Diana Russini (sp) is saying the Giants will focus on Aaron Rodgers.

I'm ok with Rodgers. Getting him SHOULD prevent Schoen from doing the dumb thing which is trading up for a QB.
If they like Ward or Sanders and they fall to 3, I'm fine with them taking whichever one they like, but do not trade up!!!

Agreed. I understand WHY they're interested in trying it (Daboll and Schoen on the hot seat much like JD and Saleh were) but the ceiling of this "working" is very very limited, and potentially sets the franchise back somewhat significantly. ::ducksfromJoeBryantcallingmeahater::

Can't help but wonder if this would even be breathed about if this was a stronger QB class. I think if this was last years QB class THIS year, they'd be slam dunk drafting someone and giving Daboll the chance to develop 'his guy.' Signing Rodgers, it's just year-to-year desperation mode.

Seems foolish from an outside perspective doesn’t it (Rogers)? However with jobs on the line I doubt anyone in the organization has a desire to kick another season to the curb completely. Even though that is really the best choice for this squad (considering the competition they have in division as well as the numerous needs on roster).

The Giants were very much in the mix and one source told me the plan for the Giants was to BOTH trade for Stafford AND trade up to get a QB.

I’ve been told that Rodgers is now looking at three options, ranked here in order of likeliness as it was told to me: First, go to the New York Giants. Second, go to the Tennessee Titans. Third, stay in shape and wait for an injury/opening on a winning team with playoff chances.

Still need a guard and obviously QB is the elephant in the room, but feel like they’ve plugged a lot of holes and added some depth in areas that killed them last year. Hopefully Oline is a big focus in the draft as I don’t really like Hudson and that swing tackle spot has been a huge liability last few years.

Wonder if all this investment means they are saving draft capital to make a big move up for QB. They’d clearly need to overpay Tennessee to move up at this point, and honestly, I think the titans are getting locked in on Cam regardless of the offers.

Looking more like Russell Wilson or maybe they go after Cousins. The way the roster is constructed, adding a vet like that only hurts them as they will win some games that will hurt their draft status next year. Unfortunately the coach and GM are sitting on a burner and will do whatever they can to claw some victories.

Holland is a good player, but they should have just kept McKinney. Last year McKinney had 8 INTs while the Giants as a team had 5. Just one of many good, homegrown players Schoen let walk for nothing. These holes he's filling are of his own making. Mara said he kept Schoen because he likes his plan. I don't really see a particularly good plan here. They're just filling holes he created in the 1st place. These are standard FA signings IMO. Still no plan for a QB and still need to fix the O-line, both of which are positions that have been issues Schoen hasn't been able to fix in his time as GM, not just for this year.

I know he won't do it because he needs to win now, but I would like to see them trade down from 1.03 and pick up an extra 1st for next year along with anything else they can get. I would rather take O-line or CB in the 1st and take one of the 2nd tier QBs like Dart or Shough or McCord in the 2nd or trade up a few spots into the late 1st if needed. I wouldn't mind taking a QB in the 2nd and then if someone like McCord falls to the 4th take another QB there too. I don't want to waste 1.03, or even worse trade up, on Ward. I don't think there's a big difference between him and the 2nd tier QBs, even if Ward is currently the clear #1 QB.

ETA - I'm glad they kept Slayton and he got a market value contract after dealing with the way they treated him when they make him take a pay cut. He's been a solid player who whould put up better numbers with a better QB. He's also been a high character teammate, which I think has a lot of value.
