2024 New York Football Giants (hello darkness my old friend) (8 Viewers)

NFL Offensive Line Rankings 2025: Insights Into All 32 OLs

March 13, 2025 | 4:05 PM EDT

28) New York Giants

Regular-Season Grade: 62.5 (D-)

The New York Giants seem to have had as many of these disastrous seasons as any other NFL team. Their offensive line was a big part of the problem in 2024, and it’s been an issue for a few seasons now.

New York’s pressure rate overall this season was 28th (38.4%), even though their quarterbacks don’t hold the ball that long (2.76 time to throw). The pressure numbers are ugly, whether against the blitz or not, and their sack rate suggests that their quarterbacks might actually have been making things look better when escaping pressure and making plays.

The run game wasn’t too bad (0.87 RBYBC/rush; 20th), but the Giants found themselves in such huge holes that they had to throw often to try and keep up, mitigating their run game success.

It seems like we’ve been saying for a year that the Giants need to improve their offensive line. They’ve tried, but it hasn’t worked to this point.

For that reason, it’s a surprise that both Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will be back again in 2025. While QB play is important, OL improvement is where this pair should be judged next season as much as anything.

This "plan" that Mara said he liked and was the reason why he kept Schoen... what is it exactly? Rodgers or trade up at QB? No thanks to both. No real fixes to the o-line either. I guess he disagrees with literally everyone else about the state of the o-line. It's not the 1st offseaon where he's failed to materially change the o-line.

The Plan is to mortage the Giants future to trade up for Ward ... which wouldnt be the worst plan if the Giants had built an Oline
But they didn't and Ward is doomed and Schoen and Daboll will be gone

I'm flat out confused by what the Giants are doing this offseason
The have addded 12 FAs total including 3 of their own ... Of those 12 only 2 are expected to be starters
  • 2 Starters (Holland and Adebo)
  • 3 of their own (slaton, 35 year old undersized Van Rotten, Smith-Marsett)
  • 7 depth pieces
That is a whole lot of movement and money and not a whole lot to show for it.
This would make perfect sense if the Giants starters were loaded and we were lacking depth
But the Giants starters suck and we are backing them up with worse players ???? What kind of thinking is this ????
Screw the 4 ****ty D'Lineman - Take that money and sign Joey Bosa or any difference maker
Screw the 3 ****ty O'linemen - Take the Money and Get the Best G or RT available ... Did Van Rotten, James Hudson III and Stone Forsythe make the Giants Oline any better???

Giants Fail to Gain Ground in New Power Rankings Poll

For all the moves the New York Giants have made during the first week of free agency, Pro Football Network, in its newest power rankings poll, believes the Giants have gained little to no traction ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

PFN ranked the Giants No. 30, just ahead of the Tennessee Titans (31st) and the Cleveland Browns (32nd).

is this a projection or just a recap of 2024? they have the jets listed with ty smith at LT, so it definitely doesn’t seem like a projected ranking.

Not really sure ... But in the case of the Giants ... they are returning the same fabulous 5 that they had last season
In other words ... The Giants Oline will continue to suck

I'd like the Giants to trade back and take Milroe ... I think he has as much upside as anyone
Or better yet grab Carter or Hunter with the 3rd pick and then trade back into the first to get Milroe
He'd immediately be the best or 2nd best Running QB in the NFL maybe one of the best runners period in the NFL.
His highlights are awesome and certainly has a great arm
He's going to go in the 1st round ... I dont care what anyone says
When all is said and done he might be top 15-20

Could be a Lamar Jackson type steal of the draft

He's another player Schoen could have traded but instead let walk for free.
To the Eagles no less ... I actually would have signed Ojulari and traded Thibodeaux
I personally think Thibodeaux is a bust

What a great draft from that was from Gettleman.

LOL! Holy **** was that bad!

The Giants finally brought in jamies Winston for a visit Tuesday. If the Giants were smart they won't let him leave w/o a deal. He's the highest upside vet QB on the market that actually would be a good leader and has mobility, and he'd elevate Nabers tremendously.

Russell Wilson would probably be a better leader/ball protector, but there isn't much upside left with him. Joe Flacco is probably the most immobile QB out there and really would need a solid line to produce. Aaron Rodgers? HAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHA-

*pauses for an extra breath*

AAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Yep Jameis will keep things exciting and ensure that we will not win too many games like Rodgers or Wilson
I'll take 30 Tds 30 Ints ... See what our WR's could do with someone who could throw and still get a top 8-10 pick next year
It's sad and dicouarging what this team has become

I want Winston
I don't wany Flacco
I don't want Rogers
I don't want Wilson
I don't want Ward
I don't want Sanders
Got that Joe?
Joe??
JOE!!!!!!!

