2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (7 Viewers)

So I was at a party last night with Eagles fans and they were declaring the Eagles roster on paper this year is the best in the history of the NFL. These are pretty knowledgeable football fans. I chuckled a little at first but now think that they’re not that far off. I don’t really see a weakness at all.
:lmao:

I’ve definitely noticed a higher confidence level from Eagles fans for this SB compared to the others, though.

I think being to 3 SBs in 8 years has many fans feeling like we truly belong among the big boys and aren’t imposters.

Me, I feel about the same cautious confidence as 2022. We can definitely win this, but I’m prepared for the usual pain and disappointment that somehow usually finds its way to us.
Anyone would be stupid to bet against the Chiefs. All they do is win.

Until they don't.
Lowest point differential in history for a top seed, longest win streak in one possession games. Unimpressive offensive and defensive rankings for a contender. KC has had a golden horseshoe up their tookus all year. They are a VERY good team, but should not be the favorite here. They have a knack for pulling out close games, but the Eagles might not let it be "close".

The Was win should have never happened. That game put me down a scared path. We need to blow teams out and run run run yet we cant figure out how to put it completely together. On the other hand, AR and PM seem to click in big games.

It was a road game against a good team with our QB concussed. NO shame in an L there. And it very easily could have (and really should have) been a W. Good teams lose a game or three they shouldn't. It happens. Eales lost two this year they probably shouldn't while KC won every single game that came to the wire, several in dramatic fashion. They are overdue for the horseshoe to fall out

I’m prepared for **** to hit the fan somehow. Someone gets hurt, someone drops a crucial pass, Elliot misses one in the moment, we come out flat, some type of off the field bs, etc. nothing surprises me as a fan of this franchise anymore.
I don’t think the field was as huge as all the other issues. Hurts had a fumble early in 2nd QTR that went back for a TD that changed momentum, we weren’t as aggressive in offensive play calling as we are, we traded FGs with KC so they could get TDs and our special teams coach kicked it to a player who our then OC had when he was OC at college and told him don’t do that. Those were all bigger factors. AJ Brown even said in an interview when they took the FG in the 3rd QTR instead of being aggressive and going for it the confidence in the team went way down and they were prepared to lose.

Was the field a factor? Sure both teams played on it though. Those other things were bigger factors though imho
Please stop with this. You've been harping on that for two years and it simply isn't true. After the fumble, they immediately scored another TD and had a 10 point lead at the half. They lost because the defense gave up literally every yard possible in the second half. Full stop.
It’s at least 13 point lead at half time. TOs kill drives and games. My point is the Eagles lost and im sick of this it was the red at the end or the turf. Both teams played on the turf, Bradberry put himself in a position to get that call. We did a million things wrong that game.

The whole turf thing brings me back to FC Barcelona in soccer during the prime messi days and anytime Barca lost an away game it was always complaints about the field not up to their standards. It just sounds like absolute crying let’s not take accountability for where we messed up. No one ever talks anymore of the lack of aggression, the turnovers we had and the drives we put in FGs instead of TDs. That hurt us the most.

Both teams played on the same field. If the eagles players were having issues on it that’s on Nick and the equipment staff at that point because KC seemed to have zero issues outside the first quarter with it

Does Kellen Moore really want his first head coaching job to be this messy?

Horrible look for the saints but another reason I don’t take a lot of the talk on child abuse from a certain group of people in our country when they won’t even look in their own backyards and churches.

At the same time people wonder why I don’t go to church anymore exhibit a.

Saints should be sevrely punished for this Goodells words about it are just sickening almost like he’s glossing over the subject.

Cool.

But you put the blame entirely on the offense and not once mentioned the defense, which was the biggest issue. I get it, You have an opinion and will never change it because you want to be right. It's exhausting. I'm asking you to please drop it.

Anyway, kinda big game this week. Go birds!

Sure the defense was bad but what did I say all year that year? I’m concerned about the offenses lack of aggression in 2nd half’s because of how bad the defense was. I said it’ll catch up to us eventually. Sure enough it caught up against us in the SB.

I mean even AJ brown came out flat said when we didn’t go for it on 4th and settled for the FGs it just showed coaches didn’t have confidence in us and the players lost theirs to that they could win.

