**2024 New York Jets official thread** - not dead quite yet! (1 Viewer)

rodgers gonna throw for 300/3 every week now, because it was the coach holding him back.

for sure.

Maybe they can trade three first round draft picks for Watson and then pay him more than any QB in history fully guaranteed.

No, wait no team would ever be dumb enough to do that.
Octopus is so salty lol----> its ok that the J-E-T-S are a J-O-K-E... The sun will still come up tomorrow.

Maybe Rodgers will get hurt again or retire and you can get Arch Manning or the Riola kid in a few years

Saleh wearing that Lebanese flag on his arm was his downfall … must have known he was getting canned before he did that … getting fired this early on the job …
This is a bad take. 1. He's Lebanese 2. He wore it last season as well. If they were 4-1 he could wear whatever flag he damn well wanted.
I thought he was an American?
Yawn, he's a first generation Lebanese-American. Again, he wore it last year as part of the heritage program. 330 coaches and players wore flags representing their cultural origins.

There are plenty of us Jets diehards that have been discussing the team for years now. We've got our own discontent as fans - no need for people to jump in the thread for the sole purpose of rubbing it in.

So who do Jets fans want for a HC?

Ulbricht?
Belichik?
Vrabel?

Someone else? (Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn, Bobby Slowik, etc?)

Much of it will depend on how the season and off-season go.

Honestly, I think they're probably gonna finish 9-8, miss the playoffs and everyone will absolutely crucify Hackett. They'll have no choice but to fire him and my guess is Rodgers decides to hang it up.

At that point, its a full rebuild and I'm not sure it matters who the coach is.

If they draft another QB and let a defensive minded HC be the one in charge of their development I will probably have an aneurysm.

This is great. Coach fired after 2 straight losses, and not having respect of a star player.

Hopefully Tomlin is next.

Currently the 11th highest paid avg/year and 10th largest contract.

Why you bringing up 3yrs ago?
Figured maybe you forgot the mess you root for when running in here to take a ****.

Firing a good coach for a washed up hippie of a qb is, surprisingly, something we haven't yet done.
Good coach :lmao:
His record indicates that he's almost as good as Raheem Morris and slightly better than Romeo Crennel. What's not good about that?
I lay down my King.

It’s too early to say. If somehow Ulbricht turned things around and the Jets went to AFC Championship game (I am fully aware how unlikely that is) then they’d run it back.

It’s hard to know who will be available but Vrable is of course enticing.

Saleh is one of those guys that's going to pop up somewhere as a terrific DC and he will be much happier on the field and off.
I hope so. He’s actually a very good man and sometimes a guy has to fail to take that next step. He failed here, but with most things Jets he wasn’t exactly set up to succeed - up until maybe this season.

Classic case of a guy who is a great coordinator but a lousy head coach. There’s a long list of them. He won’t be unemployed for long. I’d hire him as my DC tomorrow.

Id love a young offensive coach like Johnson but way premature - Ulbrich has a chance to take the job if he makes the playoffs which is still very possible
I think Johnson has turned down HC interviews because he’s waiting for the right spot. It’s hard to believe the Jets would be the right spot given….well you know.

You all can try and rally around the DC but I think a much better move would be Mike Vrabel and I mean right the bleep now
If you think this guy Jeff is going to make it as a head coach or was just being held back and need a chance like this...you got very little time with Rodgers

Interim coaches and deep playoff runs do not typically happen
You got 12 weeks left, not sure Rodgers is going to be your QB in '25
I would push more chips into the middle and get someone who knows how to win.
Vrabel went to an AFCC with Tannehill, anything is possible I guess

To be fair, that’s done in most corporate settings as well.
Obviously unnecessary and embarrassing though.
Every company I have ever worked for will have security escort you out. They would be insane not to. All you need is one disgruntled employee going postal to regret the “optics.”
According to Florio, it's very much not standard procedure in the NFL:

"That didn’t happen, we’re told, when the Jets fired Saleh’s predecessor, Adam Gase.

It’s not unprecedented, but it’s unusual. The Browns did it to G.M. George Kokinis in 2009. If there have been others in the past 15 years, I’m not currently remembering who and when they were.

For high-level employees of any organization, it’s a bad look. It’s a power play, plain and simple."

So just the Browns and the Jets have done it. Pretty good indication it's a stupid idea.

Yes, this season... When his star QB decided to humilate and undermine him in the offseason by taking a steaming dump on his mandatory camp.
Definitely set up to succeed this year.

If you’re capable of an intelligent conversation like most that came in here, I’m willing to have it. If you want to troll because you think you can try and make it seem like another team is even more dysfunctional than the dumpster fire you choose to root for than just find another of the 50 “dump on the Jets” topics already on the board and let the adults handle this one.

Rodgers is an oddball who is tough to root for. You root for a rapist - but you don’t see me in the Browns topic calling you a slime ball for supporting that slime ball. Worry about yourself dude.