It almost feels like Schoen is going to draft a QB. The shark move is to draft either Carter/Hunter, suck really bad, get the #1 pick and draft the top guy next year.

100% ... The worst thing the Giants could possibly do is trade up ... that would be pouring gasoline on the Eternal Dumpster Fire
  • I was all for going after Justin Fields and /or Zach Wilson.
  • I'd be for Jameis at a discounted price contingent upon having money left to sign Becton or Robinson
  • I would love to trade for Joe Milton at a reasonable price (i.e 3rd compensatory pick)
  • I'd be be Open to trading for Richardson for the same or a 4th rd pick
  • Draft Carter if he is available and then trade Thibodeaux
  • If Carter is not available Draft Hunter and potentially trade Banks
  • Trade back into the 1st to grab Milroe (a 2nd and 3rd? or 2nd or 3rd plus Thibodeaux or Banks
  • Get rid of Tommy Devito forever

Normally I agree with you. Schoen and Dabolic are on a make it or break it year. If they don't make it rain this season. Then there most likely going to be fired.

None of the remaining QB options will lead to much success with their current oline. Drafting a QB high may buy them another year, so that’s what I expect them to do. Not the right move imo, but that’s how it usually works.

I love OL articles
Trying to find ones that are done thoroughly is a tall task
Good link, thanks!

The most important concern IMO is the rumors Schoen is going to take Sanders at 1.03. That would be a huge mistake. Trade down if they want a QB and Ward is gone. You can't pass on elite prospects like Carter or Hunter and instead take a 2nd round quality player.

Giants are making it real hard for this lifelong Eagles fan and Giants hater to actually hate on them. They keep letting us get decent players from them and are frankly one of the worst teams in the league for a while now. I can't believe the GM kept his job after this last year, and they don't seem to have any viable plan right now

This is exactly what I have been preaching
Take the Elite Talent in Carter or Hunter
Trade Back into the 1st rd to take a QB later it will take much less draft capital and you would have either Thibodeux or Banks as trade bait (depending on who you draft) to move back into the 1st or for a later trade

Todd McShay mock draft: Travis Hunter AND a QB to New York Giants in Round 1

This seems like a great idea and to be honest I think its going to take Tennessee and Cleveland to take the QB's off the board for this to happen because it seems like the Giants are in love with Sanders.
I get that it's lying season but they do sure seem like they are in love with him.

It's weird that the smoke says Giants may sign another vet QB as much as draft one. I mean it'd indicate they would draft Hunter at #3 or trade the pick, but it's an odd move considering they aren't not close to contention. You wouldn't sign two vet QBs if you are going to draft a rookie QB, right?

I can see them signing Wilson or Flacco and still drafting a QB on the 2nd day to develop. DeVito's roster spot isn't assured. He will probably wind up on the practice squad.

I hope the plan is to draft either Carter or Hunter at 3, Dart, Milroe or Slough in the 2nd round.

According to the guys in the Joe Milton thread, the Patriots would want a 3rd round pick to move him.
The Giants have 2 3rd round picks in this draft (one is compensatory).
Would you move one of them for Milton?

Joe Milton was a 6th round pick in 2024. He has potential due to mobility and arm strength. He has had accuracy issues. New England is asking for a 3rd round pick doesn't mean they'll be offered a 3rd. I'd love to see the Steeler's offer a 4th. I didn't see the week 18 game against the Bills. But there was a lot of hype about Joe as a result of the game he had.

Joe Milton Week 18 Replay: Every Pass and Run vs Buffalo Bills

Jesus Christ, YES. He's throwing darts effortlessly and that was his rookie year. 6'5, 240+ and moves like that? I'd trade a 4th for him. The thing I like besides the mutant arm strength is he's not oblivious in the pocket ad looks to pass as long as possible before taking off.

The Frankman thanks for posting that replay. If Joe did one thing wrong by winning the game, he cost the Patriots potentially the first pick of the draft. He looked pretty accurate to me. I'm now convinced that he deserves an opportunity to start more so than the over the hill gang of Rodgers, Wilson, or name another QB close to the cliff.

absolutey the compensatory pick ... dont think i would do our 3rd pick because it's basically late 2nd

Yes
Long answer
Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Another question for my fellow Giants fans.
If the Titans & Browns both take QB's at 1 & 2.
Who do you want the Giants to take at #3?
Carter?
Hunter?
Someone else?
