2024 New York Football Giants (hello darkness my old friend) (1 Viewer)

If the Giants go with Josh Ezeudo over Evan Neal ... Both Shoen and Daboll should be fired
Neal might suck but he's a top 7 pick in the draft that has been playing out of position since they drafted him
You have to at least give him a final chance to prove himself at the position that he established himself @ Bama
We already know that Ezeudo sux no matter where you put him ... and now they are going to play him at LT !?!?!?
Are you kidding me ??

Daboll -

"We’ve had six weeks here in the regular season where Evan (Neal) has taken, I’d say, the majority of right tackle snaps in case something happened to Jermaine (Eluemunor). (Joshua) Ezeudu has taken left tackle snaps. But then, once this happens, you have discussions about how you want to approach it. We’ll do a few things here this week and then ultimately after Friday’s practice, we’ll make our decision on how we’re going to go with that.

“Jermaine (Eluemunor) will start out today at the right side. We’ll put Ezeudu in here at the left. Then we’ll rotate guys around throughout the week. However it goes, we’ll give the majority of reps to however it sorts out early in practice, on Thursday, and then ultimately on Friday. You’re not going to replace an Andrew Thomas. I feel terrible for him."

******
I do agree that we need to see if Neal has anything to offer this team going forward, not sure will see it this week though. Lot of games left.

Ironic the guy who referred to fans as hamburger flippers may be heading that way himself.
That's Just terrible planning as usual
If Neal is going to be a backup at least put him on the side that he was most comfortable and successful @ Bama ... he should have been practcing at LG and LT all along.
He's played the last 2 Seasons at RT. He has not been very good, but he should be ready to step in in an emergency without much practice.
Ezeudo on the other hand projects as a Guard but has not had success at any positions he has played so far. You certainly dont want him protecting the blind side having never done it at a high level or really any level

Hope I am wrong ... but I predict the Eagles will exploit the **** out of Ezeudo and this will be a major factor in this game.

The major factor in the game is going to the Eagles' desire to ram Barkley down the defenses throat. I doubt it is going to be pretty.

ETA: I'll likely need to watch on mute, as the announcers are going to ram down the viewer's throats too. The revenge theme is going to very strong. (Meh, I am glad he got a chance to earn some bucks. Wished he was wearing a different color of laundry, but whatever. They only have so many chances to make bank, I am happy Barkley got a chance to make his.)

Barkley worries me the least of all of the Eagles options and I think it would be a welcome mistake for them to force feed him the ball.
He didnt impress me as a Giant and I'm not overly impressed with him now ... His numbers are always juiced by one big run
I'll take Tracy who get's most ovf his yards on his own and can catch the ball

Sexy and Burns questionable
No Thomas
I have a very bad feeling about this.
But another New York team just upset a favored opponent from Philadelphia
So there's hope....
I guess :banned:

Panthers game on November 10th shaping up to be the biggest game of the year.

Daboll also said postgame that DJ is the starter going forward.

I felt last week that the insufferable Jerrah Jones' endorsement of his coach was the kiss of death. I kinda feel that Daboll just did the same for DJ.

I felt that while Danny Jones didn't do much to help himself, he was far far far away from the only reason they were embarrassed this afternoon. (This is my surprised face when Lock did nothing: )

I'm just happy they didn't shove Barkley down our throats. A 10+yard average, 1 TD and 170mumble yards wasn't much, was it?

3-4 wins
Top 5 pick again
If they keep Schoen and Daboll
More of the same sh!t next year
Before the season, I think it was you that said the OL would be better. They have been (with the exception of today anyway. We'll see what the future holds...) So, I think they've have improved from last year. It is just that this front office started in such a deep hole. The worse thing they did was show life in the first year out. Fooled people into thinking the turn around was going to be quick.

Sadly we've see that the team is still paper thin. The OL still has too little depth.

Jones has been beaten into irrelevance. Any QB would have been, honestly.

I think Schoen gets it. My patience for Daboll is waning. Has he made a bit of difference in calling the plays? Not by my eyes.

Giant Oline has regressed over the past 2 weeks back to where they were a year a ago.
Schoen and Daboll should be put on alert ... I do not want the same clowns that picked Neal and Thibodeux (5 & 7) wasting another top 5-7 pick in 2025 !

That they can't find a position on the worst line in the NFL for your #7 pick in the 2022 draft tells you everything you need to know about their drafting and coaching Olinemen

Ezeudu struggled and New York is already looking for his replacement. The Giants signed veteran tackle Chris Hubbard off the San Francisco 49ers practice squad. On Tuesday, they worked out free agent left tackle D.J. Humphries, who’s recovering from a torn ACL.

Why the hell is Neal on the roster if they have no intention of giving the for 7th pick in the 2022 draft a shot even in the most desperate of situations????
WTF !?!?!? This is malpractice !!

What do they have to lose??

I don't think draft position matters anymore with Neal.

They blew that pick, the guy is a bust, same pile as Toney, Deandre Baker and further back Ereck Flowers, Eli Apple, and Jones and a RB at #2 overall, it goes on and on.

Poor drafting and development the last decade. This year's draft class does look better in the small sample.

99 points in 7 games. 1 TD in 4 home games. Can't even find the end zone by accident.

Another primetime game on deck to showcase 'the Giant's way'.

