I don't see how Joe D can't pull the trigger, he has to be all in right nowLots of chatter about Devante to Jets closing in on a deal soon....may as well.

Let the Hackett era begin!!!Saleh fired!
OMG. Don't make me hate youLet the Hackett era begin!!!Saleh fired!
wow. didnt have that on my bingo card....especially this quickly
Rodgers gets his wish?
Breece Hall owner here... is this good news for him?

You're a special person.Just name Rodgers the HC---> you're a circus anyways
Wow. He was not near the top of my hot seat list.Saleh fired!
Agreed - we knew he was gone after this season if they missed the playoffs again, but this is not Woody's style. Have to think the locker room/management was really in danger of being lost the way things are, and Rodgers running things may have gotten a bit out of whack among many of the players. Not sure this helps - but applaud Woody for not just sticking his head in the sand and trying something.
Honestly, he probably won't be unemployed long..Wow. He was not near the top of my hot seat list.Saleh fired!
you are correct - it really doesnt change the issues except placating Rodgers most likely. Keeping both Saleh and Hackett were biggest offseason mistakesLook....we all know the issues here. Hackett is an absolute dolt. The o-line isn't blocking (to be fair....they're coached by a guy that was generally considered a bad coach....and Saleh hired him even knowing this)
But this group has consistently been undisciplined and come out flat. Clearly un-prepared after byes and extended breaks. On this issues, the buck stops with the HC. So while its weird and will cause more "LOL JETZ" narrative.....I can't say it was a bad move. He's a DC, not a HC. Good man, but not a leader of men. He's all catch phrase and no accountability.
The offense isn't going to change overnight, so unless Rodgers plays like he did against NE (or Breece starts running for 6 yards a carry again) this group isn't going anywhere.
absolutely - as a DC. Where he belongsHonestly, he probably won't be unemployed long..Wow. He was not near the top of my hot seat list.Saleh fired!
and probably not until next yearabsolutely - as a DC. Where he belongsHonestly, he probably won't be unemployed long..Wow. He was not near the top of my hot seat list.Saleh fired!
Agreed. My guess is Davante will be a Jet in short order. There is zero chance this was done without Rodgers ok - fingerprints all over this. Well Arod - its your show now
Cleveland: "Hold my beer..."What a dumpster fire this team is. So short-sighted with no continuity, consistency, plan, or identity. Trade for Rodgers, trade for Reddick, trade for Davante, and on and on. There will be a new "rebuild" next year when the current FO, coaching staff and core players are all gone. Can't wait.
For all we know, that could have been the final straw. Maybe Rodgers was politicking hard for Adams, but Saleh did not want any part of it.Agreed. obviously there was a lot going on behind the scenes which we dont know - technically JD makes the call as the GM but I honestly think this is a Woody/A-Rod decision. its comical that Hackett didnt go as well but makes sense if Arod is in control. I expect Devante is a Jet soon. For all we know, that could have been the final straw. Maybe Rodgers was politicking hard for Adams, but Saleh did not want any part of it.Agreed. fair but I dont think any Jet fan will think it was crazy and impulsive even if it didnt work out - we are more upset that it wasnt done after last season. If it doesnt work they are all gone anyway so I give Woody credit for trying something...even though it may have been forced by Rodgers.

It’s been very clear since the team overpaid Lazard and brought in the corpse of Randall Cobb, who is really in control of this team.obviously there was a lot going on behind the scenes which we dont know - technically JD makes the call as the GM but I honestly think this is a Woody/A-Rod decision. its comical that Hackett didnt go as well but makes sense if Arod is in control. No one knows for sure, but that loss to the Broncos last week probably set the wheels in motion. It was an unacceptable loss at home being big time favorites (for once) against a pretty weak team, all after shellacking the hated Patriots the week before. The London loss to the Vikings was almost certainly the straw that broke the camel's back. If they come through and beat Minnesota at the end, maybe it might have changed the narrative for the time being, but the season is in danger of spiraling out of control (again). So kudos to Woody for stepping out of his comfort zone and shaking things up.There's likely some internal strife going on behind the scenes. I dont believe he woke up this morning and made this decision himself. And its not likely to work out (at the start of the season, I would have said home playoff game was the bar.....that's not happening now). But nobody is gonna spin this as "crazy Woody jumped the gun"
Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady aren’t the only people in the NFL who grew up 49ers fans. Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has a unique connection to the San Francisco franchise. And under different circumstances this past offseason, Ulbrich would’ve been back on the 49ers’ sideline when the teams open the season on Monday Night Football (8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN/ABC).
Mike Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle wrote Saturday that Ulbrich was Kyle Shanahan’s top target following the 49ers’ 25-22 overtime loss to Kansas City in Super Bowl LVIII. Shanahan fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks and immediately called Robert Saleh for permission to pursue Ulbrich.
Shanahan met a brick wall similar to the defenses Saleh engineered for him from 2017-20 prior to leaving to become the Jets’ head coach.
“I don’t blame him,” a smiling Saleh told Silver. “He should ask. The answer was no. But I’d ask, too.”
Silver’s story is the first time both Salah and Ulbrich directly addressed Shanahan’s pursuit of Ulbrich this past February, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, who covers the Jets.
Ulbrich’s mom, Silver said, was a 49ers cheerleader at old Kezar Stadium decades before Ulbrich spent a decade patrolling San Francisco’s defense as a starting linebacker (2000-09). Ulbrich joined Pete Carroll’s first Seahawks staff in 2010, when he worked with Dan Quinn. Then, in 2015, Quinn brought Ulbrich to Atlanta, where Ulbrich met Quinn’s new offensive coordinator, Shanahan.
Cimini on ESPN radio confirms this was a Woody call 100%. Woody was furious after the Denver loss and the Minny loss sealed the deal.
