+ years who can’t complete a 10 yard pass with two of the best receivers in the league at his disposal. Absolutely infuriating. I get that the offensive line stinks to high heaven but yesterday’s offensive performance is inexcusable.
I guess where I diverge on this is that the salary cap is always a house of cards. As long as an owner is willing to spend the actual cash, it isn't really a binding constraint. You're right though, Ross does value perceived stars too highly. It was time to either pay Tua or find a trade partner, they were never trading so they paid himNever a huge Armando fan, but he hit the nail on the head here:

Tua played for $4M last year, they could never get him out there on a 5th year option so they gave him the big contract close to about training camp
Once they paid Tua, they had to go cheap on areas they hoped they wouldn't need like back up QB and the OL because Tua gets the ball out fast
Even if you believe what I just wrote, Tua looked pretty bad in the Game 1 and especially vs Buffalo where prior to the concussion he threw a terrible Pick-6
It's always been a house of cards. Tua markets well and made the fan base happy, most of them
Sells seats, keeps the media happy and off the owners back so he doesn't have to actually produce wins
We don't measure success by wins and losses, those are Stephen Ross' own words when he fired Flores
The curse of Don Shula lives on.
4 winning seasons in a row. I think the streak stops this year. It’s a dumpster fire.
And Ross continues to get horrendous advice and write terrible checks for terrible decisions.
Based on what?
Obviously not wins and losses. Not on sound scouting.
It’s been bad ever since Shula was forced out.

First it was the GOAT Brady in our division for almost 20 years. Now it's Josh Allen who's been playing like an MVP for 5 years, and should continue for another 10. Until the last 2 games, the product has been fun to watch under McDaniel and Grier
Big mistake to extend Tua ... at least one local sports writer, Barry Jackson, said the best option was to let Tua play out his 5th year option to see if he could stay healthy another year and play better vs good teams. We need to pull an Atlanta and draft a QB in 2025.
