2024 Philadelphia Eagles - No matter how you massage it, Eagles need to soundly defeat the Browns. (1 Viewer)

Some interesting stats here

Nobody has blown more leads in the NFL in the final 2:00 of games since the start of 2023 (4 Blown Leads)

Barkley has the most dropped passes of NFL RBs since ‘21.

Bryce Huff, who Howie Roseman gave a three-year, $51 million contract to, finished with 0 tackles, 0 sacks, 0 tackles for loss, 0 QB hits, and 0 passes defended, therefore not appearing in the box score.

Didn't understand not taking the FG in the first quarter.

Play call on 3rd down was genius... box had 9 to 11 guys in there ready to stuff the run, we caught them off guard, and had a perfect pass into Barkley's hands. He catches that routinely, it's over. Either way Atlanta was getting the ball with 1 minute left, and they scored in 1 minute anyways.

The defense. I thought it was an overreaction in the first half as they actually held atlanta to 6 points... but Atlanta's offense looked bad, and they still torched us at will in the 4th quarter. The Saints are guaranteed to drop 30+ on us next week, and I don't think without AJ, that we can put up 30+.

Not sure what needs to happen, but this is as sick as I've ever felt after a loss. He catches that ball 99/100 times... and we'd be sitting here at 2-0. Very frustrating.
I think Sirianni is just too emotional to be boring. We’ve seen it in years past with his refusal to run and it showed up again today.

You have to kick the FG there. It’s a no brainer.

Even though the play call to Barkley was a good call, just be boring and run the ball. It’s 3rd and 3. I like his odds to get 3 with the way he was running. At worst, you take 40 seconds off the clock.

This team will probably get their *** kicked in NOLA- no doubt. How are they getting burnt for deep plays with Vangio’s defense? That is not good going against the most explosive offense in the league apparently.

It’s hard to miss the playoffs with the talented roster like the Eagles, but it’s possible…and that’ll be good for you fans because Sirianni will be gone.

I didnt mind the play call. Barkley was WIDE OPEN and it was a short, very high percentage pass. If he hadn't been Jalen keeps it, maybe runs for the first himself or at worst slide and keeps the clock going. That box was stacked and the play call clearly caught the Falcons off guard. I also didn't mind going for it early...Falcons were left buried when it failed.

VERY upset with the defense though. They blitzed like once the whole game. Of course that was the play that they got burned for a long TD on, but we just invested two high picks on CBs...put them on an island and get some pressure dangit. And 90 seconds is plenty of time in the NFL when half your secondary is playing 20+ yards deep and you rush no more then 4. Absurd how soft they played that final 90 seconds.

In the end I suspect this was simply a down game for Eagles after an emotional win in Brazil, and an up game for Falcons after a week one loss. But I AM concerned about this run Defense in particular

The charmin soft defense at the end of the game was atrocious. Why don’t you play up and blitz to get some pressure!? What they did yesterday was just head scratching.

Let’s give Cousins a clean pocket, 4-6 seconds for a play to develop and make sure that we play our safeties back far enough to give a big cushion also. Like wtf!?

I don’t love the play call but I get it. We wanted an OC that was creative and advanced. That’s what that play call was-totally caught them off guard. It was a good play, Saquon almost definitely get the first and possibly scoots in for a TD. He catches that ball 99 out of 100 times too.

That loss was on the defensive scheme in the last 1:30.

Do a tush push. Get 2 yards. Do another tush push. Get 2 yards. Game over.

This team is in serious trouble.

1. They have no pass rush with 4. When they put 5 on the line, they had better success. Brandon Graham is going to be used up by week 6 if they have to keep using him 50% of the snaps.

2. Like I said before, the rush defense is concerning. Looking at their schedule, they don't face a ton of teams that have great run offenses, but you're not winning a Superbowl if you can't stop the run consistently.

3. I like the secondary, sans Blankenshit (who can't cover to save his life), but if you don't get a pass rush, eventually guys get open.

4. I was pleased with the way Hurts was running last night. Looked like he had his quickness back. Saquon is great. Only positives I came away with from last night.

like if we cant get to cousins we aren't getting to anyone in the league. that was flat out embarrassing and i think we are going to lose a bunch more games. like not make the playoffs bad.

I think (when AJ comes back) we'll be able to outscore most of the teams we play, similar to the GB game. Be a lot of 34-31 games.

not winning anything playing like that

Going into the season I thought the offense had a chance to be elite and the defense would be mediocre. Run defense was my biggest concern, thought the pass rush would be okay/mediocre as well. Never envisioned it would be this bad. Not sure why people are putting the Barkley drop under the microscope when the defense is staring us all in the face. Even if they used up 40 extra seconds, it was still enough time for them to tear the D a new one and score. This candy-*** system needs pressure from the d-line to be effective and it's obviously not happening. Huff picked the perfect jersey number to match his stats. Who gets a sack first, him or Reddick?

My expectations went from vying for a Super Bowl appearance to one and done in the wildcard round.

Sirianni might be gone if they lose to NO and TB.

Saquon should have caught the ball. It was a good play.

That being said, with it 3rd and 3, deeping the opponents territory with them having no time outs and less than a minute left.....the first thing you don't want to do is turn the ball over. The second thing you want to do is use the clock as a weapon against your opponent. Run the ball and get a first and the game is over. If you don't get the first, you've used up most of the clock. You can then line up with the Brotherly Shove and maybe try to draw them offsides. If you do, the game is over. If you don't, call a timeout and then you have the option of kicking the FG or going for the Brotherly Shove.

