**2024 New York Jets official thread** - 2-2 after same old Jet trap game loss - onto London with Darnold revenge game (8 Viewers)

Not much more to add. A consummate Jets performance - coming off a big dominating win against a hated rival, big time favorites at home against a rookie QB that was struggling to generate any kind of offense. Why did we expect that they would actually win this game?

tough to continue to care about this team, it is groundhog day time and time agan
somehow, i always get sucked in spending $200 or so being out of market to watch this ****show. i swore off them during the wilson years, but it’s hard to remove 50 years of fandom. just a horribly managed organization from head to toe. usually, horribly coached. how this was their effort after a 10 day hiatus is all on saleh, whose time has come. in season changes are brutal and there really is no one to elevate. cause if saleh goes, hackett can’t be elevated. that leaves ulbrich? ugh. what a mess. at least it’s been fun watching reddick on the edge, ooops. and all i read and hear is that quinnen williams is all world and this and that. man, sometimes he just seems to be inactive to me. when they are being gashed in the run game, i don’t even notice him. lots of blame to go around, but there is no offensive imagination and i don’t think saleh understands that each game has both offense and defense, ala rex. but rex got 2 teams to the conf final.

Well I called it a trap game and man did they get caught into the trap. Perfect storm literally as it poured on all of us fans dumb enough to sit through one of the the worst game I can remember and thats saying something.

QB: I stayed to the bitter end because this is what Rodgers does - team plays awful and he finds a way to win it at the end. Not with the Jets. As in command as he looked last week he looked uncomfortable, out of synch and rattled. Cant blame the elements as the guy played a decade in Green Bay. Welcome to the Jets Aaron

OL - bad day - awful run blocking and let Rodgers get hit a ton. Denver has a decent D but that was awful job by the OL. Couldnt tell if the rookie was an issue but not good enough

RB: Hall looked slow and indecisive. Didnt get a lot to work with but dropped balls and looked completely out of sorts. Maybe the kid doing so well has given him the yips. As for Allen the kid looked awesome again and needs to see the ball more especially short yardage. Breece has trouble in sort years and as much as it will kill his fantasy value its time to let Allen take over that job

WR - GW blanketed by Surtain. Williams had a solid day and should only get better - but they need another weapon badly. While Lazard is functional he is not good and Gibson needs to ride pine - how bad can Corley be to be sitting behind this guy. They traded to the top of the 3rd for him and were chirping that they would have taken him in the 2d - then play him! Another indictment on JD

TE: Conklin showed his break out was 1 week only....Ruckert is not a bad blocking TE who can give you a once and while play

Def - cant complain - held them to 10 pts. Gotta win - loss on the O and coached

Coaches - All of us here said it from last year - this coaching staff isa the worst in the NFL. Literally awful. Saleh somehow never wins when he has extra time to prepare. Plays down to his competition. A slew of undisciplined penalties that he glosses over as self inflicted wounds that they need to work on - even Rodgers scoffed at that and said its time to hold people accountable for them - ya think? We were hoping Rodgers could rise above the coaching concerns - I dont think thats possible with the worst HC and OC in the league. Not sure where to go from here as Woody doesnt fire coaches in season and I cant see Rodgers wanting to fire him in season so here we are. Gotta cross fingers and hope for the best.

This is the one I don't get. Conklin thrived with Zach under center. Got open short and bulled his way to nice gains. I thought Rodgers would LOVE this guy, but he's an afterthought,

Rodgers insists on making his boy Lazard the star of the offense - it's the last guy the offense should feature.

I know Rodgers gives us hope, and he's the best QB we've seen on this team in years but the guy has done just as much damage to this franchise as good with brining in his good ol' boy network, which includes the worst OC in the league.

All good points - the worst is the team is in complete limbo with him. Seriously doubt that he'll want to start over with a new coaching staff so either he'll retire after one year and the team is stuck without a QB or we are stuck with his coaching band of misfits for yet another year. Perhaps he would come back if his buddy McCarthy gets fired by Dallas and comes in as OC or HC but then Jets are stuck with another lousy coach.

Doesnt seem to be a good way out of this mess so no choice but to root that Rodgers gets hot and carries this mess.

Yes, I really don't like much about him personally, but the team's success is tied to him so its not like I won't root for him.

He's held them hostage in many ways. I guess we should be grateful that Randall Cobb was so embarrassingly bad last year that even Rodgers couldn't get him another season or we would be dealing with that slug as well.

Lazard isn't horrible - and if Aaron wants to make him his go to guy on short third downs, that's fine - but he should be 4th option at best in the passing game.