:bag:

"John Mara said he does not anticipate making changes after the season. Part of reason he is committed to Joe Schoen & Brian Daboll — he still has confidence in them. Thinks he has not been patient enough in recent years." - Judy Battista, NFL.com

"I truly believe Mara doesn’t want to go through another overhaul. I also have been around long enough to know that things can change over the next 11 weeks…" - Dan Duggan, beat writer

There's patience
And there's beating a dead horse
I sure hope Mara's patience pays off and he's right
But I smell the odor of a dead animal in the distance
Of course, that odor could be The J-E-T-S

To quote my man Cam Newton “hindsight is 50/50”
I can’t fault Schoen for drafting Evan Neal at 7 in that draft when damn near everyone in the football world would have made that pick if they were the NY Giants GM.

I'm not convinced that Neal is a complete bust ... you cant call him that until he has practied and played on the left side of the line, where he has had by far his most success.
I think he could be a decent to good player, maybe even very good on the Left side of the line where he belongs.
I think there is more to this then meets eye. I think it has something more to with his attitude because he's a hell of a lot more talented than Ezeudo and there is not a football person outside of the Giants organization that wouldnt agree.

That said ... I wanted Charles Cross over Neal in the 2022 draft because I feel that Bama Linemen and size freak Olineman in general are always overrated ... I was happy that they drafted Neal because we needed an Olineman but he wouldnt have been my first choice.

Ugh. I see we’ve reached this part of the season. Seeing articles that might worse than the 123rd mock draft that has teams trading 39 players to move up in the draft to get the top 3 places. Now I’m seeing how great it would be trade sexy dexy to the Texans. Or maybe the Vikings. You know. Because. Ugh. Hate these authors trying to invent a story.

"Giants CB Tre Hawkins, who is listed as questionable with an ankle injury, is not expected to play tonight, per source. That leaves the Giants extremely shorthanded at corner with Adoree' Jackson (neck) already ruled out and Cor'Dale Flott (groin) doubtful.

Deonte Banks, Nick McCloud and Dru Phillips (and technically Isaiah Simmons) are the only healthy corners on the active roster. Expect CB Greg Stroman to be elevated from the practice squad.

Expecting to see McCloud on the outside opposite Banks on early downs with Stroman coming in on passing downs. Stroman has made five starts in his seven-year career.

Also, expecting OLB Tomon Fox to be elevated again."

Not great news for me needing Pickens locked down tonight to win.

I dont want to reach for a QB in the draft ... that is what got in this position in the first place
If there is a clear #1 QB a Manning, Luck, Burrow Mahomes ... sure

Otherwise I prefer to recycle the mistakes of other teams drafting QBs into no win situations like, Baker Mayfield, Darnald, Fields etc
Theres always vets like Russel Wilson, Dalton and Flacco who are capable of leading a strong team with under utilized weapons

Giants should be on the phone with Carolina and Indy trying to steal Bryce Young or Richardson for 6th rd pick or swap of failed 1st round picks like Neal (I'd prefer giving him a shot) if they have no intention of using him

Need to continue to lose and keep DeVito away from the starting lineup. This dude ruined our chance at JD and now we will face him 2X a year for the next decade.

But if Dimes gets a season ending injury ... it's gping to cost $22M against the 2025 cap

That’s why we got the hip-hopper Drew! Thank God we don’t have Saquon or we might win 6 games and not be in position to land a decent QB.

“I don’t call the plays,” Nabers said. “When you run the clock out in the first half, you’re scratching in the second half to try to score points, as many as possible. As an offense, you’ve got to be versatile. You’ve got to be able to run. You’ve got to be able to pass. You can’t pick between half and half what you want to do. But like I said, I’m not the play-caller.”

“You’ve got to build up,” Nabers said. “You’ve got to put the right people in place to be successful. You’ve got to get the right keys. You’ve got to get the right guys on the team to win. Obviously, the Commanders have done that. They’ve got the right guys that they want to be on the team, and they’re winning.”

He isn't wrong.

Wonder if anyone will be on the move before the deadline...Ojulari? Slayton? Think he may be in concussion protocol though.

The trade deadline has come and gone, and the Giants made no moves (unless you count cutting McCloud).
I wonder if they will try to resign Ojulari and/or Slayton.
I like both players and would like to see them back, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them leave in FA

Missed opportunities IMO. I doubt they can afford Ajulari and I wouldn't pay Slayton when they have Hyatt who plays the same position.

I'm glad they didn't make any moves
I enjoy being mired in the muck of never ending hopelessness
Come December when important games are played for playoff positions I have no disappointment if they lose a big game because there are no big games to lose
I watch,they lose,so what? No big deal.
It's great! Isn't it?

Big game Sunday morning in Germany
Watch them with a chance to win
Or they lose and improve their draft position
What do you want?

I can see it already. Week 18, a Giants loss and they lock up a top 2 pick. A win and they're drafting 5th. Eagles have their playoff seed locked in and rest everyone. Giants win a 12-10 thriller and miss out on drafting their QB of the future.

They Have to sign Ojulari to a team friendly contract now with Thibodeaux's 5th year option coming up in Spring 2025.
A healthy Ojulari is better than Thibodeaux ... Letting O go and having T bust would be devastating

Looks like a subtle way to tank
Yeah i'm surprised with Josh Ezeudo and Chris Hubbard having All-pro seasons that they would take a chance on their 7th pick in the 2022 draft ... how weird?
The only problem is that they wont admit that they ****ed up and let him play LT

We need to lose this game. This is what’s best for our future.
Jones is doing everything he can to make a loss happens as is the run defense
Tank for Cam should be our theme moving forward.
I don't think they are tanking, they just suck. They are an embarrassment of an organization.
I have no confidence that they are capable of making the right decisions with better draft picks.