Saquon should have caught the ball.....but a pass to Saquon should have never been on an option.

Miserable night. No way this game should have been this close. I'm on the fence about the pass play, mainly b/c it didn't work. I think it was actually a good play call, just Saquon dropped it. The INT by Hurts was baaad, but the butter defense at the end of the game and ZERO f****** pass rush is really what is killing me. Flushed a golden opportunity when Dallas, Detroit and SF all lost on the same week. What a choke job.

I think its also time to start questioning Howie. I mean, Huff basically is non-existent. Jordan Davis appears to be a bust. Nolan Smith brings nothing to the table. Devin White can't DRESS!! Josh Sweat is mediocre. BG is their best Dlineman and he's going to kill himself if they continue to play him this mount of snaps. More and more evidence of a bunch of Howie moves that, to be fair, in the moment seemed great, are actually turning out to be major busts.

If this defense doesn't get right, I don't care what the offense does. We're gonna get lit up in NO.

Josh Sweat quoted by Dave Zangaro after the game as saying, in regards to the pass rush,

"I don’t know. We’re not on the same page, man. We gotta be together. Ain’t on the same page. That’s all I can say. We’re just not rushing together."

We're in week 2 and we've already got team members speaking out. That's.....not ideal.

Prevent defense prevents wins. Always has.

Which now seems likely he doesn't return until week 6.

This season feels very much like the "Dream Team" season. So much hype. So many expectations.

From what I heard last night on all the post-game stuff, this team is fractured and not really interested in playing together. That's on coaching. I think Nick is a jamook, but he has a winning record, but it might be time for him to go. I hated my predictions of getting rolled the next 2 weeks, but it looks like a certainty now. I think he is the first HC to get fired this year.

Can’t win that way every week. Indy tried it for yrs with Peyton and a few other teams have. Can’t win consistently like that

He should be. He was lucky not to be fired last year and would’ve been had the team likes their candidate options. Nick also bought himself time firing his Cordinators but he really should’ve been fired this past offseason and the team considered it.

Yeah if we were playing a better team we lose even more convincingly. NO might put a 50 spot on this Swiss cheese called a defense. We played well enough to beat the Falcons and blew it but it was ATL.

Remember when I said guys on Defense were going rogue last year? Yeah still doing it. The one guy I heard the most was Reddick and he’s gone, as their hope was it’d correct the issue. But other guys are still pulling the crap they did last year. I don’t have specific players but this offseason the defense needs an entire makeover

Siranni should be gone. Dude brings nothing to the table. Nothing.
He's good at screaming at the fans while in the tunnel where they can't hear him after a big win on the road!
Sensitive much? Why can fans scream at players but go forbid a coach/player gives it back fans get their panties all in a bunch?
Because coaches should act professional?

How would it go over at your job if you put out crappy product and the customers give you **** for it for a few months then when you get a case of fresh stuff in you start screaming at them and show them up?

doesnt bother me much but in his case its worse because no one knows what he really does. but whatever it is hes excited about it!

Not sure why the hype they didn’t address many of the issues last season including HC. Fangio scheme hasn’t been nfl successful in yrs and honestly there’s a lot of deadweight that needs to be cut.

Spread against the Saints has moved to Eagles +2.5. I'm in for a half unit. Wonder if it will move more with the narratives around these teams.

I’ve put customers in their place before being out of pocket. Many are highly abusive entitled and rude. Zero manners. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a cart ran into my ankles, pushed aside, screamed at for something not even mine or the stores fault, and just plan looking down on us for working retail. The problem half the time is customers don’t read and get mad when we prove them wrong.

Just sick of us needing a "average and it works" guy to plug up, in-season every year.

2022: Davis gets hurt so we sign Suh and Joseph bc we have zero NT depth
2023: Signs and trades for LB/S midseason bc we have the worst LBs ever and no S depth
2024: Trades away our best DE, signs a guy that gets flattened by an OT on every single play, now we need to trade for a pass rusher b/c we have no pass rushers

I'm willing to say I'm out on Nolan Smith already. He looks like a 1994 Madden DL player when he loses his battle, is just completely pancaked face first to the turf. All. Game. Long.
Huff is a carbon copy but at least he has shown "something" in the NFL so far, unlike Nolan Smith.

We are in a really bad spot, but I still have faith that Vic will work to get things better. Maybe not corrected, but he will at least know he needs to work to fix this s***

and where was our great dline last night? barely saw carter, sweat, davis do anything
Carter gets doubled and chipped every play.

Davis is a bum. Sweat and Huff are average at best and can't beat NFL tackles unless someone else is drawing attention. Davis is really ruining this whole thing.

I'd be less pissed if Huff was getting taken out by Tackles- he is getting washed out of plays against TEs straight up.

Nolan Smith- ugh. The only hope there is that maybe he has a BG career arc and redeems himself. But, Honestly, don't see it.

There is 0.000001% chance that the Eagles hang within 2.5 points of New Orleans. If I was a betting man, I would bet BIGly on this.
I get why you feel that way. I see a lot of solvable problems on that Philly team, but not sure they have the coaches to do it. I lean against the idea that a new scheme has turned New Orleans (Carr) into an offensive juggernaut. Might have to blitz them though, not a Fangio strength.

Probably not the right thread to post about this in. Was just reading along as I was trying to find games to target next weekend.
