2024 New York Football Giants (hello darkness my old friend) (4 Viewers)

Think you're all being a little hard on Schoen. From watching Hard Knocks, it's apparent that they know they need a new QB, but they just couldn't trade up high enough to get the guy they wanted. Based on their performance this week, it looks like next year they'll be in a position to get the guy they want.

By my count they had 10 plays in the redzone, only one time did they throw the ball into the end zone. Pick.

Saw this stat elsewhere:

In his last 3 home games, including yesterday, Daniel Jones has thrown only three touchdowns.
Each of them has been to the other team.
Giants put up 9pts total in those games.

Year 6.

Sir, I'd like to get off this ride now.

Beat writers are pointing out that on defense Isaiah Simmons didn't log any snaps yesterday, despite practicing with the 1's all offseason.
Flott played in the slot for most of the game despite not practicing there all summer AND the rookie Dru Phillips received a high PFF grade in his limited snaps in the slot yesterday.
WTF is this coaching staff doing?

Throwing the season away for Shedeur Sanders?

Sanders may have too much personality for the Giants ownership group, but they will take a QB in the 1st round of the next draft.

Dex only played 2/3 of the snaps ... and when he was out the Defense got gashed ! You don't sit your best/highest paid def player for a 1/3 of the game
Bellinger played 12% of the snaps because Schoen and Daboll are shoving Theo Johnson (68%) down our throats
Hyatt (who appears to be another bust ) played 10 snaps

Is there any decent FA QBs out there? At this point should we look to trade for someone that might be available?
Ryan Tannehill
Is he better than Drew Locke?
I think Tannehill is a decent QB ... Way better than Dimes has been lately
Lock sux but he can't be any worse than Dimes has been ... give him a shot. They should split reps in pratice this week and If Dimes ****z the bed immediatly, yank him for Lock
and if Lock ****z the bed ... Tommy Cutlets

I get the feeling D.J. is like that race horse who puts up top numbers in morning workouts
Gets the betting publics attention, and then sh!ts the bed when the real race is run in the afternoon.
All the reports from camp were how good he looked. How well he was hitting the deep ball. How well he was running. How healthy he was.
And then Sunday happens.
Maby time to put him in a cheap claiming race and move on.

Yeah DJ has looked aweful on the field since the Viking playoff win
Since then 8 games
TDs - 2
INTs- 9
Pick 6 - 3
Fumbles - 5
Passing Tds - in only 1 of last 8 games (Cardinals)

Lawrence Taylor’s sad message to Carl Banks as they watched Giants in horror

If you want to know what we [the 100 greatest Giants] were thinking at halftime,” Banks said.
“Lawrence looked at me at halftime and said, ‘Carl, I could pick 22 of us right now and go out and play better than these guys. We’d be in this game.’ The youngest guy in that line was probably 50 years old. Lawrence Taylor looked at me and said, ‘I can get 22 of us right now and go out there right now and whoop these guys’ ***.’”

The OLine appeared to play better today. Jones seemed to be more willing to throw the ball. That is the extent of my positive take aways.

It was Washington. I am not sure how much was the Giants as opposed to the weak opponent. The end of the game was 100% predictable. I walked away, knowing how the game was going to end. I came back... and ta-da. Sigh. I really don't see any try improvement.

Defense 5 sacks, 10 TFLs, 7 QB hits. That's a really nice day.

Jones no INTs, only took 1 sack.

Still in the running for the #1 pick.

Lot of positives.

Washington had no punts. 5 sacks is nice and all. But they never got off the field. So they never followed up on those hits.

That’s why they say stats can be misleading. The Giants defense never forced the Commanders to punt. The Commanders scored on 7 possessions.
I liked what I saw out of the rookie DB Dru Phillips. He was all over the place and had a nice game.

These were two of the more winnable games the Giants had and they went 0-2.

@ Browns 9/22 1:00 pm FOX
vs Cowboys 9/26 8:15pm TNF
@Seahawks 10/6 4:25pm CBS
vs Bengals 10/13 8:20pm NBC
vs Eagles 10/20 1:00pm FOX
@Steelers 10/28 8:15pm ESPN

They may go 0-8 before facing the Commanders again...

Vikings beat the 9ers ... maybe they weren't as beatable as we think

Fire the entire staff now.
Daboll made the same mistake last year with a Gano injury.
Obviously he didn't learn from it.
This regime is totally inept from Schoen on down.
Fire them all now.
Bring Belichick back.

Good redzone defense.

5 false starts in the redzone by the Commanders.

Nice to see our former OL coach Bobby Johnson is working his magic for the Commanders these days.

So The Panthers will have the #1 pick next year, assuming they don't trade it away,do you think they go qb?
Then The Giants will be at #2,obviously they go qb.
But do you trust Schoen to not screw it up?
Or does he,and probably Daboll, need to go before next years draft?
Inquiring minds want to know.