You can’t let a team especially KC who was known as a 2nd half team back in Ig like that. And people might not like hearing this but yeah our schedule was dam soft when looking at the talent or lack there of in QBs and offenses we played that year. And this isn’t to say SF had a chance if Purdy not gotten hurt.

This was a topic I complained all year about and just like last year when we collapsed and early in the year I said I was concerned about lack of confidence wins it fell on deaf ears here.

Anyone would be stupid to bet against the Chiefs. All they do is win.
I believe the Patriots said the same thing '18....

The line opened at Patriots -6, and dropped as low as -4. At kickoff, the Eagles were +176 on the moneyline.

Really surprised the over/under, and even the majority of predictions I've heard so far, are thinking this is a tight game with both teams scoring in the mid 20's. These 2 teams just played in a top 3 scoring SB and the last 2 Eagles SB's are in that top 3.

Also, realized today the team can exorcise two Super Bowl demons with a win: the KC loss and the 1981 loss that also took place in the Superdome.

While we are 0-1, KC is 1-0 in New Orleans Super Bowls, but their SB was played at Tulane Stadium.

In the Superdome:

- Chiefs have a 4-2 record (0 playoff games)
- Eagles have a 9-8 record (1-3 in playoff games, 8-5 regular season)

Eagles are 1-0 in SB revenge/rematch games, this can make them 2-0 (or 3-0 if you include the stadium, which I like).

Not if you followed the history

I’d do this it’s a steal

TRENDING: Bleacher Report suggested the following mock trade for the Eagles to acquire Chargers DE Joey Bosa:

Eagles receive:
DE Joey Bosa

Chargers receive:

2025 fifth-round pick

So exactly like the Washington game, everyone on Get Up this morning picked the Chiefs, except Bart Scott.
Hearing plenty of analysts picking the Eagles

Saw some aggregator stat of over 100 media predictions so far the average game score is 28-26 and 60% KC to win. So seems, on the whole, only a slight favorability to KC.
What gets me is that so many of the predictions are based on "they just don't lose" without a real look at how they have WON. Those picking the Eagles cite things like unit rankings and position by position comparisons. 17 straight one possession game wins is amazing, but it's also ridiculously unsustainable. The Eagles are the better team, period, They should absolutely be favored.

5th? um NO.

Rather just re-sign Josh Sweat.
I think the main issue with Sweat is he’s essentially playing with no knees and knees to bone thanks to the numerious knee injuries. It’s why he went later than he should’ve. Do the Eagles want to risk paying him and his next knee injury being his last? I don’t see Sweat coming back unless it’s very team friendly

With a win Sunday WR Devonta Smith would become only the 4th player in history to win a NCAA National Title a Hiesman and a SB

He is easily replaceable.
Well, he's a pretty good blocker in the run game, so....

ETA: all joking aside, Slim Reaper has traditionally done pretty well against KC. They've not played each other a ton, but in the games they've played he's gone:

7/122 (rookie year)
1/100 (Super Bowl)
6/99 (last year)

I added some Davonta over 70 yards to a few parlays.

Stomach bug going through the team right now. Jalen Carter is out with it now. Need to get him right by Saturday and load him up with electrolytes.

Carter was a full participant today, so he’s good to go.

Gainwell, too, so he’s likely to clear concussion protocol.

Yeah thankful the stomach bug hit them mid-week. Should have it cleaned out by game time. Better yet they should sneak into the KC locker room on their Friday practice and spit into all of their water bottles. That would be some 4-D chess I would love to see

I'm kinda of two minds with Davonta. Is it me or does he just disappear during games you think he'll blow up in?

With a win Sunday WR Devonta Smith would become only the 4th player in history to win a NCAA National Title a Hiesman and a SB

This year he hasn’t had many huge games but he has one or two super critical catches week in and week out.

Nope it’s more of Hurts forces everything to AJ

Davonte this year: 13 games - 89 targets.
AJ this year: 13 games - 97 targets

About .8 targets per game difference. Your Hurts-hate is showing strong here.

Yep. He's been phenomenal all year. Every single time we needed him he's been there.

I can kind of stomach Ben Johnson getting more coach of the year votes than Vic but how in the **** do Aaron Glenn and Brian Flores both beat him out as well!?

This was the worst defense in the league last year and it was the best defense this year. Like, what else do you have to say?
