2024 Philadelphia Eagles - AJ’s book club read for next week: “Serenity Now” by Frank Costanza. (32 Viewers)

Very happy with this one. NOt as close as the score suggests. And on a TNF game coming off a road trip, ANY win was a good thing. Feel better about this squad overall then I did about our last Super Bowl run. This defense has been very very impressive since the last 6 weeks. Find just a little more consistency on offense and this team can hang with anybody

Wait until Bradberry gets back, then the d will...just kidding.

Can he kick?

Was an ugly win. They were whooping us early and the defense kept us in it

This defense might be the best we have seen in a while. Points and yards allowed are just ridiculous.
The coaching has taken the talent to a whole new level. I knew they’d get better with the coaching upgrade but many have they exceeded my expectations so far.

We have an elite cover corner. Not like Slay in his prime -- like Revis in his prime.

Quinyon Mitchell from PFF:

Terry McLaurin 0 targets, 0 catches, 0 yards
CeeDee Lamb: 1 target, 1 catch, 5 yards
Ja’Marr Chase: 2 targets, 2 catches, 16 yards
Malik Nabers: 2 targets, 1 catch, 9 yards
Amari Cooper: 2 targets, 1 catch, 10 yards
Mike Evans: 4 targets, 2 catches, 19 yards
Chris Olave: 2 targets, 2 catches, 23 yards
Drake London: 2 targets, 1 catch, 5 yards

He’s been absolutely incredible

Zack Baun is now 2nd in the NFL in tackles.

Howie has to make sure he’s back unless the wheels fall off the bus. He’s just all over the field.

Overall great win and we were a few quickly plays away from flat out dominating the game.

Hurts has a lot of guys open too which is a good sign. The all22 is going to look bad for him, especially in the first half but the supporting cast did a great job of backing him up.

Also, the Giants GM has to have his office cleared out by now, right?

But i ilke him giving up on plays. Yeah its alot of them but hes not forcing anything. Love it

The Giants were in a no-win situation because it doesn’t make sense for a bad team to pay big bucks to a RB.

But said GM was partly to blame for why they were a bad team.

I also know we have a long way to go but so far the “Such and such fans were happy to see Moore and Fangio go” has aged terribly. Both have been absolutely amazing so far this year with play design and maximizing talent.

Fangio deservingly is getting a ton of credit for his side of the ball but Moore has guys running open constantly as well.

I know at times I sounded like a broken record when I was criticizing the coaching last year, however, these guys so far have far exceeded my expectations

In contrast, watching Kliff manage that last 4-5 minutes, with 2 timeouts while down 16 was baffling.

So so glad we didn't get that guy in here.

Eagles are starting to give me that feel.
Agreed. Shades of '17 vibes. Defense running into the EZ and doing the choreographed celebration stuff that was big in '17 and makes me feel like whatever issues they had last year are eliminated. They are galvanizing.

That defense is really young too.

C. DeJean - 21
N. Smith - 23
Q. Mitchell - 23
J. Carter - 23
N. Dean - 24
J. Davis - 24
M. Williams - 25
R. Blankenship -25

Here’s a few more highlights

Oh and he played 100% of the snaps last night!!!
Oh snap (haha) did he now? Damn. He really is a bully out there. We have such a cool young core on defense, I really want them to get Baun done asap, but understand it might not be possible if he really wants to see his worth. Milton Williams too, but the rest of the recently drafted and/or developed guys have really set up a foundation for long term success, assuming we can sign at least some of the FA's after the season. Trying not to get ahead of myself, but Quinyon Mitchell really looks like he could be a top 5 CB really soon. Terry McLaurin came into this game 3rd in the league in yards and finished with 1 catch for 10 yards.

McLaurin’s one catch was when they finally moved him to the other side of the field. Daniels saw that he had Coop covering, not Q, and immediately went to him.

The Giants were in a no-win situation because they decided to Franchise Barkley and give Jones a multi year deal 2 years back. They should have reversed that. So they put themselves in a no-win situation by mismanaging their roster.

He’s already top 5 and maybe higher. You can’t fake the numbers against the talent he’s faced. It’s not a small sample size and these are top WR’s
McLaurin’s one catch was when they finally moved him to the other side of the field. Daniels saw that he had Coop covering, not Q, and immediately went to him.

And look at how tight that window was.

Still think DeJean is going to slide into the CJGJ role eventually.

Not if he keeps play corner like he has.

Baffling but great - the whole drive was like - sure thanks for running the clock for us!

I kept looking at the score thinking I sucked at math lol

Those stats are incredible.

To me, though, there’s still a lot of areas to clean up. Jalen has been great- and I’ve had to come back down to earth on my expectations of him. After the performance in the Super Bowl, I was convinced he was elite. I don’t think he’s elite now, but he is really, really good.

Kellen Moore deserves a lot more credit that he is getting. It was making me laugh so hard last night, all the Cowboy fans crowing about how they were glad to be rid of him. Yeah, compare records and outlook, and try and say with a straight face that your team is better off without him. 😂 “Those grapes are sour, anyways!”

Watching the All-22 and seeing guys break down plays after the game show just how good Kellen’s playcalling has been. So many open guys on plays. The stats this year vs the blitz, are from coaching.

Jalen’s leaving a lot of meat on the bone, still. The Offense is not even living up to its potential, yet. If they actually start playing up to their talent level- sky’s the limit for this team, and they are legit Super Bowl contenders.

I completely agree. I also feel like the term “elite” is thrown around way too often. There’s maybe 1-3 elite QB’s in the league at any time and there’s nothing wrong with being considered very good.

The improvements across the board are directly tied to the coaching. Just look at how many guys are in better situations from last year to this year. The coordinators last year were amongst the worst I’ve ever seen in our history.

Did Hurts outplay Daniels last night? I'm not worried about Hurts per se, but not feeling warm and fuzzy about his play yesterday.

We know Daniels will only get better. When we go to DC later in the year, will Hurts have gotten better?

I'm still stuck on what if Hurts already peaked. Are we good enough, as a team, to overcome his shortcomings? The defensive improvements may be the answer and hopefully so. But would love to see some more out of Hurts to say yea, he's still on his way. This year has been a steady of good enough to get bailed out by the D.

Separately, I hope Goedert does something nice for Calcaterra. With Ertz in the building that would have sucked for Goedert to lose that fumble in his dinner circle lol.

Yeah Carter has been good consistently this year. Even though he was the key young player they had on this defense, I don't know if I ever would have imagined Quinyon being so amazing as he has been. Watching the all 22's with him he literally is stuck to his guy all the time,

I would love to know if they redid the draft where Q would go now. Would have to be a top 10 pick I imagine, having a young shut down corner on a rookie contract has to be close to as valuable as a starting QB on a rookie contract.