  • If the Giants sign a decent kicker ... I think they win at least 6-7 games this season
  • They'll surprise and take 2-3 of the next 6
  • This week was a pretty dramatic improvement form Week1 to Week 2
  • It turns out the Viking kicked the 9ers asses and Darnald was arguably better against the 9ers D
  • Giants would have beaten WAS if not for the Kicker getting injured on the first play of the game or Ironically Nabers dropping the easiest catch of the day
  • This years draft has looked fantastic so far with Nabers,Nubin and Phillips

I appreciate your optimism.
3 of the next 6 puts them on pace for another 6 win season.
There are pieces there.
But I've lost faith in Schoen and Daboll.
Daboll is making the same mistakes over and over.
Schoen looks like he's in over his head.
I was at the game many years ago when fans were burning their season tickets,
and the airplane flew over the stadium pulling a banner that read"15 Years of Lousy Football,We've had Enough"
And the fans who were there,me included, started chanting.."We've had Enough!"
I feel now as I felt then, lost in the wilderness.
On the positive side after that game the entire front office and coaching staff were fired.
George Young was hired as G.M.
And the rest,as they say,is history.

I am not ready to throw Schoen out, just yet. I am getting tired of the Bills' hand-me-downs. He's had some decent draft picks. I do like what I am seeing in Phillips. Nabers is the real deal. So that is good. The OLine is better in the first two games. So I am happy to see that. They've been able to hold a pocket and open up some run lanes. Faint praise, it would have been impossible to be any worse than they were last year. So mixed bag there.

I agree that Daboll seems a bit lost. He wastes his challenges on stupid meaningless things. He plays hurt players which is leading them to be more hurt. His game plans are seemingly lacking.

I am not ready to claim that Giants did enough to win the game. That D wasn't stopping anything. FGs got it done, cause they could. If the game needed a TD, I am sure the Giants D was going to give it up. They've been toothless when it mattered. I'll feel better when they start getting off the field and stop giving up 3rd and it doesn't really matter all game long.

This is a brutal team to root for right now. So little hope.

DC radio just said NYG only had 52 rostered for the game and could have brought up the K on the practice squad just in case Gano's contuning injury happened again. Which it did. If that’s true Schoen should have been fired last night. He is running your franchise even deeper into the ground..

I'd put that on the coach but agree on Schoen anyway

Amazing what a difference a decent Oline and real WR makes !
Giants look like they are getting better every week

Week 1 - Looked Terrible ... Caught off Guard by currently the best team in the NFL
Week 2 - Totally outplayed the Skins and would have easily have won had their kicker not goten hurt on the first play of the game
Week 3 - Looked totally Dominant on both sides of the ball for 1 half after spotting Cleveland (great Def) 7 pts at home. Still could have been 28-8 from that point on if Singletary didnt slide

Jones looks pretty good and should start landing some of the deep balls that are just missing ... That happens after not throwing deep for 3 years
Nabers is phenominal and Robinson is looking great ... TE's started to get involved today with a couple of catches
Offensive play calling was much much better today
Defense really came around ... D line was dominant today. Dexy, Burns, Thibadeaux and Ojalari were awesome ... each of them had huge plays today
Michah Mcfadden is tuff as hell ... getting new inuries every game and playing through them
Rookie UDFA Chatman had a nice sack

Downside
Deante Banks absolutely sux ! He cant cover any decent WR 1 on 1
Phillips and Slayton got injured ... hopefully minor
Running game kinda stunk but came up big a couple of times when needed
Special teams has been terrible. They need to stop making big mistakes and step it up ... Right now best case is they dont screw up

The defense had the Browns confused most of the day because they blitzed a lot. Shane Bowen’s defense isn’t known for bringing pressure so I guess that is why they were surprised.
I thought they should have started doubling Cooper instead of leaving Banks on an island with him.
It was nice to see Azeez making some plays on defense.

On offense I’m concerned with Singletary putting the ball on the ground. This makes the second week in a row that he has lost a fumble. The Giants might have beat Washington if he didn’t lose the fumble against them.
Jones looked great in the 1st half. He wasn’t as sharp in the 2nd half but he didn’t turn the ball over so that is a good thing. And he seems like he is navigating the pocket a little bit better too.
Nabers is a stud! Good to see them getting Wan’Dale involved more, he is a great route runner and gets open often. I’d like to see the TE’s more involved.
So far I like what I see from the OL.

That was easily the best game they've played in a year. It was nice to see. I was worried that the OLine's improvement was a mirage. So far, they've continued to play better. Finally. Gotta say I didn't have much sympathy for the Browns when they had to start shuffling Oline guys around.

The DLine had some bite. This also falls into the "about time" bucket.

I'll need to see this repeated a few more times before I believe they've actually turned the corner.

I was upset when I saw Banks playing Cooper so far off Cooper on the TD. As soon as I saw it I thought "Oh! This won't end well..."

So by how much do we beat The Boyz Thursday Night?
20? 30? 1?

If the gameplan isn't run, run and more run against them, your coaches should all be fired.
If only it were that simple ...
Alvin Kamara, Derrick Henry , and Lamar Jackson ran all over Dallas
We dont have anything like them ... and if we get behind ... run isnt an option
But we do have the best receiver they've faced this year.
And Daniel can run a bit.
And Singletary is no slouch.
Totally agree the gameplan should be run,run and more run and get the ball to Malik.
Boyz have been very vulnerable up the middle.
Run Singletary off tackle, run quarterback draws with Daniel, bring Robinson in motion and run between the tackles
And then take a few deep shots to Malik.
Don't abandon the run if the first series is three and out, stay with it.
Let's at least make this game into the fourth quarter
And then....ya neva know.

Disgusting loss. How can you not run the ball against Dallas?

How in the heck do you leave the one weapon that they have alone on an island?

Slayton and Wan’Dale with big drops.

And the refs.