The reason I stay out of the Sharkpool is to avoid drivel like you’re spilling all over in here. There’s three topics about Saleh being fired (for some reason) why don’t you take your dumps in there so we don’t have to smell it in a thread where fans discuss actual football.

I support a terrible franchise, that has always been terrible and likely always will be.

I'm good with that.

You're getting awfully emotional about this topic. Which IS the jets, by the way. Another highly disfunctional club.

But why not discuss my point? What CHANCE (your words btw) did Saleh have when his star QB took a dump on his face in the offseason?

How does a locker room rally for a guy who can't even get his QB to show up when it's MANDATORY?

Guys on Sirius were talking about this last night. Sounds like Saleh wanted to take offensive play calling away from Hackett, and the owner decided he'd rather fire his head coach then let him make, you know, coaching decisions related to his staff. One could infer that the owner is more interested in giving Rodgers what he wants then giving his coach the ability to, ya know, coach.

It's fairly obvious Rodgers' fingerprints are all over this - but still, objectively (for those of us that watch the games) firing Saleh was not undeserved.

Both the leader of the offense and the leader of the defense publicly stated last week that the players are not being held responsible by their HC for their mistakes - he was losing the locker-room and would have been fired at season's end.

This move may not work out but it was necessary to try and save the season - a season in which the Jets are already "all-in". Other than a good man losing his job (but he still gets paid), it was really a no-brainer from a football perspective.

In season firings almost never work but after the last few games it had to be done. Should have been done in the offseason and paying the price now.

Ulrich is a very respected up and coming HC prospect. If the defense doesnt dip then its clear he had as big a hand in it as Saleh. If he goes on a run and gets in and wins a playoff game then by all means run it back.

My big fear is they eke into the playoffs, lose a tough WC game and run it back where the wheels fall off - Rodgers retires and now they are stuck with another defensive HC trying to develop a young QB which we've seen the Jets just cant do.

I heard the same report, and that just sounds nuts to me. Hackett deserves to be fired, and Rodgers is at the end of his career. I get that Saleh isn't the greatest HC in the world and maybe the Jets did need to make a change there anyway, but imagine picking a below-average OC and a diminished QB over your HC. So weird.

I'm going to assume that those employees did not have a guaranteed contract for close to 10 million over the next 2 years? There is a huge difference from getting fired from 99% of jobs and getting fired from one where you are still guarnteed money over the coming years

Rodgers on Pat McAfee now praising Salah as a great family man and human being. Sad he's gone with a lot of emotions going on. He wants everyone to appeal to humanity and be nice and all these accusations towards him is false and ridiculous and believe he has that power he said he does not.

Imagine getting paid millions of dollars while you can get away from toxic situation and hang with all your young children.

As with past episodes of The Aaron Rogers Experience... I usually end up believing Rogers, and the reasons he has for not wanting to speak to mainstream media are well-founded.

I'm not a religious man. Far from it, but Praise be, sweet baby Jesus and thank you for:

1. Firing Saleh
2. Replacing Hackett with Downing
3. Vanquishing our enemies in Philadelphia. Let's go Mets!
4. Shutting out our other Pa enemies 6-0 in a glorious Rangers win
5. Creating Sydney Sweeney and her amazing body.

Hackett's play calling days are over. Thank goodness.

I dont know a thing about Todd Downing, but he can't possibly be worse. Now Hackett can just focus on getting A-Rod's "tea" properly brewed.
This kind of puts to rest the thought that Saleh was fired because he wanted to demote Hackett and Rodgers squashed that.

Some of the trolls that like to pop in will be terribly disappointed by that.

I also see this as a win, in that it's hard to imagine he'd be worse than Hackett.

Don't worry, they will lean into their conspiracy theories harder than even Rodgers does.

Downing was OC in Tennessee. Fed Henry big time. If his MO follows through we could see the Jets become very run heavy with Hall and Allen. Difference is....can the Jets run block? LOLO This ought to sit well with the prima donna Rodgers.

Downing's the passing game coordinator with the Jets - so I'm not sure if the focus will be run heavy.

Monday pm is a very winnable game - Jets beat a much better Bills team at home last year with a much worse Jets team.
If they lay an egg in this game - after all of this, we may as well just shut this thread down until the offseason because this season becomes meaningless.

Reddick hired Drew Rosenhaus.

“We look forward to working with the Jets to get this resolved as soon as possible,” Rosenhaus said. “Haason would like to be a New York Jet for years to come and our goal is to make that happen.”

LOLZ. You'll take your 1 year 15 million dollar deal (pro-rated) and like it. Prove yourself and MAYBE we can talk in February.

Downing's resume doesnt inspire a lot of confidence but Im in the camp of it literally cant be any worse than Hackett so why not
Joe Caporoso( @jcaporoso) described it as going from eating a shoe to eating a gas station egg salad sandwich. The best thing you can say is that at least it's actually food, though you might still get sick from it.
