Made it. Ended up at the Doubletree on 237 South Broad.I concur with all of this. You’ll be 15 mins away from Santucci’s Pizza on 10th St. They have decent cheesesteaks, but the pizza is really, really, really good. Definitely worth a trip for a lunch or a casual dinner.Word on the street is Damon is the guy to ask about where to find the best cheesesteak! We're staying near Wells Fargo arena this weekend.
For all of you really, we'd love some recs on things nearby. Like where to watch the games on Sunday. Oh, and I guess dinner too (with SNF). Thanks and good luck this year.
But, if you’re dead set on going cheesesteaks, John’s Roast Pork is about 10 minutes away. Consistently in the top tier of cheesesteaks, but get a roast pork with broccoli rabe and cooper sharp to taste/share. One of the best sammiches. ever.
I only saw one that could have been called but he was already in really good position to defend the play. And 3 holding penalties that weren’t called
He’s a rookie, and he will make mistakes, but he looks good. Another player who falls to the Eagles who should have gone 5-10 slots higher.I only saw one that could have been called but he was already in really good position to defend the play. And 3 holding penalties that weren’t called
Well the Nolan Smith pick isn't looking so good so far. He’s a rookie, and he will make mistakes, but he looks good. Nice. There’s a lux apartment building I designed across the street from there with a very good steakhouse, Steak 48. And of course lots of good options down walnut on Rittenhouse square. Ready for suggestions, Damon, thanks. And congrats on the Eagles!
If it’s cheesesteaks you want I’d say go down broad to South Street, take a left and walk until you get to Jim’s on the corner of South and Fourth. They had a fire a couple years ago but reopened. You’ll dig it.Give us a damn Philly Cheesesteak or pizza joint up in here guys. Come on! If Damon won't, someone help a brother out. Isn't that what this city is all about, brotherly love???
Speaking of that…I didn't catch it last night during introductions. Jordan Mailata went to Jeff Stoutland University.

Heard a good stat yesterday, that they went motion like 65% of the time. the other 35% of plays Jale was like 5-13 for 60 yards and 2 INTs. the motion plays were all the restEagles LBs last night in coverage

Great list. Every time I visit Philly I hit up a different place that I find on some "top 5 cheesesteaks in philly" list. Last year it was Dalessandro's which was a bit out of the way if you're staying in the heart of the city. Ran into Mailata there which was awesome, and the steaks were great... but I still have a hard time finding one I like more than Jim's. I know it's one of the busy/well known ones that no one likes to pick for their fave, but it's just so damn good.Late to the party, but hopefully helpful to future folks who visit the city for a game, or whatever.
I've done plenty of 'homework' over the years, and this remains my pizza go-to in the general Philadelphia area:
https://tacconellispizzeria.com/index.html . Apologies that I got around to this late in the discussion; they are closed Mondays & Tuesdays.
Having literally eaten hundreds, I think cheesesteaks in general are over-rated, and that ounce-for-ounce, you can get a better roast pork sandwich or italian hoagie in Philadelphia, HOWEVER...
by now, I think most food-savvy folks know that the wholePat's/Geno's thing has jumped the shark, and both of those places are more for uninformed tourists, rather than for folks looking for a remarkable cheesesteak experience who, IMHO, ought to head to the northwest Philly suburb of Roxborough and decide which of:
Chubby's https://www.chubbyssteaks.com/ or Dalessandro's https://dalessandros.com/
they prefer...but only eat half of each one, because once you've decided on a winner, head over to Barry's https://www.barrys-steaks.com/ , and see if this little David has what it takes to knock off one of those Goliath's.
Now, for one hell of a 'two-for' , you can get one of the best Roast Pork Sandwiches, as well as a 1st-tier cheesesteak, both at John's Roast Pork https://johnsroastpork.com/
and at Campo's https://camposdeli.com/ ...
...an aside on bread - the iconic Amoroso's is what everyone hears about when it comes to Philly-area sandos, but there are several outstanding bakeries in the greater Philly area that make sandwich rolls as good or better than the big A...Carangi's gets a lot of press also, but my personal favorite is Sarcone's, and at their bakery on 9th Street, a lot of people don't know they make a hell of a hoagie (or at least they used to - I haven't been there in a while, and their website doesn't say anything about it, and they aren't open today), but they make lots of other good things that make it worth a visit: https://www.sarconesbakery.com/ . One of my most highly recommended iconic Philadelphia food experiences is getting a fresh-baked loaf of crusty Italian bread at Sarcone's and heading straight over to DiBruno Brothers , and using pieces of said bread as a platform to taste your way through the best selection of artisanal and farmstead cheeses from DC to Manhattan, hands-down (any cheese shop worth a damn will taste you on as many cheeses as you're interested in trying - just don't be an *** and not buy anything before leaving the store). DiBruno's on 9th Street is a Temple of (real) Cheese. There are a million cool things besides cheese to explore and buy at DiBruno's on 9th St.
My 1st-ever Philadelphia iconic sandwich experience was one street over (10th), just off the Italian Market District. Early 2000's. A little 'luncheonette' - Frank's Lunch/Shank & Evelyn's Roast Beef https://www.hollyeats.com/shankevelyns/ . Sadly, they closed and moved around 2009, and the new location https://www.eatatshanks.com/ just isn't the same, but I can't write about this stuff without evoking that memory and commemorating it here.
Roast beef is another well-made sandwich meat treated with reverance in Philadelphia, and although you can't get the one I had at Shank's some 20-odd years ago, there are plenty of other places to get an outstanding Roast Beef Sandwich, like this:
https://www.nicksroastbeef.com/philadelphia.html ... as good a place to set a standard for future research, as any.
There are tons of places to get a killer hoagie, but I'm going to suggest starting at two better-known places, where you can not only get a top-shelf hoagie, but, in the case of
Angelo's https://angelospizzeriasouthphiladelphia.com/ , you can get a great many well-made things.
https://www.paesanosphilly.com/ Philly-area Chef Peter McAndrews isn't necessarily a mentor, or peer of mine, but he's a Chef I have an immense amount of respect for. Paesano's was originally a hole-in-the-wall in Fishtown, but has grown up over the years.
This is the best sandwich shop I've experienced recently: https://www.instagram.com/farinadivita/ ... they take their craft seriously, and absolutely crush it.
These are just some recs of mine, and not my entire list, and no doubt there are Phillyguys who have their own favorites and might/might not like mine.
Well, that's a lot of typing, and a lot of links. Hope they all work, and anyone interested gets themselves ahold of some solid pizza and sandwiches when in Philly.
There's also a decent roast beef sandwich to be found across Philadelphia. Nick's Original is a good place to start: https://www.nicksroastbeef.com/
ETA - if this post is better off being moved to the FFA, that's OK by me.