I actually thought the same on Sunday. Now Lazard is his go to guy? ugh. Yet we keep ignoring GW. Hard to fathom. Almost as much as not using Allen from the 1 yard line.

Are these coaches freaking idiots? yes, apparently so, but I/we have known this for a few seasons.

To be fair - GW was Surtained and has been covered by some pretty good CBs that shut down a lot of top WRs. However - a good OC would find ways to get him the ball. Move him around/etc - OC just doesnt have any clue. I think GW gets hot in the next few games - if not hes costing himself a ton of $

Seems like Devante Adams is in play for a 2d....why the heck not. Jets have an extra 3rd next year anyway and they rarely hit on 2d rders anyway - and its an all in year. would take the pressure off GW and Aaron would love it. Maybe they could include Reddick

i would be very surprised if Adams isnt a Jet in the next 2 weeks.

That being said....does it REALLY solve the problem? I dont think Garrett Wilson all of a sudden starts playing better once Aaron starts throwing all the balls to his BFF. Now, maybe those miscommunications that stalled out some drives on Sunday go away, which would obviously help.

But its still Hackett calling the plays and Saleh running things. And they still cant stop the run.

They're gonna do it and I'm not saying they shouldn't. I just dont think it gets us anywhere. Lack of pass catching options is not this team's problem.

Also just a horrible use of resources drafting Corley and signing Williams if this all goes down.

speaking of Wilson - comments he made below were brutal and a complete indictment of the coaching staff. Things better change quick or he's going to check out mentally. If Devante comes it would likely help him a lot as he wont get as much attention. Wilson looking like a 1b rather than an alpha so far

"I don’t think we do a lot of different stuff to be honest. I watch football on Sundays and I see a lot of teams mix it up and stuff like that. I don’t think we do that. I think we know our identity. It’s just about going out and executing it or figuring out if it’s going to work. I don’t think we’re trying a lot of different things.

“I know, personally, my route tree hasn’t been what it has been the last two years as far as the stuff I’ve been running. It’s just about figuring out if it's the right identity and whether it’s going to win games.”

we've been saying this for years in here, unfortunately.

yep - but for a player - and one of the core ones at that - to say it is pretty impactful

Maybe Elijah Moore was right in the first place. He has since seemed to check out as a player entirely, but looked really good as a rookie and got frustrated (probably too quickly).

Probably correct but Elijah bad example - hes tanked even in Cleveland.

Jets have a history on not developing WRs - Corley is the newest indictment. They crowed about how he was the 4th best WR on their board and would have drafted him in the 2d rd yet he cant beat out an awful Gibson.

Im at the point where i think they are barely getting snaps off because Rodgers is vetoing several of the awful plays from the OC

Agreed on Elijah not being the best example - I think he's just not into playing football but the main point about the development of WRs has been a longstanding issue. It's a diva position for the most part and when they're not being developed, many of them just check out.

The Jets don't develop offensive skill players, period. QBs, WRs, TEs, RBs, none of them. We all live in the FF world, think of the last relevant Jets fantasy players that weren't imported as FAs? Pennington? Coles? Breece and GW5 were looking to be the exception to the rule, but now that's in question as well.

That makes sense because the Jets always have a defensive coach/staff. The last full on offensive coach they had was Bruce freaking Coslet from 1993! The NFL has been an offensive league for decades and they keep going with defensive coaches. If this thing tanks Id love for them to get the Lions OC Johnson but doubt he would touch this dumpster fire.

Note - technically Kotite and Gase were offensive coaches but they were so putrid overall I cant even count them

The players know the coaching is the problem e.g. comments by Rodgers and Wilson this week.

Hackett should be Rodgers's movie buddy, not his OC. I saw a play on third down when all three receivers basically ran into each other. They can't scheme anyone open. Every route is a struggle to get open in this design.

Then you have Saleh who is a charlatan, especially when it comes to the offense. His responses to whatever is asked by the press are terrible. He seems clueless and just spews out general cliches "we'll take a look at it and fix it". Yet it never gets fixed.

Even if we clean house with the coaching staff at the end of the year, who is coming to work for dopey Woody? Woody will just run Saleh out there again in a desperate hope to keep Rodgers around another year.

If they dont make the playoffs even if Rodgers stays he may sign off on a coaching change - Saleh is a good salesman that got Rodgers here - but I dont think he knew how bad of a HC he was.

The questions is has JD done enough to survive and pick another HC if they fire Saleh. Im much more on t he fence with JD - has not been great but miles better than the last few GMs.....not saying much!