Is there an official list available of entrants? Or is this something you track at home but don't post about till the end of the season? Apologies, I haven't participated in past years and can't recall if I saw any posts on how this was handled in the past.2024 Eagles Regular Season Prediction Contest is back, with a plethora of Eagles swag as the top prize!
Same rules as previous seasons:
Good luck!
- Using the format below (and my official entry) as a template, indicate these 3 things about the Eagles 2024 season: overall record, total points scored, and the outcome of each game: W/L/T (make sure your Wins and Losses match up with your overall record!)
- Number of correct W/L outcome predictions by game will be the first tie-breaker if multiple entries have the correct overall record, and total points (closest, over or under) will be the second tie-breaker, if needed.
- Entries need to be posted in this thread by 8pm EST on Friday, September 6th. Open to all FBGs, even Giants fans that were rooting for us to catch a case from the NFL for tampering when Saquon high-tailed it out of MetLife faster than a teamster spending his paycheck at the Bada Bing!

Damn, that one hurts a little bit. Losing a 6th rounder after week one bc you kept him on the practice squad. Not a great look.Season’s over, boys. It was a good run.
The LA Rams signed Dylan McMahan to their active 53 from our Practice Squad.
I’ve been away the last month dealing with personal stuff (family deaths and GFs aunt fiancée past away 2 of these were barely 2 days apart) so I didn’t see signicabt portion of preseason outside of 2nd half of game 2. I’ll try to reply where I can but not every post just a few I wanted to comment but didn’t have time to postIs there anything significant to the Sirianni/Hurts relationship issues narrative? I've seen some smoke here and there to varying degrees of severity about issues between Hurts/Sirianni and Hurts/locker room. Would love to know if it carries any real weight, or just typical early-August BS.
Also, @Terpman22, is Bleacher Report considered to be much of a reliable source? Serious question, and I respect your opinion. I've never put much time into reading stuff from there, but recently a football buddy of mine is referencing it a lot lately, and as I'm vetting it, it seems, on it's face, not to be all that concerned about oversight of it's content creators, and contains a lot of unsubstantiated rumor and sensationalism.
Thanks!

Saquon had 66% of his rushes against a light box. With all the receiving threats, teams can’t stack the box as often as he probably saw with NYG.
I’m not opposed to this move. It was an overpay as it was within the division but it was a guy rumored to be a cut at end of cap. If we were looking for a #3 I was surprised they didn’t go juju as they had interest in him when he first became an FA. My thinking is the Eagles wanted a younger player and did like Dotson. From someone I spoke to with a little knowledge it seems like he was going to be cut and wouldn’t make it to Eagles claim in waivers so traded for him. He was over drafted by about a round and a half so good news is we have him for 3 yrs thanks to 1st round 5th year opt but it’s only 2 if they don’t pick it up.Eagles just traded for WR Jahan Dotson
Whelp, missed this, damn it. But did find some good Philly Cheese Steak and had a very nice time in Philly. Actually ran into / met Mike McCready outside that Rittenhouse Park area. We were at that popular restaurant or cafe there, which was good and he was just strolling by, solo. Such a nice guy.Happy, @Harry Frogfish ?Late to the party, but hopefully helpful to future folks who visit the city for a game, or whatever.

https://tacconellispizzeria.com/index.html .
Might not be as good as Damon, but it’s a great freaking list
He looked terrible. Cousins was horrible too and I can’t really say what exactly that was in Chicago.Browns saw Watson’s performance, looked at his contract, and went right to the investigation notes to nudge another victim to come forward so they can void his deal.
Rams lost like half their starting OL last nightSeason’s over, boys. It was a good run.
The LA Rams signed Dylan McMahan to their active 53 from our Practice Squad.
He WAS the offense with the Giants. He doesn't have to be here, and that will make a world of difference.Saquon had 66% of his rushes against a light box. With all the receiving threats, teams can’t stack the box as often as he probably saw with NYG.
Ok, here's what I found.Thanks. I know it can't be tracked as the season plays out. Was looking for a participant list more than anything. I'll see if I have time later to go through the thread and I'll post what I find. Can't really 'track' it as the winner is simply overall record at the end of the year (followed by the tie breakers after that).

I would’ve done this but didn’t do it in time. This imho is a hard season to predict as I can see then going 12-5 or 11-6 based on paper but with last seasons late collapse and I don’t think all issues solved could easily see 6-11 or 7-10 or 8-9. Just don’t think the Offense will be consistent enough to score enough point, I was never a Fangio fan nor do we really have the player skillset to run a 3-4 d.Ok, here's what I found.Thanks.
